This I have been eagerly waiting for, grub screws, I know for fact, make sure the screws are flat face. They will mar a ring in the flat. I Iike the idea of a barrel nut . As of now I shim the bolt on my 457 so rifling engage the bullet how I want it.

Hello. Kenny, This looks like a fascinating build! I have two 457's, one with an IBI barrel in an Oryx Chassis, and I'd like to see you do the most cost effective build, preferably without a barrel nut. But in any case, I'm sure the end result will be a tack driver!
@ferdgebert489 Жыл бұрын
some suggestions from a lifelong machinist... make a precision split ring to go over the barell for precision headspace location, maybe use it extractor orientation as well... .ooo5 to .001 press fit should not bother the reciever at all... freeze the barell to shrink it down so everything can be lined up easily... you may have to experiment with the actual dimensions to see how this all works well... but this is what i would do ! have fun ! we are all still learning !

Hi Kenny, I know this is old, but I do enjoy your videos and especially the ones on the CZ 455/457 "notchless" barrels. While I like the interchangeability, I now tend to go back to the old Brno and ZKM rifles with 2 lugs and screw in barrels. Anyway, Just wanted to let you know that the Flyweight Trigger can indeed be adjusted to be a two-stage trigger. Works quite well.

Kenny, there was a guy on Rimfire Central that use to build accurate CZ455’s and would basically cut the barrel tenon to tight tolerances to the receiver and then Loctite the barrel into the action. I think this also addressed concerns that the barrel retaining grub screws could create stress in the barrel where they secure it. Just a thought on barrel to receiver retention. You would have to heat the receiver if you wanted to change the barrel later, but let’s face it, if she is accurate, I would never change the barrel anyway. Good luck! Will be interested to see how she shoots when your through.

I am anxious to see how your CZ 457 barrel fitting comes out. I am having a Custom Fit barrel to a 457. For the HUGE notches for the 6mm Grub screws My Idea is to just Mill two 1/4 notches. NOT take out half the barrel like the Factory does. It will also be a contact fit tannin.

The Tenex results are stunning. I don't think my 455 has shot that bad even with THunderbolt. The best ammo I've found overall for my CZ is MIdas Plus. But it's pretty solid with Wolf MT (old SK contract), Lapua Center-x, and federal UM22. Heck, it even loves that Aguila Pistol Match which is crazy accurate for cheap Aguila!

Gidday From down in New Zealand. Your 22 RF videos are great, I have learnt a lot as you discuss more in depth accuracy kinks than most. I wonder what the headspace was in the factory barrel. In my experience its rare that a 22 that shoots any higher end ammo well doesnt shoot as well or better with Tennex. The explanation for this would be a great learning point. Thanks for making such a great contribution to the riflemans pool of knowledge.

That's a 455. Very different from the 457. Parts of the bolt and the barrel are the only common parts. I'm not sure but that barrel looks to be a 20.5 varmint profile. I just put a fly trigger in one of mine. Light but feels like a striker fired pistol. I dig your content. Tiburon makes the knob. Get them on Amazon for ten bucks.

How does a notchless sporter barrel sound in a 455, with a very tight tenon fit requiring freezing and heating to put it together. Could the work be done on the chamber-end of the existing, original barrel. It would end up being shorter but that wouldn't matter.
@lewisrice3741 Жыл бұрын
I would like to have your opinion on my cleaning method. I put some solvent in for about 10 minutes and then run a teflon brush through the barrel three or four times then use dry patches until they come clean and then run oil patch this is after about 3 or 4 hundred rounds is this any good? Watch all of your videos put a lot of stock in your opinion. Thanks for all of your knowledge. Beagleman

Since you have to have the extractor groves cut and in a specific spot i dont see how the barrel nut system would be workable atleast not for the guy at home wanting to play with headspace. Ive been waiting to see a gunsmith do a custom barrel for the 455/457. Very excited for the results.
@EagleEyeShooting2 жыл бұрын
The barrel is a slip fit system. There is no timing needed for the barrel. The barrel nut system will allow a variable shoulder length so you can set headspace. It also will act as imposing forces with the grub screw and in theory place even tension around the action
@jamesmikell67732 жыл бұрын

I’m in on one. Put a build n your website. Want to shoot Lapua & SK. My B14R ain’t cutting it, even after Timney HIT trigger at 8 oz and EC Tuner. Both are, in my mind, mandatory upgrades.
