I am sharing some of my highlights this week. I tackled the garden and gave it a tidy. It felt so good to clean the garden after Winter. I also share how I cut my hair at home. There are loads of "how to cut your hair" tutorials in KZbin so have fun finding different ways to do yours.
I also had a baking fail, I tried to make some Mars bar biscuits but had a "kitchen incidend" ( Baking Fail! )
Link to book mentioned: amzn.to/2JF87zl *affiliate link
Here is the ingredients for the Mars Bar Biscuits:
6 X 65g Mars Bars
200G Butter
200g Rise Crispies
250g Milk Chocolate

My son made flapjack to impress a girl in his year. As he was lifting the greasy dish into the oven, one handed, whilst simultaneously trying to take a photo of it on his mobile for Snapchat, he dropped the dish and it landed face down on the kitchen floor. So he did what any 15yr old boy would do, and scooped the greasy heap back into the dish and baked it. The fluffy, hairy flapjack was a big hit, but he had to endure weeks of us singing “my flapjack brings all the girls to the yard...” 😂

My 'failure' was not a baking 'failure', but a baking related 'accident'. I was using an electric whisk to make cake batter. After I added the eggs, I found that the batter was quite yellow. I thought that maybe my the eggs might have been off, or something. So I bent my head forward towards the batter, to smell it. But I bent my head a bit to far and close to the whisks. With the result of my hair ending up stuck in the whisks. I didn't manage to get the whisks out of the machine, for some reason. And this is how my sister found me: screaming and an electric whisk stuck to my head (I held it up with my hand). Now I can laugh about it😅. But back then I was a bit scared that it would have damaged a wound I had from an earoperation a week before. So, the leasson learned is never to bent forward while using an electric whisk😂

This is not quite a "baking" fail, but a "clean your oven when you spill things" warning. I owned a "self clean" oven and decided to set the oven to this setting. What I didn't know is my husband and sons had made a pizza and spilled melted cheese all in the bottom of the oven. After starting the oven cleaning process, I started to smell fire. So I went to the kitchen and there was a ROARING fire inside my oven😮 I called the fire department (who live less than a mile from my house). They arrived only to realize you cannot open the oven when it is that hot because it has an automatic lock on it. So they stayed to make sure nothing else caught on fire in the house and I was so embarrassed!! The moral of this story? Check your oven before using your self cleaning feature.... or if you want a NEW oven, you can do what I did, LOL! YES, I got a wonderful new oven out of this😂😂😂😂😂 My husband paid the price for leaving a mess after cooking!

I’m glad those bars tasted good for you!! ☺️ I’m a decent cooker actually (in fact, I loved to cook and try new recipes 😋) and if it comes to chocolate I can tell it is special on its own way 🙄 if you are working with melted chocolate and a single-tiny water drop fell on it, it will be a disaster and wasted chocolate 🙊 but I can give you a couple of tips; whenever you’re not sure of any process just google it, it will save your ingredients to be wasted (specially on these quarantine times) and if you want to melt chocolate in a microwave just put it in there for 20 seconds, then whisk it and put it back again for another 20 seconds and whisk it again and so on until it is as melted as you want (otherwise what happened to you will happen again), I love to think that kitchen, in general, is like a big laboratory and you can try and learn a lot of things ☺️ much love from Monterrey City, Mexico 😘😘

So true about melting the chocolate! I worked in a kitchen for 15 years and even though I didn't do the baking I would help the cooks doing so. If they were busy they'd get me to check the melting chocolate after about 20 - 30 seconds and reheat again for the same short period. This method worked great!

I loved this vlog....... I've never laughed so much at the baking fail. My ex husband tried to bake a potato in the microwave and it burst into flames. My now husband didn't have much luck in the kitchen either. He was making toast in the toaster and it didn't pop up.....needless to say that burst into flames as well!! My grandma was doing a Christmas pud in the microwave and cooked it in there for 30 minutes....It came out and she asked my mum for a fork, then a knife. The pud slid off the plate, landed on a tiled floor and broke the floor tiles....

Biggest baking fail... when I was around 8 or 9 yo, I was working on a Girl Scout cooking badge and needed to make an entire meal for my family. Can not recall the meal itself but I baked a cake from scratch for dessert using my Mum's huge recipe book. I knew the minute I put it into my mouth something was wrond but my family (bless them) did not say a thing, not even my brother! Mum and I went over the recipe afterward and I realized that instead of a 1/2 teaspoon of salt I had added a 1/2 CUP of salt!! No baking fail will ever compare with that!!

