I never fully understood why Tara said what she did to Christian at the end of the ep, but with this rewatch I finally see it. Her relationship with him started at the same time as her injury, and her life with the injury felt like a glimpse at a 'normal' life, thus Christian is associated with having a normal life (notice how she doesnt talk about her injury *or* dance while dating him). Everyone keeps telling her that a normal life and her dance life are two separate things that can't coexist, so talking about injury and dance with Christian was like destroying this 'normal life' feeling and fully choosing dance over it. But eventually she started choosing dance, which to her meant not having Christian.

agreed but something you may not have noticed was the whole Cinderella motif going on throughout the whole episode. It was the dance they were learning this episode and it was the voice over. Plus we had the dance with the whole magical night planned out and everything looking as perfect as it could be. Too good to be true if you will. Well then, just like in Cinderella, everything fell apart when it was time to come back to reality. Tara realized that she has to return to the real world (dancing) and we even had the cast being removed as Cinderella's missing slipper. So the "pumpkin" comment is both cute and goes with the symbolism because the carriage turns back into a pumpkin at midnight when the fairy tale comes to an end, just like what happened here. Maybe you noticed that but this is like my 10th time watching and I just realized that so haha

For the record: I've been an actress and had a social life for years, including boyfriends and parties. In a tough business - actually in anything you care about - you sure have to commit and make sacrifices, but it's also essential to get your head of things to recharge the batteries every now and then, or you'll turn into a grim, frustrated, depressed, burnt out individual who ends up hating her/his work. Obviously, dancing is sports, so much more physically demanding, yet you can reward yourself with a nice evening once a semester. I've been to dates (even a prom) with professional dancers and it has not affected their careers.
