I was born in '75 and listened to Cyndi in her prime and as many people, throughout the years with every new popular release. But I never paid too much attention to her, other than recording tapes with She Bop along with many more 80's songs of other artists. I happened to be 45 years old and find out how gracious and talented she really was. I wish I could go back in time and live her career with full enthusiasm.

I lived for Dave's anniversary shows all through his run on NBC, and I'll go to my grave believing that Cyndi Lauper's "Money Changes Everything" was the finest female vocal performance of the '80s decade.

I agree with BOTH of you! To THIS day, I STILL watch the video for "Money Changes Everything" because it continues to blow me away time after time! Hey, look what I just did there! No pun intended! As a matter of fact, before I read these comments, I was going to go watch the video for "Money Changes Everything" right after I finished watching THIS video!! It still blows me away, what? Thirty-five, thirty-six years later? WOW! #cyndilauperrulesandmadonnadrools

@Cynthia Corcoran I'm not sure I understand your comment. What did you mean when you wrote, "I recorded as Cyndi in the 60s it wasn't as by ish."? This statement puzzles me. Sorry about that, but I can't make heads or tails of it.

this was so dang good!! I remember it like it was yesterday on the prime time 6th anniv special! She is soooooo talented. How is she not in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame????? She has blown the lid off venues singing great rock songs. She also does multi-genres well! Go listen to her sing live for the JONI MITCHELL TRIBUTE show, singing Carey, or for the Obamas, singing Try a Little Tenderness!!!!!!!! And I adore her cover of "What's Going On" that went to #12 in the mid-80s. She did Marvin Gaye proud!

For those who would try to compare Madonna with Cyndi Lauper, THIS video is the living proof Cyndi Lauper is way more relevant and more talented than Madonna. It's impossible to imagine Madonna trying to perform with all these accomplished artists since she NEVER was able to carry a tune on stage.
@celestialmanrichard88463 жыл бұрын
I agree completely as Cyndi Lauper was Iconic
@KristineMaitland9 ай бұрын
I will be fair. Madonna put out some great songs and was an excellent dancer, though not on par with Toni Basil, Janet Jackson or Paula Abdul (personal opinion - Jackson not withstanding, the others are still impressive at their age) What is evident in this video is the fact that Cyndi was involved in far more interesting musical projects. She worked with the greats. She counts Patti Labelle and Cher as close friends. She's an activist in the truest sense. And while she has had her lower days (I remember her WWE period) she has since come on top with Grammys, Emmy and a Tony. And frankly, anyone who can get a stodgy Kennedy Award audience off their feet while singing a Cher tune in their elder years is on top to me.
