@jimbo93053 жыл бұрын
@@Noemieorokia I am unsure about French, but in English there is something called a double negative. It is a grammatical error as it is usually not the speaker's intention. As an example, "I do not want nothing." Logically what is being said is I want something, because the word not is a negative, which negates the negative nothing. However, the speaker usually is not intending to mean that. Another example would be, "We don't need no education." In that case not is a negative as is no. This indicates (perhaps ironically or appropriately) that education is needed. It is also possible to think of it like in mathematics where subtracting a negative number is the equivalent of adding a positive number.

Take 16 year Olds seriously. Most of history viewed them as adults. Wives and mothers, managing households and tending to their families. If we would start holding young adults to a higher standard we might get past this epidemic of old children. By 25 I was out of school, debt free from Everything except a modest mortgage... married with two kids, two vehicles, and a small farm. Not born into wealth by any means. I started working towards my financial goals at age 17.

I admire you for all you did. But society changes with time and diferent ages mean diferent things. Apart from the biological changes ( which I believe are even diferent now than lets say.. last century) rest of things are kind of just a social construct. So... 5 centuries ago you should have had kids at 16 already. Now there is more time for people to develop in a diferent way , develop their personality their views, before they start the very important task of being a parent. I live in India and not so many years ago it was normal in some places to get married at 11 years old. Now at that age everybody understands you should be a kid. So... apart from some biological things, age is just a made up thing by society and its meaning changes as society changes too.

As a writer in my free time I totally get this. I've had characters who met her soulmate when she was 13/14. They then dated for 5/6 years, got married at age 19, had three kids by the age of 21, and they lived happily ever after until the husband tragically died when he was 35. See the difference is, is that when he died, the characters heartbreak was real, you could feel it and understand more then a dumb pop song. As a writer I strive to envision love exactly as Matt describes it. I've had two characters go through heartbreak and it is more powerful because you know the other part of the relationship and you've seen the characters grow. Thanks Matt for going out and sharing this important point and story with the world, as I feel that people should hear it.

Everything Matt said is what I realized when I was like 13, 14 watching my older cousins cry every other month over some guy who broke their heart or cheated on them or yelled at them. It was all so dumb and pointless and for each guy they acted like he was the one their superhero the best man in the world until no. And i watched how each relationship that ended made them meaner, bitter, inwardly desperate for attention but outwardly trying to act like they don’t give a crap. The most meaningful aspect of their relationship was grinding up against each other or laughing hysterically over some movie which is fine but for what? I honestly decided that the only time i would consider guys was when i was ready to be married and in a committed relationship. Thankfully i had a great relationship with my dad we talked and bonded all the time and he helped me a lot. I married at 23 to a 29year old and it’s been almost 8 years, 3 kids (another on the way) and I couldn’t feel more blessed and grateful.
@shasmi932 жыл бұрын
First of all you made that sound like you were banging your dad in your teen years that’s weird…. Second of all I’m glad you found someone and it worked out.… lastly, and most importantly, I think, going through pointless relationships as a teenager and filling those emotions is a good thing, and I think all teens should experience it and laugh at it later in life.. so you didn’t miss out by being so cynical as a teenager. where it gets wrong and sad is when teenagers commit suicide over young love otherwise it’s good to feel those irrational feelings and be a crazy teenager. It’s a fleeting moment in time that you eventually miss.

Matt thank you so much for your honesty and straight forward perspective. Especially the explanation of co-dependence vs. actual love. You hit it spot on. I’m working on getting my clinical social work license and during my internship 9/10 of the people I’ve had sessions with, whether they’re teens or adults, are always talking about “I’ll never find someone else I really loved this person and I don’t know what I’m going to do” but as they go more into detail about their relationship, it occurs to me how unhealthy and unstable it was. It wasn’t going to last because neither of them were emotionally mature enough and there was more selfish behavior than selfless acts. As for “never finding someone else” take a deep breath and realize that there are over 7 billion people on this planet. The odds of you never finding someone else are pretty slim. Anyways terrific video made even better by your blunt outlook and logic.
