The only wine drinking, bong hitting zen guitar master talking in yins, yangs and chakras that I know of on KZbin....with killer chops....I LOVE IT !!!!! I also happen to love the Dead too so that's a major bonus....

This actually helped a lot with me trying to comprehend theory! Not only are you an amazing guitarist/musician but a wonderful teacher as well.

I'm listening to this on repeat right now. I've been playing for 20 years, and never heard this communicated so clearly.

Pete Seger stayed at a Holiday Inn I was playing at in Wisconsin in 1985. He walked by the lounge but never came in. I was too shy to leave a note in his box. I wanted to tell him I had his instruction record when I was a kid.

Thanks man. I am putting this one under my bookmarks. Currently I am at the stage where I was pursuing only the root notes, but I can see that landing on the 5th and 3rd acutaly gives it a little bit of question and answer feel like the conversation would. Looking forward for further posts.

This is a brilliant lesson... Not only do you give really intelligent and articulate thoughts on seemingly simple questions, but your way of demonstrating it is fantastic too. I think that this is the perfect way of showing how “musical” seemingly basic concepts are, and that if properly understood it actually leads to very advanced, expressive and interesting playing. It’s what you were saying about memorising ideas vs. understanding them; if you understand & master basics, these basics become tools for powerful memorable music. Great music is not “beyond” the basics, it’s built on them!!

Nice one Daniel, I've gone into it right away and what a difference it's made! There's still a lot I have to learn, but even at a basic level that I'm at, it makes a big difference. Really into your channel, thanks for all this great content. I'm no expert but I think, you'll need a mic for people to listen to you more and avoid losing interest brother. Peace from Greece.

I’m just entering this phase of guitar learning, knowing the multiple chord shapes and triads. It totally makes sense. Now I just have to do the work to train my hands!

Its really endless. Something with tension can live forever. Your philosophy in this video is guitar scripture. I'm gonna go add a tritone to your created exercise.

Great lesson! Q: Which paths would you suggest for someone in intermediate level who is trying to find their own sound? (Suppose that person understands the language and is trying to take it to the next level of expression)
@vjensen563 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel, awesome video! On chord changes do you tend to hit the triad notes but still stay in the maj or min pentatonic of the key of the song, or do you switch to the pentatonic of each chord? And if you switch to the pentatonic of the chord, are you mixing maj and min pentatonic of that chord? Thanks 🙏
@samrosenzweig19694 жыл бұрын
This was great! So when you improvise you are mainly thinking of playing notes from the triad plus the related pentatonic... Amaj triad with Amaj pentatonic and Emin with Emin pentatonic. Do you ever think in terms of playing one scale/color across an entire progression like A Mixolydian over the Amaj and Emin? Pros and Cons to that? Thanks for the lessons!
