You know, believe it or not, I just had a nightmare. I woke up and was just in shock. First thing I did was turn on a Hickok45 video (I watched an older one - it was Glock 19 vs Beretta 92 FS). That’s because they are super enjoyable, relaxing, and friendly. You just get warm feelings from them. So thank you Hickok45, you calmed me down tonight. I will never forget that.

John, I think people have such a fondness for your Dad they feel he is like a family member or a father figure. I totally enjoy watching both of you and I am very happy to see that you have serious skills like your father. Now as for this video that is a beautiful pistol and I agree on the .45's and 10mm. Some may conclude that my love for the .45 is somewhat based on your video "Why I Carry A Firearm" But I just like big bore firearms which actually I was inspired by what your father said regarding the .45 caliber LC, ACP etc and the history of it so I had to buy one. Great video and you both keep them coming please.

Dan Wesson's are all steel and no MIM parts. They are all hand fit to tight tolerances. Parterning with CZ was a production plus. In first quarter of 2020 their DWX will come out! A CZ grip with 1911 single action. CZ 75 grip melts into your hand!

But now that I think about it the lever on the ejection side for lefties does stick out more for some reason. It also goes under the grip panel if I remember right. I own a Valor Commander 9mm stainless steel and agree with John that it's a very good 1911. It is well made and the fit and finish are outstanding. The trigger is very crisp and around 3 pounds. It is a pleasure to shoot 9mm and it shoots accurately.. I got 4 Chip McCormick Range Master 10 round mags to go with the two 9 round factory mags. I finished breaking it in with around 400 rounds of factory ball ammo and had one failure to return to battery during the first 50 rounds. Otherwise it has run perfectly. I'm going to start reloading match ammo for it since I plan to use it in IDPA ESP class. As other have suggested, keep it well oiled and it should last a very long time. In case you're going to chime in about a 9mm 1911, I also own a STI Trojan in .45 acp that I've shot in IDPA CDP class.

Long term Dan Wesson vs Kimber review; My 1st gun was a Kimber Custom II (the cheapest Kimber), over 1800 rounds through it with 5-6 malfunctions (all but 1 mag related but surprisingly not with factory "throw away" mag). This gun taught me what I do/don't want in a 1911 which lead to my 2nd handgun, DW LASD 5" Specialist. So far almost 900 rounds. Here's the differences I've come to learn; - DW finish in my experience is far superior & worth the extra $ - Kimber (series 80) has a slightly better trigger than (series 70) DW (DW has more take-up but otherwise equal) -"My" DW (you mileage may vary) doesn't lock back on ACT mags, Kimber loves them -1st time shooting the DW I put 6 rounds in the same hole at 8yds (of course both are more accurate than I'll ever be) -both feed every type & brand of ammo I've found (HP or FMJ, brass, steel & aluminum case) -the dirtiest ammo I've used (brass case FMJ) the Kimber went over 120 rounds before choking on dirty feed ramp, DW went 83 *Now, I live in Kanada so I can't carry, but I had to break in new holster so I wore the DW loaded all day at home, I'm only 5'8"/160# & weight wasn't even an issue, when I get Non Resident Carry permit for USA roadtrip I have zero issue taking DW so enough with the "it's too heavy" BS lol! Especially when you're 6'8"! :P
