hey, so since this video isn't public, maybe this comment will have a better chance of being seen by the creators. i wanna thank psych2go for creating such a positive community. I've never felt scared to express myself here. that's due to the people that run this amazing channel and the people with good taste that subscribe. also, I don't really see anyone saying much about psych2go's interaction with their community. they have nearly five million subs, (as deserved), a whopping five million people! and yet, whenever I read the comments of a video of theirs, most of the comments are liked and/or responded to. to me, that shows real care. anyone can say, "I care about my fans!" but they put in the effort. in short, I'm just really glad you're here. you teach me about the things I want to learn and school won't bother to talk about. happy new year to all of you wonderful comrades!

I actually shook off depression with all of these things as part of a daily routine consistently for 6 months. Then sadly, after some drastic shifts at work, depression managed to engulf me all over again. If your depression is moderate this will work wonders, but don't be afraid of reaching out to your doctor about medicated therapy options. I was afraid of going that route, and staggered through 9 months of waiting for things to hopefully get back to normal while doing what i could of the routine. .. but now I'm back to it and couldn't be happier.

@m.a.30833 жыл бұрын
I once read an interview where the person said that many people who aren't depressed see fixing depression as a one step process (meditate! Or start running! Volunteer and see people with REAL problems!), but those with depression know that it's more like a jigsaw puzzle, you have to try to put together all the pieces that will work for you. For me, one of those pieces is seeing a psychiatrist and medication. Without medication, I'm too much of a mess to even start a routine. Medication doesn't completely "cure" me of depression though, so finding these routines helps. Sometimes its easy to feel like, oh, if I had just done (insert whatever routine here) consistently, then I wouldn't be depressed, so it's my fault I'm depressed because I'm lazy. You might not need medication forever, or maybe you will, but a person with any other health condition wouldn't feel ashamed or weak for having to take the pills needed for their heart or kidneys or whatnot. This is really poorly written and I hope its not coming off all wrong but what I'm trying to say is I'm glad that you realized medication is one of your puzzle pieces and for anyone else reading this who isn't getting the relief they need from good habits, try talking to your doctor as well! The puzzle piece of good habits might not be able to be connected if right now there is nothing else to connect it to.

Same!! I was able to help myself naturally without meds for over a year, until I had some major setbacks and things gradually started getting more difficult, despite my daily routine. Especially if you’re trying new things, since it’s new territory you may not know how to get by at first. So now I’ve just been put on medication. Kinda sucks, I’ve always preferred the natural route and have tried avoiding medication as much as possible, but I literally can’t help myself anymore. 🤷♀️
@ThatJay2833 жыл бұрын
@@junespilot Ive been depressed for at least 2 years now and Ive gave in and seen a doctor about it, he put me on medication which does work but it doesn't fix everything, I'm still depressed just less depressed. Like now I actually have some good days instead of it being a mix of bad days and not bad days. I would have liked to go a more natural route without modifying my brain chemistry with medication, but it helps me and the side effects aren't an issue for me anymore. For me it's a piece in the puzzle, without medication I'd have no motivation to do mindfulness, which I do have somewhat of a motivation now, so while my sessions are short and before bed (I need to have a good schedule for longer sessions and not before bed), I'm still doing them

I heard in a podcast that said, “it’s important to live life by design rather than emotion. Basically, sticking to a routine is what allows us to be the healthiest version of ourselves (especially when you're fighting these demons ex. OCD for me). I’ve had to overhaul how I approach taking care of my brain (exercise, journaling, studying etc) by practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 40-60% effort into my journaling habit - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on my yt channel. After a really bad depression phase I started to believe I couldn’t change and I’d feel that horrible forever. Historically I have a habit of going too hard, not being able to sustain the Herculean effort, giving up and hating myself. So now I’m trying to give a small, consistent mediocre effort everyday. And its crazy how it adds up. I’m still figuring out how to be a person again, reintegrate into society but right now I have a solid foundation that I’ve never had before.

For someone who's never experienced depression it might be hard to understand and they could even label it laziness, but when you are in a depressive state doing routine things that other people do without thinking can give you a small sense of accomplishment when life feels like one giant mountain to climb. Like for me when I wake up and feel like I just can't do anything, just getting up, taking a shower, getting dressed, having breakfast and doing a few household chores makes me feel better. Really celebrate those small accomplishments because for a depressed brain it was amazing to overcome the urge to not do any of those things.
@The54321to3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I just wished the others knew how hard we were trying just by getting up and doing something. It's hard to explain to others when all they do is judge you for doing what they see as the "bare minimum". All we can do is ignore the harsh words and know that we are trying our best though, because we are. GB. Take care! 💞

