Yeah her, Daniel, and Rupert all publicly disagreed with Rowling when the controversy with her and Maya Forester(?) went viral. Unfortunately, many transphobic people shit on them, calling them ungrateful for all Rowling has done for them which is stupid because Harry Potter's popularity largely came from the movies (there definitely wouldn't have been the Harry Potter park in Universal without the movies and most of the merchandise such as robes with the house symbols and colored ties relies on the movies for visuals). @ahassett37 Жыл бұрын
@@ronoc9 wait she did WHAT NOW??!?
@ronoc9 Жыл бұрын
@@ahassett37 So basically many countries with militaries have what's commonly called "Stolen Valor" laws. In the US it's literally called the Stolen Valor Act. The UK has something similar in their Fraud act. The basic idea is, for obvious reasons, you can't pretend to be or have been in the military for profit or gain. In the UK this includes military policing. Robert Galbraith is her penname for her crime series (which is also the name of a nortorious homophobe who pioneered gay conversion torture, but I'm sure that was just an accident), who claims to have been a military police officer. A journalist, curious who this new and seemingly super private author was, especially signed to Bloomsbury, went looking. They first found no record of them ever having served in the military in any capacity. The journalist has a hunch; the same publisher as JK Rowling, the same agent as JK Rowling, the same style and tone of writing as JK Rowling, and JK Rowling has been quiet lately about writing new books lately. So they phoned up the agent, introduced themselves, and out right asked "Is Robert Galbraith JK Rowling?". This was a mistake on their part but a relief for everyone else. Had they uncovered the true identity by themselves, it would have been evidence of a conspiracy by JK, her agent, and Bloomsbury to profit from falsely claiming military service, commiting stolen valor fraud. But because they journalist outright said they had a hunch it was JK, not only did this give them an out, but if charges were ever brought up, the defence could easily say "well, obviously we weren't committing fraud because look, this person was able to figure out it was JK". UK law, especially when it comes to intent, leans very heavily on doubt; if one person figured it out without being told, than anyone could have, thus no one reasonable could assume there was an attempt at fraud. HOWEVER, the question is then raised of "hey, doesn't this still count as consumer fraud?". That's a reasonable question, since the type of person who likes military crime thrillers would likely be persuaded to buy one if they thought the author was a military officer. BUT, because the books are marketed as fictional, and aren't stated to be based on real events, just that the author (or this case, the character) has a connection to the military. In either form, she essentially gets away with fraud, but on one account it was only because of how a single question was worded.

@KimNiles2 жыл бұрын
@@uriurw8630 I've seen more toxic exclusionary language from TERFs than I've ever heard from LGBTQ community. Nobody is saying you are biologically female but that shouldn't stop people from using inclusive language to include all identifying as female in a discussion. I DO know those who plot to take YOUR rights to live as the gender with which you identify with and use the SAME talking points as the TERFs. And their goal is to break apart support for you so they can legally force you into the closet. Rights are not pie - inclusion of basic rights doesn't take away anyone elses rights away. I'm a protective mamabear to a trans son & JK's statements AND explanations have hurt him deeply. He idolized her since childhood but not anymore.

I calmly replied, “yes well I actually hold the same opinions as the actors on this so I sit on their side of the fence.” Then he said that everyone has their own opinion and JK Rowling should be allowed her opinion and I said “and the actors have shared their opinion which is the opinion I agree with”. Also keep in mind that enough of the movie cast and crew were so offended by Rowlings words that they refused to do the reunion special for HBO Max if she was there. They literally got her uninvited for the grand reunion of HER OWN franchise. I think the way they handled it - Rowling having off-location pre shot interviews edited into the special - was a good compromise. But it shows how many people from that franchise disagree and the fervor with which they disagree

I have resolved that that lady will not get one penny from me ever again unless and until she apologizes and tells the Trans community that she was completely wrong. Yes, I'm aware that is a completely meaningless gesture, given that she's richer than Midas and I can barely feed myself and three cats, but it's what I have and maybe if enough Potterheads keep on her, she might start thinking more about it.
