That's sad. I'm around your age and my whole family went to the 2pac movie that came out in the early or mid 2000s. Mom, Dad, lil bro, Aunt, lil cousin (she was like 10), and my older cousin, and maybe my uncle if I remember correctly. We went to the one at like 5 or 530 because we wanted to beat the crowd. My family loved 2pac, my mom even bought my lil brother a system so he could bump 2pac in his wrangler. Lol. My parents, even used to sing along with Eminem. Hah.

Sadly, he’s actually inaccurate with some of his knowledge.. PAC wasn’t in debt his accounts were frozen due to the rape allegations in NY. And PAC approached Suge and even wrote out his own contract with death row. Suge and his lawyers refused to pay artists anything other than a monthly allowance. PAC would ask for an accounting of what he owed to repay the bail money and would be given a car, house and more. Suge was worse than Jerry heller and Diddy put together.

I was around 15 when this song came out and me and my crew had been bumpin “All Eyez On Me” for months. This was back when we were playing cds and tapes lol, and Hit Em up came out on the B-side of How do you want it single. My dad actually bought it and gave it to me. I knew from the first time I heard it that this was not going to end well, you could hear the rage in Pac’s voice. He was pissed. But his goal was to make a song that straight dug in the hearts of Bad Boy, but also be something that Biggie couldn’t escape because it was such a good song, they would hear it in clubs. He succeeded as we STILL bump this shit. And Puffy did an interview not long ago where he actually gave the song some props and said that it still hurts to this day lol. Too bad that it resulted in the deaths of two of the greatest of my generation and of all time!! Rest in power, Pac! We still Hit Em up 💯

Taking a man for his whole self is important. Pac didn’t take any shit. He was a loving soul and a great person. This side of him no doubt led to his death but I find parts of that side of him that I respect too. It’s sad but a man is who he is.

I was a huge Pac fan before this song. I lost a great deal of respect for him because of it. I didn’t like Biggie one bit before his death, but hearing stories of things he did for people and how he impacted others I came to like him a little better. So, yeah it’s important to take people as a whole. Oddly, I remember this being shocking at first but not that popular until after the movie.

Always rated Against all odds as Pacs best diss track. He actually goes at the people who were behind the shooting and lays it all out. Its much deeper. Hit em up was sensational for it's raw anger but it's pretty simplistic in content.

I think there are songs by 2Pac that express very real anger & he can get scary. The thing is, you can’t love someone unless you SEE them, you KNOW them. You’re just starting out with him. The more you listen & learn about him, the deeper love you’ll find for him. Every time I listen to his music I hear something new. “No More Pain” is one that comes to mind. 2Pac is one of my favorite artists of all time, watching someone else appreciate him - all his soulfulness & dignity, mixed with his anger & sometimes brutality is a real treat for me.

I just have to say watching this makes me think of my dad and how much we love Tupacs music we were able to share it and one of his favorite songs was California Love. We played that on the way to my dad’s funeral. I just wanted to share that because music unites us and Tupac is a lyricist and his music was beyond anything ever made. You could be listening to his music no matter what genre you’re into and no matter the years passed. It’s transcendent.
