The man they attract isn’t very handsome and is of more modest means, and they’re not sure about going forward with it, but then it turns out that he has a bit of money to spend on the daughter. The father doesn’t like him, though, and the man says that, if the father doesn’t let him be with his daughter, he’ll kidnap her. The lyrics relate to seaweed gathering.
