10 years old! TEN!! How does a 10 year old sing with that much feeling and emotion, and give grown men (and women) chills, and pull tears from our eyes. When I listen to this song, in my mind it's being sung by someone 2.5 to 3 times her age that has experienced more than she should have, and expressing all that pain in the song, not a 10 year old. I love everything this young lady does, and has done.

We all know Angelina is one of the most talented, if not the most talented of our time, but what thrills me the most is the fact that she has a mom who looks out for her, not letting her daughter come into contact with words, facts or people inappropriate for her young age. this song was offered to several singers, Angelina gave it a shot, but some people interpret the lyrics to be about suicide so she/her family withdrew from the project. I think it was on her channel a short while as well before they pulled it down. But the recording got leaked. It seems to be fine though that its out there, i havent seen any reactor having it blocked.

I'm still holding out for you song written by Brandon Lowry, "also goes by Baby Fuzz," Ronny Janssen and Frida Amundsen went to 10-year-old Angelina with it and Angelina made this audio demo cut but rumor is Angelina's mother didn't like the ending lyrics referencing suicide and the demo cut was not released. Later the demo was pirated from Angelina's pictures was added and put online at the same time the song was released by Baby Fuzz causing some confusion but rumor has it that all parties agreed to leave Angelina's pirated cut on U-tube. Hey Danny thought you might like this one.... Imo this is the worldwide #1 hit that never was.... and thankfully so as it would've taken her teen years from her from age 10... I think this played some part in why it wasn't released and also some lyrics that were deemed not appropriate.... in any case this has to be the most phenomenal performance by any 10yo singer ever.... This is one that Angelina fans put right at the top of the list. We are amazed to hear Angelina’s ability to choose a voice that complements perfectly the sadness and desperation of the lyrics, but we also see something that is truly unique about Angelina. That’s her ability, even as a child, to lead us adults so authentically through the dark, melancholic journey of these lyrics. This is one of her best. I understand the decision about not performing this again, but I think any singer who covers this song by Baby Fuzz will have Angelina’s version to consider. This is one of her songs where I think ten year old Angelina has killed it for anyone else.

Also my favorite song from Angelina. In my opinion, this is the prove of the sheer genius of this child prodigy, taking in count that this is not a cover, it's a demo. Not shure about this, but i read somewhere she did 3 different versions of the song. It's a shame that we will never get to know the other versions. there are so many theories why the song was never released or acknowledged by Angelina. We fans, or at least I, have given up on figuring out the reason(s). We just sit back and enjoy what it is, an extra performance by a 10 years old. The original author, Baby Fuz, recorded his own version a bit later, so I have always cracked joke that he covered his own material. His version is so so; Angelina's special voice and interpretation and perhaps, her being a female, give her performance that emotion edge that Baby Fuz's version lacks. My wish is Angelina will license this song and put her cover, as is, into her first album with the Republic. As is. It is so good already. It's her song now.

There may still be questions, but this is the most detailed explanation, backed up by several people, as to the circumstances surrounding this song. Andy Schnell posted: Personally I have given up trying to understand the story why this incredible performance was never officially released. There were a ton of comments on Jordan's last Angelina reaction concerning this song. I am reposting a couple comments which supposedly from people directly involved INCLUDING A COMMENT FROM BABYFUZZ. Devon replied on Schnell Jordan’s video on April 5, 2021.The following was posted by William Johnson on the subject: "The thing about the lyrics being a problem with her family is just a rumor, and not why she didn't release it. And while she made several versions of this song, this one was recorded in 2017, just before she turned 11. Kent Nielsen, a friend of the writers and who knows Angelina's family, gives this information about this song, and also about "Shield": Your understanding of “Shield” seems to be everyone’s understanding. But like the John Legend rumor, this is a general misconception. I actually spoke with Ronny Janssen, one of the producers of “Shield” and he told me that the super talented, award-winning producer/songwriter Aksel Carlson wrote the song. Angelina had one line prior to the song being written “Forgive me for all that I am” and Aksel wrote the song from that. Ronny, Aksel and Frida also made the music (lyrics by Baby Fuzz) regarding “I’m still holding out for you”. I am aware of the stories and rumors surrounding this song too. However, I was told by Ronny (again) that her family actually wanted her to sing/release this song, but Ronny and Aksel spoke against it. Also, it was more of a stylistic issue, the song didn’t really fit well with Angelina. They did three recordings of this song, two in December of 2016 and the one that was leaked was recorded on January 3rd 2017. Regarding the lyrics, they already changed some for Angelina’s demo version... they could just as easily have changed the ending part too, if it was an issue. The reason it was taken down was because Angelina’s family had not been given permission to make the demo public, so when it was leaked, they had it removed due to risks of copyright infringements. But, Brandon (Baby Fuzz) really liked Angelina’s version, so he allowed it to stay on KZbin. All this information comes directly from everyone involved. I also spoke with Brandon Lowry (Baby Fuzz) about this song and he doesn’t seem to understand why there is any controversy surrounding the song. Angelina did the demo in 2017 and didn’t release it due to the song not being the right stylistic choice (which also could explain why she did not sing it again) Ronny and Aksel told Brandon that they did the demo with Angelina, but he wanted to record and release the song himself. There are many theories as to why it was "LEAKED", but it seems the original artist, Baby Fuzz, had only released a demo and it was never officially released. You can read his explanation below (from the video). Baby Fuzz 3 weeks ago Hey! I'm getting lots of messages about this tune so just thought I'd clear the air! So the song was written and produced by me and a few friends in Norway. It was pitched around possibly for another artist to record, and apparently Angelina cut this version around that time (when she was only 10 years old - impressive!). I never heard the demo, though, and we were never approached about her releasing it as far as I know. The song sat for a few years, and then I just decided to put it out with my original demo vocals on. I came across this version after it was out already, and I think it's super cool. I don't think there were any hard feelings or anything, was just a demo that didn't end up getting released on her end. Hope that helps clarify! Andy Schnell posted: Sarlina A replied to Devon, Devon (and William Johnsen), just one thing to clear up here. Kent Nielsen does not know Angelina's family, all his findings and searching about this song comes from Ronny Janssen, as I have mentioned in posts before. A couple of things to add, the shopping of this tune, was given to Angelina from the 3 Norwegians, not from Brandon Lowry himself, who claims he didn't even hear the demo before it was out on KZbin. One more interesting thing is that Ronny says that the producers and writers of this demo (Ronny, Aksel and Frida), were never contacted about the "suicide" lyrics. That seemed to be no issue for them, the Angelina team seemed to be happy about the outcome of the demo. Ronny also says that these lyrics are not really about suicide, but a metaphorical expression. But I have from another close source that it was indeed discussed within the family. Anyway, it all seems to me to boil down to an issue of rights. The Norwegian trio went on to make Shield for Angelina the same year this was produced, 2017. To clear up the time frame also, this demo was made 3rd Jan 2017. Avicii did his suicide in April 2018, and Brandon Lowry`s original was released Nov. 30th 2018, almost 2 years after this demo. Lastly, I will say that the words about Janssen and Carlson not finding the song a good fit for Angelina, personally I find that hard to understand, and to believe. "Why was Ronny and Askel against the release, that seems to be the heart of the mess." Yes, exactly. And it might suggest that they were already heading down a trail that could lead to a conflict of rights. It might explain why they started Angelina's next project, Shield, straight away.

