I read Eye of the World 13 years ago the summer after I graduated high school. Between work, marriage, kids, and buying a farm-I honestly didn’t remember much of it. I recently decided to give the Amazon show a watch-and I absolutely loved it! I haven’t felt this way about a fantasy series in a long time. I totally understand how fans of the books would be upset at the changes and direction the show went. But as someone who basically hasn’t read the books, it’s really good. If you go into it with zero expectations-it’s phenomenal. The same can’t be said about the Rings of Power. My wife never got into LotR, but was really into Game of Thrones. She wanted to give RoP a chance-but even she could see that it was just very sterile. The Wheel of Time show looks and feels like a lot of love was put in it. And the cast are absolutely amazing. I hope book fans can look back on it someday and see it as its own version of the story and world.

@@chicodepuertorico1450 I think I read this book series almost a decade ago. Such good memories. A very beautiful and intricately created world. Sadly, the author had reduced the series to something of a gossip mag towards the end. I remember that at around book 10-ish still there was no sign of the final battle I think. Frankly speaking, if the same author had continued the series , it would have had a very lame ending. Fortunately, one of my favourite authors of all time took up the mantle of finishing this book , and damn did he do a fine job. I understand that much of the plan was previously chalked up, but I am sure if it were upto the original author , the series would have continued till book 20-30 maybe. Speaking of Sanderson , the sheer change that he brought about to the series i.e, the last books , is just mind-blowing . It was like waiting for a hundred years to see a lotus bloom , and in the end the bloom was so beautiful that it makes the long wait all the more worthwhile. If you have time , always check out his other books. Although kindof predictable but the books are amazing. The very peak of Western e-fantasy literature in my opinion.

The Tam Al’Thor Chronicles would have been a worthy prequel series. Perhaps even one written by a secondary writer in the same world, under the supervision of RJ and based on a brief outline - much in the way that the final three books were.
@DanzMcAbra4 жыл бұрын
Think that was one of the planned spinoffs, if I recall correctly. Fairly sure Harriet said we weren't ever going to get those because there weren't enough notes, which is a pity. But then again, I don't think there could ever have been enough content written for this universe. If RJ had lived a thousand years it would only mean there were ten thousand other stories we wanted to get from him. Goddam master, I miss him.

@@DanzMcAbra right, could you imagine a collection of stories similar to the witcher books that details different Heroes of the Horn, that would be so fun

Thankyou for doing this video, I am on book 7 of my first read through and was driving my boyfriend crazy for months trying to put into words what you have. He is now very interested in the series. I am obsessed and ordered all the physical books as well as listen along on audible. I am 30 and always remember seeing these books at the local library and being intrigued by the covers because they looked so cool, but could tell they were too grown up for me. A few years later my dad's girlfriend noticed what books I was into and also suggested it but I forgot to look into it. Only twenty years later have I started and I wished I had these characters around me as a teenager! Fingers crossed the show delivers, keep up the good work, April from Australia :)

I am on book 3, and it is pretty exciting to be part of this world. But it will take years I guess for me to finish it. I have read first three books in 5 months. But even if I didn't finish it is very joyful to try to understand the WoT Lore.

I recently decided to watch some of your old WOT videos because of the hype on the TV show. (I've read the books before) This video was hypnotic, couldn't look away! There was a few pieces in there that I hadn't known before, so sweet!

Aly Sellin you should read them. They’re good enough, but they’re definitely not better than Lord of the Rings. And a comparison to Martin will show these two authors at opposite ends in the fantasy genre, even though they had a mutual respect for each other.

I don’t think the series will be any good at all. The last thing I read from the showrunner showed me they had no idea what the series is about.

I read the first 8 WOT this summer, had to buy 9, 12,13 &14 . While I was waiting for them to come in I read the Lord of the Rings. Lord of the rings was very good. WOT is much better though in my opinion. Also loved the Game of Thrones series, which he'd hurry up and finish it.

Ive been subscribed for the longest time. I subscribed when you had like 200 subs and I used to study Literature and had to read 4 books a week for college and the fantasy loving nerd inside of me had to wait to get back to his tbr and MAN do i want to read the wheel of time!!! Im halfway through the name of the wind, but im so ashamed that you got me interested in ‘twot’ so long ago and i still havent started it! Definitely the next on the list, now that i can read whatever i want!

Make the effort to read WoT u won't be disappointed. The world created is genuinely more in depth than ASoIAF . The middle books can be a bit hard going, but honestly keep going, the last 3 books are amazing 😀, can't recommend enough. I must've read the full series at least 5 times and I still discover hidden gems!!

This was truly the history of the latest rotation of the Wheel. Well done! I was expecting some more cultural stuff that are relevant in the Two Rivers, but that is more current history than overarching history. The false Dragons were not mentioned and they would really drive home the point of male channelers being bad news. Could also be good to mention that under Hawkwing's rule the majority of the world was seriously doubting the intentions of the White Tower while acknowledging their use in battle against the shadow and male channelers. 2 small things I suspect would improve the ending and giving a very easy start for new readers. They'll have the prologue with the creation of Dragonmount and then the gossip from Padan Fain, the travelling peddler, would be more impactful. Was a bit surprised that Ba'alzamon was never mentioned and a few spoilers snuck in. With the way you phrased the story Ba'alzamon was able to be ignored.

I would like to see a video of your note taking process in these larger series. I am starting the wheel of time, and very quickly realized that by the time I get to the end I may have forgot important details from the beginning. A good note taking video would benefit me and probably many other readers that are a little intimidated by these longer stories. Love your content!

Did you keep reading it cause I think 2 and 3 are well written books and everything you see in the first books expands in the following books such as magic system, policy, how some groups inAes Sedai approach the same reality in different perspectives. That is what amazed me about the book 2.