I did a lot of baking when I was ten and eleven with a friend - her mother would sometimes just leave us be in the kitchen, and we made lots of mistakes (accidentally adding twice the butter, for one). i remember quite a few times when we'd have to run around her house swinging towels because something started burning and we wanted to clear away the smoke before her mother found out.

Of my many kitchen fails, I once thought you could "boil" an egg faster in the microwave, shell and all. Everything looked fine till I took it out and it exploded everywhere, including the ceiling. My husband and kids all happened to be in the kitchen at the time and stood staring at me in shocked silence, until I started laughing hysterically. Then it was the funniest thing in the world.

Microwave is ok but only 30 seconds at a time then stir & repeat. My fail is once I made gravy. I did not learn to cook at home and was really winging it. I didn't like the color of the gravy and I remembered my mom would put something in hers to give it a rich color. SO! I put one drop of each color of food coloring and my gravy turned out a gray-blue color. We didn't eat it.

I am not a baker but my daughter-in-law's mother is an amazing baker and cake decorator. My husband loves homemade chocolate cake, so I bought a microwavable chocolate cake kit at the grocery and saved it to have my young granddaughters help me bake for Pop when they visited.. My 9-year-old wanted to know if she should pre-heat the oven. I wish I could have taken a picture of their faces when I told them that we were making it in the microwave, to which my 7-year-old says, "But Bebe, (that's me) you bake cakes in the oven. Gran (d-i-l's mom) always bakes cakes in the oven.!" It was priceless, and they were amazed that a microwave cake could taste so good. LOL! I also microwave chocolate all the time, start at 15 sec , stir, and continue at 5 to 10-sec increments till melted. Easy peasy. I KZbind tutorials :) You have a healthy attitude and balance to this craziness that the world is in now. Love your outlook and your channel

Ages ago I grew up in an eastern town of Maine a stone's throw from the ocean. Needless to say we ate tons of fish and not much meat. When I got married my first Sunday meal was going to be a roast. I got a rather small piece of beef. Just the right size for two. I baked it all night. The house smelt great. I pulled out from the oven a "Rock". We ended up eating the veggies which I knew exactly how to cook. Love your shares, always enjoy seeing the cats. Take care.

Love watching you’re videos. You’re so real and you brighten up my day. Thank you! My cousin uses tea to deal with her grey hair. She says it works. Not sure how quick the results are. She’s 50 and doesn’t seem to have any noticeable grey even though her mom is a complete ‘Badger’. I love that you said that. We are from Wisconsin, USA which is known as the Badger State. So I found it funny. I’m a medium blonde, I use Chamomile tea to brighten it up and I’m 47 with no grey. I believe she uses black tea for her dark brunette. I know I’ve seen the information on Pinterest. I’m going to try to giving myself a haircut. As long as I can still pull it back into a ponytail what’s the worst that can happen. If I mess up at least it’ll grow back and those I’m around won’t judge/care. Ah, baking/cooking fails.. too many to list and some like yours were more batch size related and still tasted good. Not realizing the soup recipe serves 12 so my pot is too small. Most recently at Christmas I broke a glass (Pyrex) baking dish. I had made the mashed sweet potatoes the day before. I didn’t realize that the back of our new fridge had partially froze the dish. Even though I had it sitting out for a while the temperature shock cracked the dish in the oven. Thankfully it held together until I took it out of the oven and got the sweet potatoes out. Then it split into two pieces sitting on the trivet cooling down. It was comedic. Can’t wait for the next one. Hugz

Dainty Diaries I’m sure you have some black tea in your house but not some you’d want to use on your hair. I buy cheap Camomile for my hair. It’s the only cheap tea in our house. Hope it works for you. Hugz

Your videos are so fun and a great escape...love the humor! I tried to cook Lutefisk 🐟for my husband, he's Swedish and Finn when we first got married. Well, I tried to cook it like regular fish with spices and lemon...Oh what horror's when it turned to mush in the pan! It looked like melted yellow/green jello.🤢 OMG! And the brown beans were too raw... I'😅ll never forget the look on his face! LOL...we eventually had a great laugh about it. I would love to have a Baily's Bunny right now but don't have the supplies. I look forward to when this is all over and I can enjoy one with my hubby. 🐰🍨👍🏼

Hahaha you and me have the same coping skills...... Naps🤗 Work/play in the garden is good for the soul. Miss it so much. My cooking fail from way back, like I was 17yrs old, my Dad left me instructions to make a meatloaf, well I decided to get creative and I added garlic. Needless to say he was not happy that I ruined supper and the dogs! wouldn't even eat it!!! That's BAD. LoL 😁

I've never seen anyone cut grass in a dress, much less such a pretty dress- I was so worried something would hurt your legs 😱😁. I hope one day you will embrace your gray hair, after all, it is just Nature's highlights. My sister-in-law went completely gray before 30 (The whole family went gray 'early') and didn't embrace it until she was almost 50-and it is beautiful. I'm actually jealous because I'm 55 and my hair is only about 30% gray 🙁😁.