From a person who has been suffering for years actually daring to go out, setting dreams again splitting them into little goals volunteering, doing something that feels good like helping others, being of service is the best cure, and bit by bit learn to build a supportive tribe around you it could be one or two people but "real" support system. You nailed it! Because depression has gotten scarily severe a few times in my life, I learned to do the things you've mentioned decades ago thanks to excellent therapists and psychiatrists, and am motivated to keep it up. The main thing is to keep doing these as prevention, and also when depression is in the milder stages, before doing anything becomes impossible. And really key is to aggressively pursue top notch mental health experts, consistently adhere to medications and change when they quit working, and remember that this is a DISEASE THAT CAUSES THE BRAIN TO LIE!!! My goal is to practice patience, because I never know if tomorrow will be the day depression lifts, and to tell my brain to shut up: I am not lazy. I am not a loser. I am not a slacker. It's not my fault that I don't accomplish much or sometimes anything. So, I try to wait it out and practice acceptance, because it always gets better. I just don't know when. And it is a disease, one I didn't ask for and certainly does not define my character or self worth. Since I'm mostly in remission, I know who I really am, and it is not what I want to tell myself, that nasty internal voice uttering unkind things when I am depressed.

I really appreciate that you shared your personal simple routine for the day! As a retired Christian grandmother, I have scattered days, broken schedules, and some personal health issues to manage. Without any deadlines, time clocks, I’m so free to sleep in, be lazy, work all day, go visiting, whatever I wish to do or not. I needed this reminder to bring some order back into my life. I have lost my boundaries thus I seem to have lost my way at times. I love that you begin and end your day with the Father focusing on gratitude, and what is positive! I need the rituals of certain things that I have abandoned and this is a motivation. Blessings.

Keep yourself busy even you dont like it - move your body And dont ever pay attention to your thoughts or how you feel this is the trap of depression. Remember that. I healed so will you! We didnt got born to live in depression its a part - experience it and then move further and know better days are coming sooner or later even it hurts right now.

My mother and her side of the family is usually the happiest, they stand by these things, although they are not aware themselves that they're doing it most of the time. It's just in their culture, as Masbateños (a subgroup in the Philippines), to just be happy about things, set schedules, and be social. In dark times, she's usually the one who lightens things up in the family. I had teenage issues and depression, sadly, I hadn't got much of her personality, but I now slowly try to be better. Thanks for the vid btw ❤️ Keep doing more in the future 🧡

After I have had my 2nd nasty depressive episode recently I came to the conclusion that the healing process is long and hard. You have to be caring and loving towards yourself and at the same time disciplined and tough and put all the tiny bit of strength and willpower you´ve got left into getting better. Remember - If you think you´ve got noone to do it for, at least do it for the future self that will look back to the rough times and say "Damn I´m so proud of myself for having overcome this and I´m glad to be alive. I´m strong".

Safe to say, my depression is getting easier to deal with. It's still there, but instead of thinking that I would be doomed with no apparent reason, I simply just think that I would be fine at the end of the day despite all this challenges... It's a long journey of acceptance and realization to even reach this state of mind. I hope those who are still struggling with depression, can get the help they needed and finally be at peace with themselves and their life .^^ ]

@piiinkDeluxe3 жыл бұрын
@@dipaverse i see. 😕 I am no professional but in good therapy for over a year now and learning in life in general. I can list some advice that helped me and or might be helpful to you. - try not be hard so hard to yourself. We have all been thrown into this world and are learning as we go and it is ok to make mistakes. I grew up learning that I had to do everything perfectly and the expectations were just always higher than what I could reach. So when I was doing something my mom would tell me 10 other things to do and when I finished one thing it was onto the next. So throughout my whole childhood I learned I could never be good enough, and no matter how hard I try, I could never finish. So in the end I refused to do anything because it was deeply connected to immense effort and stress. (Idk if this sounds understandable, it was combined with other factors like emotional neglect, that made it severe I guess). As I'm going through the process of therapy, joy is slowly coming back and I start to experience it is possible to get stuff done without severe exhaustion because I took a bit of pressure on myself off. - speaking of pressure. Try to set priorities and feel your limits. It is ok to say, you're done for the day sometimes. Sort out, what project is most important to you and focus on that. - set your goals realisticly. Damn, still hard for me ssometimes. Set the task within your capability. - trust the process! Everything is a process, so are learning things, therapy etc. and they take time. Sometimes decades. But if youu stick to it you will soon notice the small changes. And they become more and more. 😊 Embrace them 💕 (and to learn to think about yourself differently or to be nicer to yourself is also a process, so don't be hard on yourself for being hard on yourself sometimes. 😉) - Breath. Seriously. And some things in life can be like a breathing pattern. Tension and Relaxation. Work and Break. Sleep and Awake. This thought helped me to finally allow myself to take breaks during work and to relax sometimes. That helps. And when I recreate my task don't seem so overwhelming. - Be thankful. - Move your body, learn to feel it. My favorite at the moment is yoga, it helps me to be nicer to myself, to strengthen and stretch, to feel my body and to see progress in things and let go of perfection. - do things just for yourself, because they give you joy. - when you accomplish something, try to reward yourself with the feeling of happiness/joy that you did it. I had to learn that, because my inner reward system did not work, I only learned to fulfill the external expectations of other people, my needs were not met and my boundaries not respected so I just shut myself off from emotions. External rewards did not really help me learn that. - feelings want to be felt. All of them. They come and when you goo through them they'll go. And they're all ok! -> crying is the digestion of your soul ☺ - a good therapist is worth it (best investment of my life ngl) - see which resources are available for you now already. KZbin is fantastic. Some channels I like regarding this: -> How to ADHD - great advice for self organizing, no matter if ADHD or not. -> therapy in a nutshell -> psych to go -> patrick Teahan For yoga: -> Mady Morrison These are my very personal experiences. So idk but I hope some of it is a bit useful to you. And remember: You are worthy! ❤ No matter what you do or do not do, no matter the feelings you are feeling, no matter what people told and taught you in your life and no matter what pain you might be carrying. You are worth it and you deserve to be treated nicely by yourself. ☺ Best wishes 💕

