Thank you so much Danny. For 30 + years i have been coming over the top on my downswing mainly due to my bringing the club-head inside too soon during my backswing. Hey Danny! I golfed some when I was younger, but never really learned what to do. I am now retired and have some time, so I decided to give golf a second go. I picked up some clubs and started in earnest to get better about 3 weeks ago. While I am 60, I am still in very good shape. KZbin has been a mixed bag of advice for me as there are so many different videos on "tricks to hit it flush".. So many people offering different advice on how to hit the ball well.. Lucky for me, I found your videos and find them to be top notch. I only watch yours now - I love how you focus on the fundamentals and express yourself so clearly. You're a great teacher, and While I am still duffing my way, I am hitting 260+ yard drives right down the middle and am getting better with my irons.. Then I'll focus on the short game and putting.. Your videos have truly been a great help to me and I very much look forward to seeing all of them - in due time.

Thank you so much for this video. I've been working the last 4 years on swallowing my plane and attacking from the inside. I go through bouts of feeling like I HAVE to come over the top. I realized I wasn't getting enough body rotation on my backswing to create the space needed to really lower my hands and come at the ball from the inside. This is THE best explanation on KZbin. You may want to add "creating space in the golf swing" to the description so people dealing with being blocked out can find it. Thank you!

I tried this on a couple of iron shots today, and hit it 10-15 yards past my normal yardage. I also drove it over a bunker that I normally don’t carry. This absolutely works for extra power, with no extra effort. I’m bad to restrict my turn by not right side extending enough, and not allowing the left obliques to crunch. You demonstrated the flaw that people do perfectly. I’ve saw it on the course EVERYWHERE. Shot even par(72) today. Love your content, Danny.

Thanks Danny! The last couple months I’ve been struggling with drawing my approach shots too much- about 10 yards. That’s a tough angle to come in from so I’ve been trying to straighten it out a bit. I’ve watched a lot of videos and tried several things (more open stance, more out to in swing, faster hips), but still struggled. Yesterday it dawned on me to re-watch your videos on takeaway. This immediately fixed my problem as I realized I was taking my backswing a little behind me and rotating a bit more than pivoting. I was able to straighten it right out as well as practice a small fade or still hit a strong draw when I may want to. Your instructional videos are excellent and I really appreciate you!

Hi Danny. Really love your channel. As a left handed golfer, I know I am in the minority, which means trying to find a good left handed golf channel is impossible. It is really, really helpful when you are talking about stats or breaking down the golf swing etc, when you refer to the front/lead (trail/rear) foot or hand, and slice/fade or hook/draw side instead of left right. If the generic terms of left/right are mentioned, left handers have to reverse what you have said, to apply to being left handed, which sometimes gets muddled. I know its a small thing, but I reckon it would help out a large number of left handed golfers immensely. Oh, did I mention, I really love your channel. Thanks from NZ

I went for years with a wide backswing. Your catapult concept changed that for me. This vid reinforces that idea. With my wide backswing I could never clear my hips either. That caused a lot of pain getting through. Extension and flexion concept is hard to visualize but really allows freedom through the ball impact area. Thanks again, Danny.

I have watched hours of golf instruction videos on how to rotate and swing through the ball. All seemed very weird and my body just didn't want to do what I was trying to do from the videos. I watched 2 of your videos, this one and one on rotation, opened my eyes to what I was doing wrong. You made it so simple to understand what I need to be doing. The take away drill and feeling the weight in my feet, I now realize I was twisting/turning my upper body and arms not extending like you say in the backswing. I went to the backyard and did the drill and it just feels so natural that I feel like I can get more club speed now and not ending with my weight on my back foot, causing me to top the ball or slicing it. It's like you say, rotate properly and arms and club just fall into place where they should be. Now to just get to the range and course to try it out.

