Just a little tip, when you're using pvc to contain an explosion wrap it in electrical tape, that way if the pipe does shatter the tape will hold the fragments

I think the CD will actually cut multiple banana slices at the same time. You should seriously consider making the first cut at the banana half, then stacking the two halves for the second cut. This optimization will drastically reduce the number of CD's required.