Trash the to-do lists as they can feel overwhelming. Instead, start with 1 small goal. Once you accomplish it, repeat it the next day & the day after until it becomes a daily habit. Gradually, you can add more goals & work your way up to a full routine. An excellent tip I learned is to start with taking a shower. You don't have to worry about anything else - just focus on that 1 task. Even if you just lay in the tub, it's a start. As she said, you'll feel refreshed, energized, & maybe motivated to achieve more. 😊

Alongside a healthy daily routine, figuring out the deeper origin of your depression can really help -- especially if you're resilient and only develop depression after the 5th, 6th, 7th etc. major life adversity that really hits you hard. Often there are just are real situations in your life that leave little to be happy about and it's your inner way of knowing things need to be different.

When you embrace positivity in any form, it's not that hard to defeat the darkness.😁 So, I believe in all of you who are fighting against depression and any other struggles! One day you will find total serenity and contentment in life, and I look forward to that day for each and every single one of you. I love you all ❤️

Really good advice for these trying times. Being retired I've found my routine has gone off. This will help getting back on track, thank you

this appeared in the annotations after watching the new year video, I can't help but notice the DO NOT PUBLISH right there in the title, that should probably be fixed, just saying...

Healthy could be dieting but instead of using a generic diet you should follow one that has being made for you especially, there are a lof of variations of healthy pancakes. 🌟

I know I'm a minority in this field so it was nice to see another who prays to God expressing gratitude. It's an encouragement for me that I'm not alone. 😇🙏

God has really helped me too. I feel at most peace when I am in nature and also doing healthy things. I just tell myself some days...just do your best and try to move the needle in the right direction.

@@unknown-lf6zx I haven’t been the best example to my religion. I love god, I do. I don’t know if I believe in him or not. I think I do. something changed tonight. I started feeling my depression fall into my brain and felt like going to cry, this was during my family’s family home evening. I started thinking, I need to start reading the scriptures and start getting into god more. It might help me a lot in life. this video helped me a lot and seeing this community, somebody like you and the person we both relied too, it makes me feel good. I feel like I’m surrounded with people that understand me, that know they can help.

If i didn't pray for a long time does he love me? I feel ashamed
@kam99103 жыл бұрын
@@Wonder779 ofc he does!! he loves anybody no matter what they do, if you started too then that is amazing and you made a great choice. But not praying, that’s okay! it’s a choice.

Now I understand why certain cultures (the conservative and misogynist one ) made rules especially for women like this : 1. Not to dress freely as they find comfortable. (Cos, making right comfortable feels for ur body, is directly conneted to levels of confidence and being denied autonomy i.e. going away from self care, can mean depreesed and submissive and powerless memtal state ) 2. Women were restricted from goung out of 4 walls, and if they do go, were attacked- Being caged in same env for whole life, seeing same faces, same hard routine and no fresh air, ca make a person depressed and hence 'Fearful and submissive' 3. 'Reserving'Female human's body for exploitationby a man or future huaband, i.e. 'Considering her own body as some stranger third party's authority, takes her away from being 'Grateful and Emotionally involved in her own body and body parts', it gatekeeps her from 'Knowing, understamding her own body, caressing it, seeing her ownbody parts as SOMETHING HERS, and finding it valuable, and having a sense of belonging for own body', it forces her to not see her own body parts freely (and hence not have self knowledge and happiness thru visuals of her own body on how beautiful it is ),it forces her to not touch her own body and practise self care, it makes her avoid wiping sweaty body, dressing as perneeds or climate changes, or sporting exercising, etc. And these all things are equal to SELF HATING, OR BEING ISOLTED FROM OWN That makes a woman, 'Low esteem, less cofident and depressed

I really appreciate this! It reminds me to do the things I had given up on doing such taking care of my sleep and exercising... I've feeling depressed ever since my grades went down hill but listening to this really encourages me to get back up again 😊

My mental self care includes watching your videos to sort the chaos inside my head. My ex left me a month ago and I still try to find out what makes me happy again and what doesn't cause more damage to my mental health. It's very hard, but at least I give it a try.
