I thought I had passed the test until "those orthobros" basically matched my answer of "rampant convertitis" 😅

I am cradle Orthodox in America and I think the biggest issue facing the church in America is focusing too much on long term goals rather than what can be done right now with the resources we have.

Happy New Years everyone! First, let me say that to Bojan that your St. Nicholas of Myra icon has informed my resolution to turn my back on TV in’25. My hyper focus- The Trinity, Theotokos, and joining the Orthodox Church aka body of Christ this year.

Does sponsoring the Bible Illustrated channel count as almsgiving? 😀 But seriously: I used to suffer from various "hyperfocuses" too, but then God allowed a serious chronic illness and now I'm focusing on managing the prayer rule and attending liturgy, both of which are extremely burdensome. I no longer have the energy to discuss the deprived West and the corrupt East and whatever with anyone...

I agree with ideas of convertitis and orthobro cringe, but now it feels like many normal online orthodox tend to go to the other extreme, and value any conservatism as "extreme" or "zealous" (wait until they read Seraphim Rose!)

@@AlyoshaBosha Seraphim Rose was pretty hard core, which is typical for ROCOR and right for monks but my (Russian) priests and the serbian bishop I spoke to are all very critical of this kind of rigorist approach and didnt recommend Seraphim Rose to me.

@@Martin-hd2tr That is quite unique to hear! From my encounters with Russian clergy, they love him, so this comment surprises me! (Moscow Patriarchate itself with who I talk, not ROCOR)
