Saw their double-bill show with Aldious, their buddies, in Nov. 2024. This song was the first of their set. Quite a few members of various all-female bands were in the crowd and backstage at the show. I think they were at their peak at Naon no Yaon (annual female rockers’ fest) in 2013, ‘14, and ‘17. Those were three of the four or five best NnYs I’ve been to, not least because Destrose played in ‘13, Gacharic Spin for the first time in ‘14, and Mary’s Blood in ‘17. The individual members of Cyntia have figured prominently at NnY since then in the backing bands. A feature of NnY was the “World Guitar Girls Collection” all-star show, and sometimes they would have spinoff versions of WGGC at clubs instead of at the usual NnY outdoor theater. One of those I went to was in July 2017, and it was preceded by a Cyntia - Mary’s Blood double-bill. Great show (WGGC on MB’s y t, as I recall). Some months later Cyntia went on hiatus.

My initial reaction to this video was similar to yours. Oh, that is so much "Lovebitish" inspired music. Even the guitarist plays v-shape guitar as Myako does. But then i went to Wikipedia. And it said that this track was recorded in 2013 and the band itself was formed in 2011.... While Lovebites were formed in 2016. So, if we talk about all-female-japanese bands explosion - these musicians were "oriented" towards Aldious approach (not Lovebites). And they even recorded their debute single on the label created by Aldious members.... I like your mentioning of Judas Priest as a source of "dueling guitar solo formula". Because, yeah "we are all thieves" ) Cool statement, rather ironic, though.

This band formed 2011 went to hiatus 2017 after a bandmember got band health. So, in that context Cyntia was one of the top tier all- female metal bands at that time, like Destrose and a couple more bands for an example ( In my taste) . Cyntia almost made a template of how the new coming all-female bands played their music. Three members still play under the name Cyntia now and then, but no new songs what I know about and it seems they play just for fun. Other here may have better knowledge on the band that I have!

Cool to see this band finally come to the channel. I've tried many times to like this band but like you said this band just doesn't stand out. I also want to say and I'm not going to sugar coat it, I hate Saki's vocals. Her vocals are absolutely not for me, but I absolutely love Yui's guitar playing though. Love her to death What makes this band special is they were one of the bands that got the ball rolling for the all female bands to come shortly after. This band formed shortly after Aldious got rolling and became label mates with Aldious. Cyntia then went on to become the 1ST all female metal band in Japan to join a major label, which is Victor Entertainment, the same label that picked up both Mary's Blood and Lovebites later on So there's your connection to Aldious and Lovebites with this band

If you’re talking about HR/HM, the first all-female band to sign with a major label in Japan was Show-Ya in 1985 with Toshiba EMI (now Universal Music Japan). Granted the dividing line between HR and HM is amorphous, but no Japanese-language source (unless it’s referring to an English-language source) gives such first-major-label-signing credit to Cyntia. Your source for your info may be English-language wik (or its sources) on Cyntia, but it’s qualified there to being the first of the bands of the “girls metal band boom” of the 2010s to sign with a major label. Btw, English-language wik on Show-Ya classifies them as “metal”. Though Japanese-language wik has Show-Ya as “hard rock”. In any case, in the Japanese music industry the Japanese hard and heavy bands are generally grouped together as “HR/HM” and treated as one category for statistical and database purposes. As far as Japanese all-female, hard-and-heavy bands go, Show-Ya were 1st to sign with a major record label.

Cynthia was a Japanese heavy metal band formed in 2011. They are believed to have been the first act from the Girls Metal Band Boom to have signed to a major record label when they joined Victor Entertainment in 2013.
