I didn't realize bicyclists could go through red lights safely of course. You learn something new every day! Thanks AK.
@TechExploresNYC4 жыл бұрын
actually, under new york city laws, bikes can't pass red lights, but if nobody's looking, and depending on the officer catching you, you won't be ticketed. Especially if you are not delivering for businesses, they city cares more about money and people with cars and bikes delivering for businesses => money. www.timeout.com/newyork/news/bikes-can-now-legally-run-red-lights-at-50-intersections-across-nyc-032818#:~:text=Bikes%20can%20now%20legally%20run%20red%20lights%20at%2050%20intersections%20across%20NYC,-By%20Clayton%20Guse&text=A%20bicycle%20isn't%20exactly,killed%2C%20according%20to%20public%20data. also this.

It's illegal to do so in NYC, but it's not really enforced that much by the police. It's pretty much a social norm for cyclists to do so if you can pass through safely.

Thanks for the drive! Born in Little Neck in the sixties and first apartment in Flushing in the eighties. Can’t make it back but it brought back lots of memories.

I live in Little Neck & I know this must’ve been during the pandemic because I haven’t seen Northern Blvd looking that empty! I’m thinking about getting a bike & riding to work eventually. I’m afraid to ride in the streets since the last time I rode a bike, I was still a kid riding on the sidewalk. Have you ever rode on Little Neck Pkwy? That’s the busiest street I would have to ride on when going to my job.

NYC has an insane amount of upkeep but there are just too many cars. Also keep in mind this is the 'suburbs' lol. Its almost emberassing to be honest. Instead of creating roads and rethinking, they just build on top of already broken roads and pat each other on the back.

They're not too friendly for cyclists on the main roads, there are some quieter ones which are quite pleasant though.

I'm only 14 min in and have noticed there's a lot of Korean writing as well as possible Korean people, is this what may be called a Korean town? Just observing, I live in the countryside in Ohio and studied the Korean language for a few years so I see but do not know.
