Great point about the positioning of a college course vs. a creator's online course. The value proposition of college has been established by decades of marketing and social pressure. Most of the courses I took that weren't technical were not worth $100--and the burden of learning is almost entirely on the student.

I've owned my own business for 24 years. I have another channel that I started 7 years ago where I talk entrepreneurship but let it go because no one was interested in listening to me (after years, barely 1,000 subs) I even offered coaching and got no takers. The formulas you talk about don't always work. For some, they get lucky and others don't. I am proof that one size does not fit all. For now, I stick to my business. No one wants my knowledge, which is vast and deep.
@tabithaaa6176 Жыл бұрын

@mexicounexplained Жыл бұрын
@@tabithaaa6176 I might also extend this to my "Mexico Unexplained" channel. I have posted regularly for 7 and a half years and have 351 shows up. I engage with my audience as evidenced in the comments sections of my shows. I spend about 8 hours a week on my channel. I have 2 books and a coloring book and a line of t-shirts in connection with Mexico Unexplained. After all this time and work I have 18,000 subs, 350 Twitter followers and I sell about a dozen books a month (and 1 t-shirt a month). My ad revenue from KZbin has been $85 a month for years now. Many online gurus (who sell courses) and who always use consistency as part of their formulas can't believe that my example exists. Why? Because someone in my position would have given up 5 years ago. I kept going out of love of what I do. The ones with the 300k subscribers are the ones who got lucky after a few years and just kept going. The only reason why there are very few examples like me is because there are very few people who just don't give up despite having little to no results. No amount of "coaching" will make my numbers better, either.

@@mycustompaintedlife502 I agree. Challenge is to figure out what kind of digital product you can release to the world based on your skills, which isn't already available for free on KZbin. Sometimes it feels like what's more important is to somehow create a base following (even if you just vlog), and your most loyal followers will buy anything you put out. Meaning, it's more about how to attract followers with some kind of content rather than the quality or uniqueness of your digital product. Which means, it's all about being in front of a camera and develop a relationship with your audience. I guess you can't avoid that even if such exposure isn't for you...

The purpose of any education systems, I'm comparing the ones I know, Switzerland Argentina but think it is general/global, is to give us tools to use to any other systems we want or need for our professional path. It's like we learn the basis of mathematics to later go deeper if it is something we want to pursue. Schools cannot teach all the subjects but what they can teach is the methodology.

90% is probably an overestimate for a number of reasons, but it will radically increase. I think the general prediction is correct. NDA requirements, background checks needed for authorization in sensitive/confidential/classified environments will continue to be a restriction (if not grow), etc. However, I disagree with the implication that colleges aren't going to be useful. They WILL be more restricted as to how / when they will be useful. Want to be an astrophysicist? College. Want to be a copywriter? Some college courses will help. But college just to get the degree? That's fading (and needs to). It is logical to re-evaluate the training/education paradigm after major market shifts. And colleges need to evolve (read "specialize"). We also need them to invest in skilled trades training. There's a bunch of low-hanging fruit in just courses for certain complex skilled trades skills (like electrical system design for example). Engineers will always be needed, but electricians need that skill too. The world is changing, and knowing how to change with it is a major challenge
