SocietyNeedsToCrumble yeah, I'm pretty sure we can piece together something, other examples include: Bev and Eddy appear in 11.22.63, in the Tommyknockers someone sees a clown in a storm drain in Derry (3 guesses who that is) and in the novel Dreamcatcher, there's a sign left by the Losers in a forest at the old water works or what ever they were, the chilling part of the message however, comes from what's beneath it, PENNYWISE LIVES. So, yeah, every psychic in King stories, Carrie, Danny Torrance, that guy from Dreamcatcher, all shiners. Wait, does James Macavoy even read scripts that don't have him as a psychic?

To those who never read the book, there is actually one final part with Bill mentioned after he saved Audra from her catatonic state. He woke up one night thinking that him saving her was a dream. He looks at Audra asleep and he thinks to himself that he will write about everything that happened in the story. With that, I'm pretty sure that him writing his version of "IT" will become his most successful book ever and he might have to write a screenplay for when it's being adapted into a movie.

The opening segment where Georgie is first attacked is one of the weirdest and most upsetting in the It chapter 1 film. The woman out on the porch doesn't see Georgie attacked, but she sees him looking into the sewer grate just before that. I remember thinking the first time I saw it (without any prior knowledge of the story) how weird it was that the woman somehow doesn't hear Georgie screaming when his arm is bitten off. I immediately thought to myself 'Hell no, she heard that, she just didn't want to see!' It was a great way to set up the extra frightening part of Pennywise, to kids anyway: adults won't, or can't help them. Either Pennywise's influence keeps them in the dark, or the more personal explanation that many adults in Derry also endured the terror of Pennywise in their childhoods. Is it willful forgetting due to trauma, a knowing that refuses to acknowledge; or is it all Pennywise? A lot of how Pennywise affects the entire town over time very closely mimics generational trauma.

I think Stephen King based the idea of Bill writing books based off his experience with It off of the fact King himself based many books of his own on his life experiences: Misery based on his own experience of crazed fans and addiction, Carrie based on him knowing a girl on school who was bullied, the Shining based off his time at the Stanly Hotel, heck even The Stand was based off a dream King had. Those are just the ones I’m aware of based off something from King’s past

I don’t know why, but this book reaches me in a way no other comes anywhere close to. Maybe because it was the first horror movie I ever saw when I was 5. Maybe it’s because I relate to so many of the characters. Maybe it’s because of the power the story gives to friendship. I could name several more reasons why I think it could be, but there is something so special about this book. I really don’t know, but when I think about it, I feel just about every emotion all balled up into one all at once. It’s overwhelmingly odd. 🤷🏻♂️

I believe fictional stories are a medium for contemporary social issues. "It" reminds me of how abused children are treated. Other adults were aware that the kids in the Loser Club were being hunted by Pennywise but did nothing. The monster has more control when the children are afraid and it thrives from their fear. Similarly in real life adults ignore signs of abuse and abusers use fear to continue the tormenting their victims. Childhood abuse and fear can still affect victims in adulthood. The positive messages in the movie are that a healthy supportive community, confronting trauma and facing hurtful secrets can help you survive. You can be stronger than your fears. Stephen King's "It" has an inspiring ending. Maybe this comment doesn't belong here, but I needed an outlet for this brain dump. Thank you for the opportunity.

I like the running joke in Chapter 2 of Bill’s endings being bad and since Bill is a mirror of Stephen King, they’re making fun of him and King can always laugh at himself too

Bill is just a shortened term for William, It's like how Jim is a short hand form of James. Rick (or Dick) is short for Richard... It's not a nickname, it's a variant of a short form. It comes from the Victorians. They had this fascination with word play. (I mean they didn't have TV or internet back then) and would shorten and sometimes rhyme names of people. Take the name William. Shortened to Will Add the rhyme to it to make it Bill. Richard is similar, Shortened to Rich or Rick. Add the rhyme and we get Dick. Which is why Dick is a short form of Richard.

I like how you used footage from both films to portray the story from the novel. You should edit them together into a whole new movie lol.

When Bill talks about different cultures, and mentions that the French call it “Lupe Garoo”, I think it means “Loup Garou” (being French myself) which is “Werewolf” in English.
