People always talk about the Khan’s “strange things” roast, but *this* has my favorite Jaghatai burn. How he completely dismantles Mortarion and his hypocrisy.

@@allunt8170 the khan in the early days of the heresy was the one no one knew would side with whom, and his first action after getting calls from both sides was 'hang on, hold up. I need time to assess this and figure out what the fuck you're all doing.' Common sense really is a primarch power

"They played you well. You have done their work for them, and soon you will be dragged into it yourself, just as warp-sick as they are." After reading "The Buried Dagger", I realized that this was some mad foreshadowing from the Khan.

A key difference between Mortarion and Dorn is that the former is rigid and the latter is sturdy. Both are stubborn, but Mortarion never learned how to be adaptable and he paid for it.
@btg77606 ай бұрын
He is actually more adaptable than you think
@krel33586 ай бұрын
I think the difference is that Mortarion is consumed by bitterness due to his upbringing on a toxic world and then never getting catharsis by the Emperor taking the kill. Fundamentally Mortarion's entire psychology is shaped by living under the thumb of a tyrant who treats him like a tool to be used. Essentially the great crusade and entire galaxy became a giant Barbarus to him mentally while Horus offered him a path towards "liberation". Fundamentally the difference between them all is that Mortarion is envious of some of his brothers who are free in mind compared to him. Again to reiterate Mortarian is a slave who doesnt understand how to be free because hes a slave to his bitterness which is expressed in his legion's form of metaphysical corruption and his own hypocrisy in engaging in psychic powers and witchcraft. Could have been solved if the Emperor literally took one day to do some psychotherapy with him or give him some form of agency of catharsis. I think at one level Mortarian is just Angron without the butchers nails but his mental slavery and torment is born out of losing his chance to become his own man, in his eyes that event was defeating his tyrant alien father with his own hands and with the Emperor doing it for him, forever stunted his growth and left him to stew in a vicious circle of brooding negativity. I think what it comes down to is all the traitor primarchs essentially have some past unresolved trauma that they never dealt with and in my cases the Emperor made it worse with his callous detachment from humanity and hoping his sons would just be happy to fulfill their roles.

@@krel3358 That's the crux of it though. The Primarchs were supposed to fulfil their role. That was the entire point of their creation. The human aspects of the Primarchs, their emotions, ideals, etc overruled in every way against their intelligence and Emperor given gifts. He didn't plan for those human attributes to rule the Primarchs the way they did.

@@WynterLegend I've never actually heard someone say Horus was their favourite primarch. Ever. I've seen people simp for Lorgar, or even Angron, but out of the hundreds of odd unpopular legion enjoyers, I've never found someone with the same level of larp-fuelled devotion towards the Sons of Horus and Horus himself than any other legion. Which is a shame, honestly. I love the Sons of Horus, even after the betrayal. They have a weird aura about them post-istvaan that they're the personal harbingers of THE Warmaster, the Chosen of the Four, the Arch-Traitor, that no other legion (for me) matches. They're like the Iron Warriors in that they've mostly retained their wits about them, but unlike the Iron Warriors haven't completely shunned the gifts of the four either. They really were a force to be reckoned with. Their end is also great.
