These DETAILED, frame by frame, tutorials allow me to clearly visualize the moves before I am on the water. I "do the dance" in my living room and then go on the water. I can stay on foil for 20% of my jibes, but I am getting better with every session. There is no shame in toughing down on a jibe or foot switch. Thank you!!

Very helpful, thanks. One thing Harry said I think is backwards. He said if you are front foot heavy to move your foil forward. I think if you are back foot heavy you want to move the foil forward to give you more lift.
@smytharmstrong85433 жыл бұрын
I believe you are correct -- I was surprised the host agreed with this statement. With too much front foot pressure you should move the foil back for less lift to balance the board.

Jibe to toe side, land to the water off foil, switch feet then back to foil. I like the , create some lift for the foot switch. I noticed in the foot view shots, you have your feet closer to the middle of the board than i do. I have my feet closer to the edges of the board so i have more leverage. I will try to move my feet closer to the center before switching. Lift>switch. love the tips. Larry

It's surprisingly similar to gybing a windfoil board. I foil out of my windfoil and wingfoil gybes toeside. The trick to turning on a foil is front foot pressure and bent legs. Get low and turn the board in with your feet, not your hips or shoulders

Question to Harry: Do you wingfoil more than you kitefoil? I am three years older than Harry and started kitefoiling last year and with Covid people in the UK are having holidays at home and my local beach at Bantham is now crowded in the warmer months. I only managed 5 sessions last year due to overcrowded beaches. This year will be the same so I am thinking of selling my kitefoil and buying a the new Naish 125 litre wingfoil. Hence my question do you still kitefoil. BTW, great videos guys, keep them coming....

@DamienLeroyYouTube Жыл бұрын
Did you see this should help same concept on water. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJrTg62YhsScZrs
@kshred30433 жыл бұрын
Why the lift ? Is it because you first step forward with the old back foot which would otherwise drive the board down too much ? Or is it because it momentarily reduces your weight, ie: akin to how you become light after an elevator transitions from accelerating upwards to heading upwards at constant velocity ?
@DamienLeroyYouTube3 жыл бұрын
All great questions... A foil is like a unicycle on the water so if you have your weight on both feet and shift to one foot the board will rise up or fall as weight is displaced depending on front or back foot... That is why we recommend the rise up and almost get weightless to make the switch the board and foil will react the least doing it this way! Hope that helps.....
@edenburb3 жыл бұрын
So.... I feel like im really having to put pressure on my front foot to keep the foil level, which way do i need to shift the foil - forward or back to get more balance??
@DamienLeroyYouTube3 жыл бұрын
You will move your foil a little farther back on the board, that will help bring the center of balance back to take pressure off your front foot. Enjoy friend.

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I end up putting my feet in different places on the board in order to balance the pressure between my feet. Focus on maintaining power throughout the gybe and not touching the board down on the water. Ride toe side for as long as needed. The footwork is really, really tricky on a foil. Keep your feet near the center balance point between pitch, roll and yaw axis’. Beware of rolling to leeward and falling on the hydrofoil wings.
