It's interesting. 2-Pac's Death Row career was way shorter than ppl may think. Despite the initial excitement for his arrival there, he quickly began recording non-stop to fulfil his record commitment and get off label. He was in the process of finishing "All Eyes on Me" and "Makaveli - The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory" when he passed away. But during that span he recorded so much music they continued to release albums for years after. Including the song "Changes" which made one of the Popes top 10 song list, and numerous others that were within the vein of his earlier work, and even the more aggressive songs. Tupac was a very complex and complicated individual. But the music was undeniable.

That "weird" vocal sound your dad was talking about towards the end of the song is called the "talk box" which is an effects unit that allows musicians to modify the sound of a musical instrument by shaping the frequency content of the sound and to apply speech sounds (in the same way as singing) onto the sounds of the instrument. Typically, a talk box directs sound from the instrument into the musician's mouth by means of a plastic tube adjacent to a vocal microphone. The musician controls the modification of the instrument's sound by changing the shape of the mouth, "vocalizing" the instrument's output into a microphone. And it was made popular by an artist name Roger Troutman who was in a a musical group called zapp & Roger. And he's actual the guy that is briefly shown in the video in the helicopter with the plastic talk box tube in his mouth. California love also samples the song "computer love" by zapp & Roger. You guys should check out some of their songs to. Roger also has some cool solo music he created too. Computer love is a classic, more bounce, chocolate city and so many more. A lot of west coast rappers/producers sampled Roger and his group zapp and roger quite often. Another song that sampled computer love is an old song by tech n9ne called "twisted" from his album angehellic. And Roger actually sang on that track with the talk box. There's actually old video footage of Roger in tech n9ne's house recording his parts in a small little bedroom on KZbin. Roger was an amazing artist. Unfortunately he was shot and killed by his brother Larry in a murder-suicide in 1999 not too long after he did that collaboration with tech n9ne. You guys should check out that song. The whole anghellic album is 🔥

You need to review the to be continued! Which is the remix and album version (my preferred version of the two). Tupac recorded so much material whilst at death row because he wanted to complete his album fulfilment and start his own label. Thats why All Eyez on Me was a double album. Pac was also very loyal to Suge and Death Row for getting him out of jail though which you could say is ultimately led to his death. Fun fact is that according to Jimmy Iovine Interscope records (Death Row parent company) actually fronted the money but had to do it through Suge to avoid any negative publicity.

From what ppl who know Pac say he was extremely Loyal to Suge and Deathrow and he really respected the power and respect that Suge had. Suge got him a house and kept spending money in his pocket and security around him. This is the era where 2pac's day one homies had very little access to him. He wanted to fulfill his contract for 3 albums and then start his own label and thats why he made "all eyez on me" a double album because it would count twice and then Makaveli would be his 3rd and final album on deathrow but Suge wanted him to start Deathrow East so he could focus on bringing more eastcoast artists to Deathrow. Unfortunately Deathrow was heavily occupied by Bloods and Pac had also gotten close to a bunch of them and he got killed for attacking one of their Crip Enemies after a Mike Tyson fight.
