Must say with all the folks out there giving info about the DJI Mavic products, you are the only one I've come across who has actually explained in detail the RTH function (be it the Mini or 2Pro). Really glad you covered the Compass Calibration and number of GPS satellites required for the RTH to function properly, showing the info from the Manual. Doing this calibration at the beginning of the flying day, would probably solve many of the missed HP landing scenarios. So many DJI drone pilots (I'm guessing) haven't even bothered to download the pdf version to their computers, let alone read it. For Part 107 pilots, I would consider this an absolute necessity. Thanks for showing how to move/update the Home Point. Since I am a visual learner, seeing how this is done, was most helpful. OH! You might include the hovering at 10m after take-off, for about 10 sec, to record the HP. This is a step often overlooked. (Its in the manuals).

This is super helpful. Thank you very much! I just got my Mini and was puzzled why the return to home wasn’t working for me in my first few tentative little flights in my backyard. Now I see that I simply wasn’t far enough away from my whole point to trigger the function. I was a little concerned because it’s just said it was landing, so I thought maybe I wasn’t using the return to home command button correctly. This explains it. Thanks again!

This is by far the best explanation i have heard and seen on YT regarding RTH. excellent pace and information.. Another great video! The DJI manual does not do a great job of explaining the RTH function especially for someone like me new who is completely new to drones. I was looking for an in-depth, visual overview of the RTH function and this was perfect!

I had lost my drone once because it update the home point where it was at that time rather to set the new home point where I had moved and I didn't know how to set it manually on map but luckily then I had to go to find out it for 5 km on bike so your video did very well to learn how it is done.

Quick press “RTH” does do something it stops\pauses the drone into position when flying. Even at full throttle. I seen it on another KZbin video. Seem pretty cool.

On the RC RTH/Halt button just a quick press does do something, it is the Halt button on a quick press. Press and hold for RTH function.

During RTH, yaw can be changed, filming a nice footage at an angle, while still flying a direct line to Home point.

Another great informative video thank you very much. I am considering getting in the hobby and purchasing the mini. I live on top of a hill and was wondering if I set the RTH hight to be 100’ above where I live because of some trees around my house and I enact the RTH when it the mini is at a lower elevation than where it took off from, will it climb to that elevation + 100’ to return home? That’s great! I didn’t know you could change the home point on the mini. Thanks. Why won’t DJI add a setting to tell it to hover if the signal is lost? All other drones have this option. That’s dangerous if you lose signal indoors or in the woods. It will rise up and crash.
