The only danger of being single for too long. Is realizing that a relationship has no benefits for you. I think that's part of what you are saying. But when you become happy with who you are. Then a relationship feels more like a cage.

I bet you can just go out and get laid anytime you want, right? So, that can't be the reason you're single. No, it's your _choice,_ right. I mean, you _do_ have a choice here, right. Right???

There is a difference between needing and wanting. Eventually you will want someone. Lonliness is BRUTAL. And thats the trap. For the first few years its great but what they wont tell you is you will devolve into lonliness after many years of being alone.

People are not meant to live life alone. We’re social creatures and it’s sad there’s this growing movement of “people are so [insert negative comment here] so be by yourself”. We should all aspire to be a person others want to be around and do life with. That starts with not viewing others in such a negative way.

C.S. Lewis had this to say: “To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” He is right though. However, the environment out there has grown cold, very cold. Instead of being vulnerable, don more layers. Look, dating has priced itself out of it's own market. Bills do not pay themselves, a great many of us have to work, ALOT. I had to tell my own family, "With what money?" when they tried to pressure me to be more diligent in the pursuit of a relationship. They had nothing to say after that.

This implies that you can attract someone to start with. At 73, I can count the partners I 've had literally on one hand. I'm a plain guy. No physique to talk about, modestly intelligent, no degree and pretty well poor. My career was mostly freelance, in construction, working as a site engineer (Staker) My whole life has been a struggle holding down jobs so in the end, I plumbed for itinerant work, doing the initial set out and moving on. When at work, I was pretty profligate and did things I am not proud of. It really is too glib to suggest we all can find a mate. There are literally thousands worldwide who tread a very lonely path and are caught in a bind. The only way forward is really little more than damage limitation. “Wanting a relationship more only emphasizes the gap between one's reality and one's desire,” Kislev says.14 Feb 2023.

1) How is doing things your own way, in a manner that works for you, “dangerous”. If you’re not hurting anybody, who is being put in jeopardy? 2) Being single is the best time of your life; it sure beats being in a bad relationship. As you pointed out, you get to know yourself. How are those bad things? 3) Someone who is not in a good mental state should not be in a relationship. Period. 4) I’ll add something you didn’t think of. Being single means not being married, which means you can’t get divorce-graped. That doesn’t sound like “danger” to me

Im 34. Had a few relationships, but I’ve been single for several years now. Like virtually all men today battled with depression and severe anxiety, but I’ve found that therapy really can help if you truly want to make it work. And sometimes, rarely, Ativan can help too. As a Christian I try to avoid hookups or casual sexual encounters. I know they would feel good in the moment but still leave me feeling empty and regretful. I’ve been working on my second book for a couple years now and I’m almost done. I think once it’s complete I’ll actually feel capable of being in a relationship, but sometimes God puts you on a journey and you can’t have that “balance” that people talk about until the journey is through. What is “balance,” btw? Does anyone know?

Appreciate you sharing your journey. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders just based off your comment Fam. My opinion is , since we live on earth and with all its unpredictability , balance is something not often achieved or even considerably worth pursuing. Let me put it to u like this , when u can delegate , where you don’t feel overwhelmed, then you’re onto something. When u don’t take on more than you can handle, then you into something . U see where I’m going…. All the best going into the new year and thanks for locking in Fam

This world ain´t deceived, out there to deceive? 9 - 5 working industry was created, because masons wants slaves. Schools systems prepared us for our future slavery. Wise ones reject this and seek GOD and start relying on HIM fully. it is unwise to count on the governments of this world. Didn´t they proved in 2020 how badly far are they from reality? slavery turn no soul rich, the price for such slavery is opposite: you lost: time (1st 20 years = childhood, then comes 40 years for slavery = your 20s, your 30s, your 40s, your 50s, then comes 50 years of being elderly = 60 - 100) health = all these vaccines, which slowly turns you a cripple + man made fake food ( we are dust and should consume which comes directly from dust) life = no time and no health = early grave Each of us shall lose 3 times, gain nothing more then illusions. When reading THE BIBLE (KJV) and complaining abut the slavery in the past, know then this, that 9 - 5 working industry = slavery of our day. You want to know the past - read bible, you want to know present - read bible - you want to know future - read bible.

