That first case is so awful! What sentence should this man get for attempting to kill his daughter who refused a sexual relationship with and also shot his mother and killed her friend. This man is a diabolical and incestuous murderer...just sick!

I don't know about other states, but in Texas, lawyers have to defend criminals occasionally due to the fact that the person can't afford an attorney. They're called public defenders at that point, and the court assigns them the case. They don't have a choice. I'm sure the attorneys aren't in love with these types of cases. Especially since they're doing it for free.

Totally true. I was in my fifties and a widow when I could no longer afford the rent on my own apartment even working full time. I needed the help of my mother, but unfortunately she refused to help me. I ended up working and trying to live in my car which didn't last very long. Finally I got the help of social services but the whole thing was so traumatic that I never worked again. In this case, being that the man was a felon, he most probably was unable to rent anything. The same mother who refused help to me bought my brother, a felon, multiple houses because nobody would rent to him...

Avid listener to the podcast! You both did a wonderful job analyzing these two cases. I will say, I’m 34 & had to move in with my grandmother. The prices in Seattle are truly skyrocketing & I provide my Grandma care so it’s a win-win. I do not think him being 42 & living at home is relevant (the word we live in is expensive). That was my only criticism-but I’m not harping on that. You both are wonderful & provide great insights.

The more I find out about Anna Garcia the more I love her. I love that she goes to museums while traveling and that she gets stuff our of the trash or second hand. She's an icon lol Also j had a pair of ruby slippers when i was little (1993ish) from a costume and wore them everywhere until I grew out of them lol

Thank God they were in a city that had enough cops on duty to get to them quickly. Can you imagine if she called 911 & was put on hold for a long time?

1st case was perfect for a psychologist to talk about incestuous people. Instead, we get a New York lawyer in a pairing that was dumb enough for twins.

SIR. you dont get a lighter sentence because you found some stupid law loophole. Its not a loophole. Those guns are supposed to be non-functional. get your ass to jail while the rest of us discuss who we give novelty guns to.

I love the endorsement for Simply Safe that comes right after the case of the father shooting his Mum, her friend then his daughter and he was alresdy in the House. Not sure Simply Safe would be of any use if someone is already in the home.

Holy crap, I live like a three minute drive from the neighborhood that sorry excuse for a father did that in. I’d heard about the case but had no idea it was in my backyard practically.

I wish you guys could hire an extra host, or a backup host or something for when Ana can’t stay professional. Ana is NOT a good podcast host. She takes some of these cases way too personal & when she gets on her soapbox she becomes almost incoherent & makes no sense. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to sit through an entire podcast when Ana is on a rant.
