@@holly.grows.wilder I took about 2 weeks to start seeing the slips. Some are sprayed with something so they don’t grow slips. The first one I tried was in water for a few weeks and then I went and bought an organic one. That made all the difference. Also I kept it suspended so only the bottom was submerged. I don’t know if that might make a difference🤔. Hope that helps! Let me know! 💕

I make my own compost too! I rotate four beds and the homeowner’s association where we live doesn’t allow composting (infestation of small animals, etc.) so I just bury my veg. Compost in the ground-dig a hole and bury it for three seasons, then plant there and so every three years each bed gets fed that way. I also have a large plastic paint bucket that is my fertilizer bucket where after I mow, I fill it and top it off with water, let it sit for a month and it smells like a barnyard (gag) but I pour it over my gardens and then compost the solid. Free fertilizer! My epiphanies came last year during lock down-I know how exciting it is. :)

My advice on gardening is to prepare yourselves for failure as you will fail, some plant will die but don't give up. I have been growing for more than a year and I only succeed for 20% of my effort. But it's very fun and bring me joy too. there's a lot to learn and experiment.

Love the cardigan and it looks like its thin enough for a 3 season wearability without being too hot. And it looks lovely with your eyes and hair. I say keep it. And I am soo Envious! Wish I had a zero waste shop and bulk food stores. we have 1 that is 40+ miles away and none of the stores will allow us to bring in our own bags at all or baskets and everything is wrapped in plastic. if I need something I just try to get the biggest container of my staples as I can like greek yogurt for my muesli and then reuse the containers for my garden seedlings.

Cardi is gorgeous. Id wrap myself up in it with a coffee and a book. If you have a blender high powered enough to make peanut butter, do you recommend it? I've stuck to hand blenders before for my soups but my past three charity shop purchases burnt out, and a new one didn't last much longer either. I'm looking to invest in one that can blitz my walnuts and hummus and soups and will last me for years if not decades, like my mams Kenwood mixer.

I split my shopping between several shops, as I absolutely cannot afford to only shop in zero waste shops. It feels wrong, it should really be the other way around. No packaging cost, local produce, and yet the price can be two to three times higher that supermarkets, even when the produce is still local (British).