I've been single for 3 years now and I'm starting to find a balance, a peace. I absolutely don't want to get back into a relationship because I don't see any benefit from it, not even sex. It's all about unnecessary drama, spending extra money and feeling suffocated. I realize there are many unfortunate people with the opposite sex who use it as a coping mechanism, but you have to go through the hell of certain relationships to understand that the only real relationship you have to have is the one with yourself.

I agree with the main point that being single, you exercise the single muscle. I think I have good perspective on this also. I'm 38 and have been single for many years because I moved around too much. But now I just started a relationship. We're both being mature about it. I'm communicating to her that I need to get used to this slowly. And she's being so understanding and great about going through that with me. For others that have been single for a long time: First off, enjoy the time. There's nothing wrong with it. Work on yourself. Secondly, once you do start moving towards a relationship, be really direct and clear in your communication. Don't try to fake it as if you're a relationship pro. Be vulnerable and be honest. "Hey, I like you a lot and I want to be with you. But at the same time, it's been a while for me so I'll need my space sometimes. I'll need to relearn how to be in a relationship. But hey, I'm want to learn that with you."

I've been single throughout my life, I was the ugly kid at school, bullied and disliked, as I got older, still ugly, short, invisible to women, i had a few very short term relationships, the longest relationship lasted 28 days, I think that I would be exaggerating if I said that I have been in relationships for a total of three months throughout my life, my last relationship ended in 1991, I don't want or need to be in a relationship to be content with my life, I have worked in various different places, i own my own house which is just big enough for me, I ride a motorbike, drive a small car, all bought and paid for outright, I work out when I can, I travel when I can afford it, I live what many would see as a boring life but it suits me, being truthful, I don't think that I would know what to do now, I've been on my own for so long, I don't think I will ever be in a position to be in a relationship this late on in my life

I can honestly say with being single for a long time, is dealing with that loneliness of not being with someone, because I still deal with it myself. I’m in my early 30’s and only been one relationship before but it didn’t work out like I wanted. They way I was raised and taught to be was a God fearing family man. Now with that being said; the biggest problem I’ve had my whole life is getting friend zoned; being told that I’ve more of a good friend or a brother they never had. And with each year I find women in general are going for that toxic relationship where the guy treats them wrong, and don’t go for someone like me. And to this day I don’t understand why it’s like that. What’s worse is; that it leaves me wondering; what am I doing wrong, what am I doing that makes them reject me like that. Over time, you start hating it, and you start being hard on yourself because you’re not doing enough in some way or another. And to make it worse you start hating yourself more and more. So it makes it hard to love yourself, when you hate yourself so much. Despite being referred to as a ‘rarity’ in today’s world, it’s really hard to accept that is what the world is like now. But now it leaves me wondering; with the kind of man that I am, is getting into a relationship really worth it? Even after finding my inner peace, and God helping me letting go of these burdens that I have. Am I really meant to be in a relationship with a woman?

Exactly, I'm separated after 12 years marriage, before I got married I had long term girl friends and single periods between these relationships ... when I was single back then, I would meet old buddies from school, skateboard, play video games, listen to doom metal; all those things that I had skipped during the relationships - the desire to do those things had been there all the time in a surpressed way. Enjoy being single, after a long relationship (and especially if the relationship has been bad or sour in the last stages) you can enjoy the freedom, sure keep looking, now you are allowed to flirt again ... so being single is certainly more fun than being in a dead relationship where everything has become mediocre - including an extinct love live.

