It is so awesome to see young people doing such a good job and save money like this. Thanks for the video too. You not only have the talent, but also took the time to share what you know and how to do it. I can not say enough good things about guys like this. We are a dying breed, but thanks to youtube we can all find each other and share ideas and skills now.

First of all you should pre-clean the parts before doing any sanding. Any oils, mold release agents, etc. need to be removed before doing any sanding or else you run the risk of sanding the contaminants right into the surface. Next, your scuffing was rather sparse, you didn't really even get them completely, you want to get that complete overall dullness which you did not. At 1:54 you show them and basically you only have a handful of scuff lines with shiny untouched areas in between. Probably better to use a scuff pad anyway. All said, they did come out looking pretty good.

I never understood why scuffing it up with sand paper is necessary.

So i messed up on my lip paint. Can i still fix it by restarting all over ?
@mylifeisJDM6 жыл бұрын
Corrupted Kid like, the painting process? You can always sand paper it all off with a rough grit, prolly use a paint scraper first to get most of the paint off. Their are other methods if you google around.

should I wait a day after the primer is done until i sand with the 600 grit?
@mylifeisJDM7 жыл бұрын
Depends on the weather and humidity. Generally the primer can will have directions for drying times and if it's warm enough, it will dry in less than an hour. So no, if you live in a warm climate during this time of the year, you don't have to wait that long.

mylifeisJDM will this work on valve covers
@mylifeisJDM9 жыл бұрын
anthony gallardo Ya. Valve covers are simpler. Just strip the paint. Primer once or twice and then spray any color. Cheap spray paint will work. Don't worry about engine heat. regular spray paint can handle it. Source: me

Not really. I want to say I waited about 60 seconds between each coat. A.P. dries quickly. If in doubt, the can gives the definitive instructions.

To cook the Paint just use an hair dryer on low speed and medium temperature....point it into the pieces with a distance of 40cm and they will get dry and good looking very fast.
@88ShawarmaKing938 жыл бұрын
But you'll blow a whole lot of dust in the Paint too.
@Mano-ep3tv8 жыл бұрын

@johntate46388 жыл бұрын
Here is an idea. Plan ahead. Clean the room you are doing this in extremely well. Use the cheap plastic you can get anywhere to just block off areas that are to dusty to clean entirely. YOu can make a dust free work space in less than 30 mins. If you are still worried about dust in the air after that. Grab and old filter or new filter from your home ac or furnace and cut just enough off to cover the intake on the hair dryer. Magic free cheap filter. I would recommend taking the hair dryer apart and cleaning it before using it to do this though. Most hair dryers people don't clean the intake and heating element as often as the should. Make sure to clean it all out. Use a compressed air first then fine clean after that. All these tips and tricks for a great paint job are saving you money from having to pay someone;
