thankyou for sharing your journey! i have me/cfs and pots. been trying different diets but never carnivore, thinking about trying it from listening to you and others with me/cfs and other chronic illnesses. Have had the experience of getting extremely tired when consuming large amounts of red meat so im a bit worried about that, but maybe the body will get used to alot of meat after a while? I really relate to your chocolate "situation", i have had many different food addictions and they are extremely hard to get rid of when you have a chronic illnes, since its the little joy we have through the day.. so good job on reducing it to dark chocolate! best wishes from Sweden :)

Hello Patrick, There are potential issues with following a restrictive diet such as the carnivore diet, especially for someone with CFS/ME. CFS/ME patients often have a variety of nutritional deficiencies, including essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, B12, folate, magnesium, glutathione, and iron. While a carnivorous diet provides ample iron, zinc, B12, and other nutrients, it lacks critical nutrients for CFS/ME patients, such as Vitamin C, B1, folate, and magnesium. These deficiencies can be particularly detrimental and should be addressed with appropriate supplementation if foods high in these nutrients are not consumed. Please keep this in mind to ensure a balanced and supportive nutritional approach. Best regards

Thank you very much. I’m on some magnesium already, and take a light b vitamin complex by ‘time health’. I’m going to add in a little vit c soon. I appreciate you taking the time to make those suggestions.

@@me-cfs-strategiesforhealing Have you checked out the information provided by Dr. James DiNicolantonio about balancing the acid load from eating animal based using bicarbonate/citrate? Btw, manganese and B6 are also often low in CFS/ME due to HPU (Hemopyrrollactamuria). Meat is quite low in manganese.

If you're going to look at a doctor for carnivore advice, look at Ken Berry, or Anthony Chaffee, here on KZbin. The TLDR is that you do NOT lack vital nutrients eating Carnivore. Vitamin C needs are very small if you are not eating carbs, and are supplied by the meat you eat. Excess vitamin C is turned into oxalates, which are definitely contraindictated. Dont supplement Vitamin C on carnivore. Look at the carnivores who suffered various illnesses and did blood work. All of them report normal levels, in general. A friend of mine has reversed numerous conditions using carnivore as a basis, and adding targeted amino and mineral supplementation. In 9 months he reversed or became asymptomatic in diabetes, neuropathy, radiculopathy, sleep apnea, energy lack, skin sensitivities, digestive upset, gerd, muscle atrophy, planar fasciitus, and more. He is taking targetted vitamins ( a few B vitamins) because he is doing iodine supplementation to remove bromine, and to address systemic deficiency. Otherwise he takes no vitamins. Only Amino's and minerals, which are all designed to address toxicological issues and glandular/liver health. There is a lot more to this. Check out Bart Kay if you want brutally truthful analysis. You are doing great!!

If you have not tried the carnivore diet yourself, your opinion on it means absolutely zero!

@@imed there is no "acid load" from eating meat. Meat is easy to digest, and requires less acid than carbohydrates to render nutrients. Non physiologist doctors seem to love taking numbers out of context and creating "methods" that are unneeded, or plain useless.

So after 3 weeks carnivore strict with 70 percent fat being in my macros I felt much better however my heart rate was generally running higher than when I was on carbs. This is because of the body running on stress hormones which is apparently hard on the adrenals and “fools gold” in terms of energy. I decided to stop it and started animal based however energy and mood still best on carnivore. Have you looked into this side affect of carnivore or experienced it ? Body being in a much more stressed state without having carbs
@me-cfs-strategiesforhealing18 күн бұрын
Yes, I am aware of that problem but I'm not sure how to fix it. I'd assume higher fat but it seems your diet already was high in fat.

Hello Patrick, great topic! A quick question, prior to starting this diet, have you tried ALC? (Acetyl-L-Carnitine)? If so, did it help you? I just started it...

Unfortunately, there isn't yet. I did ask them. They are working on getting it on Amazon Europe which would mean that the delivery/custom charges would be done with. Suggest subscribing to their list to see when that change happens.

Six years. I can often walk 8-10,000 steps per day now on good days, 6-7,000 before starting. It’s hard to put a percentage on it. It is harder to crash and I recover better if I do.

I had much more stable energy throughout the day, maybe only needing to rest 15 minutes after lunch (unless in PEM). My stamina was noticeably better and PEM lifted more quickly. Mood was better though still low at times. I've definitely noticed a drop off in my functionality since I stopped doing it. I was 95% carnivore. I still had one cup decaf coffee and four squares dark chocolate per day. The chocolate messed things up a fair bit and I want to cut that out too.