Tons of baking fails~no funny ones. Just a tip for the chocolate. Melt it in the microwave in 20 second intervals only. Repeat and stir. It may take only 2-3, 20 second intervals. You’re so cheeky and honest & that’s why you have a great following. Keep going & God bless🙏🏻 Try Yoga stretches & deep breathing for deep sleep and relaxation. Keep going 💐

Totally agree about avoiding the news and radio- it's information overload. I'm trying to just take time to do things on my jobs list and focus on the things I can do rather than what I can't. Although I've been totally emotional today and randomly crying 🙈🤷🏼‍♀️ I think I'll try your Mars bar cakes this week ☺️ stay safe ❤️

Bless you , I'm a chocolate junky, I tried to make myself ill thinking it would stop me eating it ... like if you get drunk it can puts you of the vodka 🤣😂🤣if you understand. So I brought a box of 42 Cadbury cream eggs. So started the day just eating them normally by 4 that day I still had 20 left so I started melting them .. they take ages on the cooker so the last 10 went in the microwave 😳ok it was a huge mistake burnt chocolate has an awful smell . After all that I was not ill and still love me chocolate xx. I'm trying to think I'm doing my part I'm staying home , even when that's what I did before, but I'm a worrier so I've be isolating even more since February. My family will let me know if anything dramatically changes, but for my mental health, Im keeping as best as I can to watching my normal things , and you are a blessing, Im a huge fan . You stay safe . Take care everyone 😉

My eldest daughter decided to cook a cake one morning before myself or her Nanny (Nana) had woken up. She would have been about 9/10 years old at the time. It smelt fantastic and would have been perfect if she had just grated her carrots 🥕 instead of chopping into chunks. Lol A Carrot cake with a difference! Great for exercising ones jaw, although apart from that she did a great job. We didn’t need to call the fire brigade, although, hmmmm may have been fun,if your into that type of man. Lol I prefer a man in a suit any day.. hehe 🙃

You can definitely melt chocolate in the microwave. Melt it on 50% power & in 30 second/1 minute intervals then stir. When you see it is about 3/4 of the way melted stop & just keep stirring. It will melt fully as you stir. I'll be happy to teach you to bake if you give me a local's tour of Dublin after quarantine!

You go girl! Doing the yard work in a dress. You amaze me! You're a badger in Ireland, we are cougars in the USA. Chocolate will melt just fine in the microwave if you just nuke them 30 seconds at a time.

Catherine ya crack up,😁. I cleaned up my garden too, changed some pots. Monty Don is a favourite in this house. I once made some pancakes and my husband asked if we were having curry because he thought they were Naan bread. Thanks for the recipe. I’m going to make some. In my picture icon. They are my grandsons, one boiled a pot dry and the other one made some scones that were so rock hard he painted them grey and put them in the garden. I agree with going off line and tele for a while, it’s like having a brain break. Thank goodness 😅 I can catch up with you. P.s. my grandson reckons I should watch Derry Girls. He thinks I’ll love it. What do you think. Smiles from down under 👍😀💐🇳🇿

Also a year late but never too late for a laugh 😆 when I was new(ish) in the kitchen, I went to pull something out of the oven but one of my oven mitts came off. I panicked and decided (that the best option was???!) to just _quick_ close the oven door 🥴 The mitt caught fire but luckily my mom was there and pulled it out with tongs before a total disaster. The mitt died but the house is still standing 👍🏻🙈 Love your channel, the worst of quarantine is over but you’re still getting me through some tough times!!💕

Your baked goods looked good. My big baking fail happened when I was about 10. I was trying to make my Dad a pecan pie. I filled the pie plate too much. Halfway through baking...it bubbled out of the pan and all over the oven. The pie ended up delicious. But the entire bottom of the oven was burnt black. All the fire alarms went off too!

You don't need a pressure washer to clean outside, just buy some stuff called Block blitz. You just fill a watering can, add the powder and water the ground. A few days later your patio/ ground will look fantastic! It's that easy!a. It kills weeds and miss and alive as well as cleansing, it's amazing. xx