I do believe that it is possible to be single for too long--and that many people are in denial of this fact. The truth is that marriage at 20 or 30 is very different from marriage much later in life. People don't want to talk about this. But I believe that our Victorian forbearers were much more honest in this area than we are. Especially for women. They quite frankly acknowledged that there was a "sell-by" date for women when it came to marriage and they did not hold out false hope that if a woman wasn't married by the time she turned 25 that she would eventually marry. They were also much more honest about what constituted a marriageable woman or man and what kinds of behaviors or traits would disqualify someone. For example, women who were considered "bluestockings"--intellectual, well-read, well-educated--could look forward to a life of involuntary spinsterhood. Because those traits were not sought after by the average man in looking for a wife. I'm not saying we should go back to that kind of thinking, only that they were in some ways much more realistic. What nobody tells you about marrying later in life is that by that time neither one of you is a blank slate. Even if you yourself have never married, chances are the other person has been, and maybe even more than once! So there may be baggage in the form of exes, children, grandchildren that someone marrying in their 20's does not have to deal with. There may also be elderly parents in the picture that require a lot of care. Both of you may own your own homes and be otherwise established financially so there is that to consider. Not to mention the fact that you can end up being penalized by Social Security (if you live in the US). It's much, much, much more complicated than marrying in your twenties. If you are used to being independent and doing things on your own, all of a sudden now you have to take another person's wants and needs into consideration, and that can be very hard. If you have a age/mobility mismatch, that can also create stress. And there may be sexual issues to deal with as well. I really think it is better to marry at a younger age when you are much more resilient.

It doesn't even enter my mind. I'd gladly start a business relationship with the right person, if we had common interests and goals, but not an emotional one. What makes people think a complete stranger will come into their life, and do good, even improving it? For me, it's the exact opposite: people cause me tremendous nuisance and bother. They regularly irritate me. It's even worse than not adding anything, they actually rob me of my contentment, peace of mind and just attempt to dump all their issues on me. People come into your life to take from you for their own benefit, not to give. Don't be delusional! So I prefer to steer clear, and let others fall for the garbage dressed as a blessing that's out there.

I’ve been single for as long as I can remember. At first it was difficult now it seems as if is meant to be. I do all the hobbies and play in bands , ride dirt bikes ,workaholic. I have finally become so comfortable in my own skin it’s scary. Yes I truly miss the intimacy of being with a women and sharing my thoughts and feelings along with providing support and protection. I just don’t get consumed by it. Hardest thing is filling the void and constantly trying to tell yourself it’s alright and no there is nothing wrong with you. Last girl hurt me so bad I just took that long to recover that it’s hard to give your heart again. There is a girl that I think ticks all the boxes in what I’m looking for, sent her a beautiful bunch of flowers and heart felt poetry anonymously but now dropping little hints. Well she is packing up and moving to another city. Oh well. Try again.

Allow me to ask,(it's a bit long) Personally I had a very hard year from 2022-2023 certain things were not in my control but with God's grace I was able to work through all of it. I was never "romantically" involved before and I do show I don't want to be, but I do. During that rough patch, I made a beautiful lady friend who I love spending time with, and as I was told by her girl bestfriend wants me to "make the move". But I know I am not ready mentally, financially and am Physically exhausted from the sports training I endured to escape from the fact that I was becoming depressed.( I am very young too). I have never been in a romantic relationship before and should I go for it, or is there a time I should wait for.

Well I don’t want to be single but I have to bc no one wants to be in a relationship but want all the benefits n that it’s a no for me. If we r f buddies that what I r to me. Plz don’t ask me to cook for u since u don’t represent me. So I’m single since I was 23 I’m 37 now. Few things but sexless life for the most part. I’m content

Agreed. Men cannot change millions of evolutionary history, even with all the copes (alcohol, video games, drugs, porn, etc.) that exist out there. Long-time singlehood is a fine line between sanity and craziness for the most part, with very few individuals being able to make the best out of it without living a life of "quiet desperation". One that can be easily as miserable as that of the coupled man.

I try some dating systems but it’s a lot of energy and toxic. I meet a girl at work where I have feelings for but turn out she’s lesbian and only care about money and from outside my country. I missing to have a real sexual relationship but all the energy from the feminist women know these days it’s difficult to find a decent and normal thinking women where you can build a future on it

I don't think there is a danger of being single. Contrary, relationships seem to be more risky and dangerous. But I do believe that social interactions are important for one's tranquility and happiness.
