Its such a shame that during Poe's life up until his older years his literature was overlooked and never got the fame and notoriety that he deserves. Although with the type of man he was, he would probably not want the attention of fame anyway. Very humbling talented man. Thanks for sharing Dan

Poe is one of my favorite artists, and was my favorite writer growing up. His biography is as tragic as they come, but what I admire most about him is his dedication to his craft and vivid imagination. Many of the fears and anxieties we have as humans he encapsulated with his characters and framed them around the natural horrors we all encounter at some point in our lives. The fact that he was never recognized until after his passing lends greater credence to his legacy. He was never a celebrity by any measure.

There is nothing better than enjoying a favorite book, or discovering a great book for the first time. What a lovely place to go see the works of Poe. He was so tragically broken and brilliant.

This exhibit and your video is incredible! I've been an Edgar Allen Poe fan since I was in the fourth grade, when I had a wonderful teacher that read 3 of his books to us. I've read all of his writings many times over and have watched all of the Vincent Price movie renditions of his works. The obituary blew me away, it should have started with "The world has lost a brilliant literary mind, of which many will mourn..." I'd LOVE to visit that library or live close to it, so I could visit often because just it's stunning!! Thank you for making this video!

I read a lot of his stories growing up, but noticed there are still a lot of his writings I haven't read. The drawing of the woman that graced the sheet music to Annabelle Lee kind of reminded me of a young Liz Taylor...the key words being "kind of." Elizabeth Taylor was an incredibly and uniquely gorgeous woman. I'd love to be able to Peabody Museum and especially the Poe display. He was a unique author with a greatly troubled life. I wish we really knew what caused his death. In a way it's kind of ironic that his death was as enigmatic as his writings. Sorry for my excessive reply. Enjoy all of your videos!!!

I love EA Poe...one of my favorite American authors. There aren't too many American literary figures I am really crazy about. I have always preferred Kafka, Camus, Hesse, TS Eliot, to American authors/poets. This is a treat - very cool!

My grandmother wrote with a pen that had liquid cartridges for it. Same sort of writing. She was born in 1885 and dies in 1974. And the pens dipped in ink were called quill pens, I believe.

when i was 3, my grandmother started reading Poe to me,,,she had one of the books with everything in it, but it was the thickest and for some reason that is why i wanted that one..lol...but after a while..'TELL TALE HEART" became my fav...she had it completely memorized in about 3 weeks ..lol..oh, and the lock of hair....seems that quite a big chunk must have been cut from his hair...because i have one of them..my grandfather was an antique dealer...with connections...lol...i never asked him what he paid for it..he would'nt tell me...and it is put away somewhere safe for my children..

You can buy for a few dollars facsimiles of THE RAVEN and ANNABEL LEE online on parchment paper its pretty nice and impressive to own if your a Poe fan.
