Damon, your accent is really good! I don't speak Portuguese but I do speak Spanish so I understand a bit :) I tried Duolingo to practice my German and it was helpful, but I've found the best way to learn languages is the way we do as babies: listen, repeat, try to speak. Not translating (although, that's how I learned English, especially vocabulary. I would listen to music, repeat without knowing what I was saying, then download lyrics and try and translate them. Now people mistake me for American which has always been my goal language-wise WOOPWOOP)

ok so i use something called mango languages and you have to sign up through your library ( some have it some dont). and its not like duolingo where you type the words or select the right choices. it's more for listening and learning to speak. theres also like cultural or grammar notes along the lessons. and they have like over 50 languages, even got small ass languages like cheokee, dialects of arabic, latin, yiddish, etc. so any major language you want to learn is prob on there. they also got speciality units like text language for spanish or romance for french. so its good af and i love it.

Over 5 million Africans were brought to Brazil during the slave trade. More than 10 times what was brought to North America. So Hate to break it to your friend that people think she's black because her mother is black. Brazilian is not a race. There's white, black, Indian, and Asian Brazilians. Just a quick history lesson. Not trying to claim her..because she doesn't seem to sharp.
@TheHeartRobb8 жыл бұрын
+omar15020 I think she means black as in African American(ethnicity). She identifies as black when it comes to her race.
@omar150208 жыл бұрын
+RobertLoveLiveLife I don't believe so Robert. She said people think I'm black, but I'm not. I speak to people in Brazil everyday..Brazil is like America was in the 60's, as far as black(African) pride. Especially in places like Bahia. I don't care if she doesn't want to refer to herself as Afro-Brazilian. I just want anyone watching the video to know that many Afro-Brazilians are proud to heritage. The guy in the video looks like he didn't even care..he didn't even mention anything about race. She went out of her way to say that.

Congratulations on your engagement! I can not bear to see so many people saying that Portuguese is very difficult, a great exaggeration. They say this because they never tried to learn Chinese, Russian .. Both foreign and Brazilian have no respect and not defend their language, which is one of the most spoken (6) in the world and is still treated as "ill-spoken Spanish." Keep working to prove otherwise!

This helps. Thanks. I'm one of those people who seem to learn better if I hear something repeated over and over again. If I go a few weeks without hearing something I tend to forget what it is that I heard. Reading or some other way to learn helps but to me it isn't the same as hearing it. I can read it but if I don't know how it's pronounced it doesn't really help at all. We all make mistakes. We're not perfect. I speak English all the time and mess up a lot of words. You'd think I was just starting to learn English. Get tongue tied and say the word wrong. Plus words seem to be pronounced differently depending on what part of the country your living in. Have a great day. Hope I made some sense. Things go through my mind so quick I have to stop myself at times and sort things out. I've noticed at times I'll be thinking one thing and somehow type in something not related to what I was thinking. How does that even happen?