I had the worst problem with bringing the club too far inside for a long time. I finally fixed it by trying to swing a shovel without hitting the ground... if you have any tendancy to cheat the backwing by using your hands and arms and leave the shovel too low as you turn, you will hit the ground. Everytime! I learned a lot from this video!
@frankkovalak19673 жыл бұрын
Danny, Love your backswing take away tip. It has helped be to take the club straight back with a coordinated arm/body move and turn my front shoulder down during the backswing rather than around, and especially put pressure on my right heel and front toe prior to swinging forward. This has helped me from moving my front foot which resulted in inconsistent shots. You are my number one golf instructor. Stay safe and healthy.

Massive 'ah-ha!' moment from this video. Had a great lesson this week from a chap I think you know, Milo King, who identified a slight tendancy to get 'inside' which was making the swing shallow and contributing to a fat shot. Getting the club back less inside was causing me to feel like I was sliding right, but focusing on that extension of the right side made me realise I wasn't, I was just getting out of my own way and preventing that flatter inside move. Drilling this all weekend!

This is one of the best explanations of the golf swing I've ever seen. Went to a lot of pros because I'd come off the ball and instead of explaining about flexion or extension they just say try to feel like your staying over it and if that's all the feedback you just become handsy and armsy because it's not a solution to the problem it's focusing on a symptom of not taking the club away properly.

Hi,Danny, Really great video and explains the backswing beautifully. I had a dose of the shanks recently and went to see my local pro. He has sorted me out, thankfully, but when I had a few lessons a few years ago, I was told, at parallel to my feet line, to have the toe of the club pointing to the sky. This is where you have yours in this video. However, the local pro insists that I have to get the club face ‘looking at the ball’ longer and, at parallel to the ground, actually closed and still looking at the ball. A little confused now.

This single video changed my swing for the better. Wayyyy better! Completely understand now how the proper takeaway sets you up for crashing through that ball. Can’t thank you enough my man. Great job explaining what needs to happen to have a proper go at it!

I worked on this and hit the ball longer, straighter and with unbelievable power. My drives were 30m longer!!! This turned a light bulb on for me ... Danny you are a genius, you have the ability to explain how a golf swing should feel not just tell people what position to be in. Now I have something to work on which I know is correct and works. Thank you..!!

Hi Danny, over the last couple of years due to various injuries and illness my swing had deserted me and I had lost distance and control with a result that my handicap has drifted out a long way. Using this tip I have been swinging a club in my garden and already can feel a semblance of my old swing coming back, I have yet to take it to the driving range or the course but the swing feels more natural and powerful. Many thanks for this and the other tips you post

Started with Danny two years ago watching. 26+ down to a 19. No backswing discipline, no forswing success. Watched and just played but then started actually doing the drills. The range is fun when you add 20 yards and lose 20 percent variance off target. Still a long way to go but I keep winning $$$s with the calm that comes from building a repeatable shot with confidence. When I fail, I just go back to view and just try again. Having fun and getting better at almost 60. Thanks, Danny.

Danny, This take away fault fix drill. (H drill) and best rotation drill for your backswing and forward swing are your two best drills that I practice a lot during the winter months to get ready for the spring golf season. You are my number one golf instructor. Thank you!

I often get too round. Your inflection explanation reminded me of a cue I forgot. Bring the lead shoulder under the chin and not the nose! Fell the Ferris wheel not the carousel. That works because of the inflection motion. You are brilliant!

Never heard this type of discussion about the takeaway! Very intricate but very easy and well explained. This is my Achilles heel always horrible take away. Am in hotels for next week and half will be training with this setup and drills. Can't wait to see results. Thank you for something so intricate and well explained!!

Brilliant Danny. Very clear. I now look like a madman. Staring at my iPad and moving my body all around in the lounge trying not to hit anything with my club. Can’t wait to get on driving range tomorrow. Great stuff Danny.

I'm a subscriber and I really didn't think too much off this split your hands/then right hand drill...until I decided to try it, it's fantastic! I do suffer from quite a "layed off" club at the top of my swing and instantly this felt so different but also so right, even comfortable! I know from experience it'll take quite a while to ingrain the movement but I will work hard to do so. Thanks again for all your dedication to the channel; you're definitely the most agreeable, pleasant and likeable golf instructor on KZbin !
