1:03 this appears to be in Sri Lanka. In some areas, there are electrified fences to keep elephants away from farmers, but most of them have figured out how to break the fence using trees. Some elephants push over whole trees and carry it to a fence. They lean the tree on the fence and step on the tree to transfer the force to the fence. Once the fence breaks, they walk through. It's like IRL jurassic park.

Generally the latex of balloons is thickest on top of the balloon because it's less stretched, so it's not all about being gentle when injecting it, positioning also matters. The same can also be said for medical injections. Medical practitioners need to know what spots are safe or not to inject, what angle to use, etc.

agreed, but gotta say the Australian cockatoo videos are even more impressive in this regard, heaps of them out there with similar, but then feeding one by one as the entire flock sit & patiently wait their turns. I'm doubtful the raccoons do that when the food starts to come
@whattheschmidt11 ай бұрын
Yes, but people need to learn to not feed wild animals. It's not helpful in reality.
@mehere803810 ай бұрын
@@whattheschmidt yes & no, there's lots of factors to consider in making that assessment, in particular long term attitudes towards said species. In Australia, cities are designed with "bush corridors" throughout, so that native animals can travel around & live in urban environments, while also having access to native bushland. People demand this & object strongly to removal of bushland habitats, because they want to share their homes, gardens & lives with native animals. Do you really think that's a bad thing? I don't. People in Australia are encouraged to feed natives via planting native plants in their gardens as a natural food source, along with providing water sources (drinking &/or bathing) but if they choose to feed artificially, while discouraged, information as to what the animals should eat is provided & appropriate foods are readily available in supermarkets & pet stores, for example people used to feed lorikeets bread & honey, which is really bad for them, but nowadays, if artificially feeding them, people will buy speciality nectar formulas for them, due to their ready availability, cheap price & education as to the need to do this if feeding them. After events such as bushfires, native animals readily approach humans for food, rather than starving to death & they don't feel any additional stress in doing so, as they will have had consistently positive experiences from humans when hungry in the past. People in Australia also tend to adopt wild parrots as "pets", rather than buying caged, pet birds, which is FAR better for the animals than a life in a tiny cage in captivity, separated from others of their species & social connections. The racoon equivalent animal in Australia is brushtail possums. They happily live alongside humans & live/sleep either in tree hollows or people's roof cavities & consequently, people understand that if they need to remove a tree a possum is living in, or have a possum in their roof cavity for any reason, the solution is to buy/build it it's own home, in the form of a "possum box" & hang that in a nearby tree to replace tree hollows. People will then provide food near the nest box so as to encourage the possum to move in & once it's moved in, it's not uncommon that they will form a bond with it & feed it a little food on occasion so as to be able to keep an eye on it & keep the connection & show off their "pet possum" to visitors. People will also feed them if they see them in garbage bins & want them to eat healthier foods. Do you really think this is bad? I think the attitude I so often see towards racoons, seeing them as pests that must be driven out of suburbia, is FAR worse than providing human derived food, so as to allow wildlife to successfully live alongside humans, who have destroyed the natural habitats of the native species, therefore making it impossible for them to live in the area without human support. Racoons are cute. If I lived there, I would absolutely be making sure they knew they were welcome in my home & garden & giving them a little food every so often is a great way of communicating that message to them. I don't support feeding native animals their entire food supply consistently everyday, that's a problem, cause if the person dies or for whatever reason stops, the animals suffer badly, but as long as the feeding is done with care & education, I think it is often far better than the alternative of making large areas of our planet uninhabitable to the original inhabitants of said area It's also been shown scientifically to have significant health benefits for humans to be connected to nature, such as by regularly interacting with wildlife
