@jorgehdz20306 жыл бұрын

Great video, Dan. I’m glad you mentioned the culture of Northern Mexico. Not only do cowboy hats come from Northern Mexico, but the entire cowboy lifestyle comes from there. The word “cowboy” comes from the Spanish word “vaquero.” Also, a few of the most popular dishes in the US that are often seen or claimed as “Tex-Mex” are actually from Northern Mexico, including: burritos (with beans, meat, rice), fajitas, chimichangas, taquitos (flautas), and nachos. They all came from the Northern states. Although, most of those dishes aren’t as popular or well-know throughout the rest of Mexico.

It's just that San Pedro is a bit more industrialized and it's more about malls and hotels and stuff like that. KZbin recommendations keep getting better... I’m from Monterrey, I’ve been in all the places you’ve showed, that’s the prettiest part of the city actually; I’m really glad that you liked it. Oh and it’s kind of common to see limousines in the city, most of them are rented because of the quinceañera party girls have and even if the family doesn’t have lots of money, they save money literally for years to be able to rent a limousine the day of the party. The richest part of Monterrey...and all Mexico is San Pedro, if you were there then I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Thx for talking about Mty!!

Yay! You are visiting my hometown. It’s funny what you mentioned in the end, about people thinking that the grass is alway greener on the other side. Im from there but I preferred Guadalajara, in fact use to travel to Guadalajara a couple of times per year just for concerts, a great excuse hehe. Always wanted to leave my city to move there, but at the end I moved to Mexico City and fell in love with that city that now I considered more like my home. Even though I don’t live there, I currently live in Ireland xD but if I do come back to Mexico for sure will be to Mexico City :) and of course Monterrey is always in my hearth, my whole family Is there and some dishes that I love from Mty they don’t have them in Mexico City so I always have to come back there. Watching this kind of videos makes me feel so nostalgic and makes me wish to be there to enjoy the warm sun xD Try some Tostadas tipo Siberia for me, it’s one of the dishes I missed the most when I moved from Mty to Mexico City 😋 and haven’t tried in years. Saludos! 🙋🏻♀️

The difference between Monterrey (metropolitan area) and the rest of the cities of Mexico is: In the videos near Monterrey, there are always envious comments saying that their city (CDMX, Guadalajara, Mérida etc) is better than Monterrey, they always try to discredit the city of Monterrey. Greetings to all the other states that I know the most and almost all have something good to contribute to our country.

I was born and raised in the south of México, but went to Monterrey for my bachelor's degree, right now im living in there, I can confirm that almost everything you said it's true, i always thought the food in México is better the more south you are, and Monterrey is a really americanized city, I mean I love that city but I wish there was better food and it was not that expensive as it usually is... In this video you can see Monterrey´s downtown mostly, there's still a lot more of places to show, it has a lot of diversity in that aspect. Nice video man.

Yeah, Monterrey is lacking in colonial arquitecture, this is because even though it is almost 500 years old, it was just an small town of a couple thousand during most of that time, too poor to build itself like the big cities of the south, it wasn't until the turn of the 20th century that it started growing thanks to its nascent industry, so most of the city is indeed new relative to Guadalajara, Puebla and CDMX. I think that's why the person from mty that you talked too preferred Guadalajara, same with other "travel youtubers from developed nations I've seen, they search for that colonial and traditional experience and feel meh about Monterrey so I'm pleasantly surprised that you liked it here.

¡Bienvenido a Monterrey Dan! In the comments there are some south Mexicans talking badly about Monterrey. They're people with an inferiority complex. The people of northern Mexico aren't as "warm and friendly" as the people of the south, we're more direct and we speak louder and sometimes south Mexicans take that as aggression or arrogance. But in reality everyone here is welcome.

If you take a quick look in the comments related to places or cities in Mexico. You'll always find a dumbass idiot from Monterrey talking shit and bragging about their buildings, economy, bla, bla, bla that's why you get so much hate. Of course not everyone is like that but there're more idiots from Monterrey talking shit about other states than other states' people talking shit about Monterrey.

06:24 The reason why the Governor's palace was very protected was because of some issues surrounding the raise in prices of the public transport (which by the way, we pay the one of the most expensive and inefficient services of transport in the entire country). A group of citizens called Únete Pueblo, who fight for better conditions in this same regard, were against this decision since it was first announced in september 2018 and, as an act of protest, began developing a series of activities like public manifestations, a collection of signatures, and even staying inside the Governor´s palace. To showcase their authority, they were taken by the police forces one Sunday morning, obviously as an act of retaliation by the government, and since then, the police sieged the Governor's palace (instead of doing their job and preventing crimes). Fortunately, the members were able to pay the bail that same day and continued with their demands. I'm from Monterrey and had the chance to live this story until, for some reason, both the government and the transport agency decided not to proceed with the raise. However, we still have the same problems that were before all of this happened. I took some photographs and did some videos about this fight within my channel and other called Voces de la Ciudad, a documentary project about the state of Nuevo Leon.