"Crazy good"! Danny, I completely understand your reaction, since that may be the best audio recording of Angelina's cover of Baby FuzZ 's song who had laudative words for Angelina's rendition. Her vocal effects are extraordinary, her diction is superb and the melody itself is quite imposing. I love especially her last chorus, at 4.33, where she shines and distributes chills for whoever likes artistic belting. The recording has been made in London, if my memory faculties serve me well. That quality is equal to the recording made for Angelina's Song For A, in which Angelina's voice is pure like a warm summer breeze. I've been watching this young woman's progression after seeing a video of her Got Talent audition singing Bohemian Rhapsody and I truly believe she is the next great artist of this generation. She's a pure soul with others' well being at heart. She decides how her music is going to be portrayed and performed without huge producers telling her how to do it. She has a the voice and control of a seasoned professional and puts her emotions behind all she does. This is a very rare thing these days. I'm a metalhead at heart but I love me some blues as well and I appreciate good music from many other genres. Angelina transcends them with pure talent and soul

This is an original written by Baby Fuz, she did a demo which you just heard. It got released and created the problem you spoke about. No one except Angelina and Baby Fuz, know the true story although he released a cover of the song several months later but competing with Angelina's version was not the smartest move.

Songwriters - receiving critical dismissal of their own work while gaining covers - discover that cover-money is a pretty great revenue source. Covers can be view like seeds to a farmer - the more covers, the more income, forever and ever. One thing McCartney half-jokes about - "No one's recording YESTERDAY. I have to live off of the first 1000." Yeah. Tuff life, eh? But seriously - while songwriters want to protect 'their babies' from being abused by other artists, the option can be "Make 'em pay extra."

The suicide lyrics doesn't hold water as Gloomy Sunday is a known banned song that created such emotional response that people took thier lives. I think it was an old Hungarian song at first.

I’m not offering any judgment on other songs or the reasons that this wasn’t released, but I don’t think there’s any doubt about the reference to suicide. “ …I go down to the river , put my head under water…. Gloomy Sunday is different. Angelina's performance at the age of seven was a "spectacle" more than anything else. She sang it like Billie Holiday, which, is mind blowing in itself. Angelina's famous in some circles by the time she's ten and "I'm Still Holding Out For You" simply came at the wrong time. She threw away a number one hit. Or maybe Angelina put you in a crazy, emotional mood…. It is hauntingly beautiful, I couldn’t agree more that this sound is perfect for her. Whether it had to do with the whole suicidal thing or not, the decision was to nix it. Some of the amazing photos here and lurking around show her unusual beauty from such a young age. As she has “grown into” her large feet (for a 10 year old child but not a 6 foot woman), she has also grown into her statuesque beauty. Most of all, however, is that she has grown into her artistic and vocal beauty. Thanks Danny, appreciate you as always.

The decision was made not to sing this song ever again, after Angelina found out it was talking about suicide. What is so sad to me about this is, that this is (to me) her best vocal performance to date. I love her vocal choices. All those kids going on the talent shows, and not a one of them could even come close to singing this song with this interpretation. This track really shows how far advanced she is over kids her age singing on the talent shows. She is one of a kind. Absolutely stunning performance. She is just in class all by herself. Amazing

Baby Fuzz is a sometimes expat American songwriter/singer who wrote this in Norway. He has written for a number of major performers (Madona, etc) and put this one out but nobody took it. Angelina got a hold of it sometime and recorded it. The story I've heard is that the song ends with a suggestion of suicide and so she suppressed. I suspect the suicide theory is right. Baby Fuzz says: "It’s just a cyclical behavior of rejecting others in an attempt to affirm an old flame that will never work. It’s actually the whole idea of the song… I’m just delusionally holding out in some monk-like vow of abstinence and loyalty that is incredibly self-destructive." Don't forget to do her tribute to her suicide friend Avicii, Wake Me Up (did you know him?). Might be some chills there for you.
