I’m not sure of the psychology behind it. But when I was in school I was a terrible student. Absolutely abysmal. So bad I was put in the special needs classes because I was so damn lazy. Well one year I decided I was tired of being treated like special needs and tired of being thought of as stupid. So I made it my goal to make honor roll that year. I succeeded rather easily actually. But something I took from that was, I lied to my brain all the time. Until I wasn’t lying anymore. Before that year of studying. I spent a year obsessing over fitness and got into the best shape of my life. I fell in love with the pain and ache from working out. The next year when I started my educational obsession. I would catch myself saying “agh I hate home work” or “I hate studying for soo longgg” I started to correct this behavior because I new smart people, like really smart students, all they did was study. And even if it sucked, they loved it. So now “I love studying” “I love how uncomfortable it is to sit here for hours” “I don’t even have a hard time focusing on the pages” and eventually, I did love spending all day every day with my head in a textbook. (Before, I never opened a text book for any kind of work) I consciously told myself I loved everything that my subconscious told me was difficult. Until my subconscious would ask why we weren’t doing that thing we liked. And I made honor roll. With my highest grade at 115% in chem (extra credit) and 96% in physics. To be fair I was mainly doing subjects I enjoyed, but that was another big reason why I was able to stop being lazy. I realized my laziness was preventing me from doing and learning about things I actually enjoyed.

My Understanding from this Video: - Many people struggle to focus on their big goals due to distractions and external influences. - Parents and society often dictate what people should care about and pursue, which may not align with personal goals. - Overcoming distractions and achieving goals requires self-discipline, which comes from clarity and knowing what you want. - Self-discipline involves saying no to distractions and maintaining a clear vision for the future. - To achieve self-discipline, one must remove distractions, view life as a game with challenges and goals, and reinvent oneself by changing behavior and identity. - Confidence comes from pushing beyond limits, failing, and learning from those failures. - Starting a business, writing in public, and making new friends are key steps to building self-confidence and achieving goals. - Publishing work and exposing oneself to criticism and feedback is crucial for improvement and building confidence. - Confidence is a journey of continuous improvement and self-discovery, requiring dedication and a willingness to face challenges.

You all should do the same. We come with nothing into this world and will leave it same way. Make your life count and BE HAPPY. Ask yourself what do I really WANT? I felt confident in writing because I wrote a lot and enjoyed writing but never treated writing as a valuable tool in my business. Writing was just an enjoyable mental exercise for me. Since I didn't guide my writing in a productive way, I stopped writing because it was taking too much energy. But now it is time to take it out and use it in my business. But this time, I think I can guide myself to use writing in a more productive way. Thank you Dan for this fresh look on writing. I also realized it will be extremely productive if I write before I create a youtube video. Now I feel grateful that I did write so much in the past. All that writing wasn't in vain. But this time, I am going to write to be profitable! I can't wait to write again!

Contrary to the notion that the mind craves order, it is, in fact, inherently chaotic. The mind operates by diverging into multiple directions, enticing distractions, and perpetually scanning the environment for threats and pleasures. Attempting to sit still without thought proves difficult, regardless of the meditation technique employed. Nevertheless, achieving success in any domain necessitates understanding one’s mind and imposing a degree of order upon it. This task becomes particularly challenging in our modern age, where myriad distractions constantly vie for our attention.

Our Will seeks Order, but the rest of the brain is causing erratic disorder and affects the mind. Developing a stronger Will will help us assert Order over Entropy. I believe the region of the brain that neuroscientists say is the seat of Willpower and potentially even the will to live is called the Anterior Mid-cingulate Cortex, if I recall. It can be grown larger and developed, but most people don't know how to develop it and do things that shrink it. Addictions weaken it. Doing things we don't want to do grow it, which makes it easier to do what we don't want to do and develops our Willpower. The opposite, falling into bed habits and addiction, shrinks it, which obviously makes it harder to crawl out of and weakens the Willpower.

Koe community - I’d appreciate your thoughts… I’m a 10 year professional artist (murals, sculptures, canvases) BUT I’m now seeing my limitations with leverage that Dan talks about. So, I’m considering a course correction. I have been mostly just surviving, biz wise. I have a decent following on IG but worry that talking about a mid-life change would not resonate with my fans, damage my current brand, or potentially alienate the community I’ve built up. What I’m considering is sharing my course correct, mid-life, father of 2, climbing out of a debt hole. What I’m learning, doing, goals, tactics. Building and sharing in real time. What should I do?
