I’ll never understand dark romance, people say they like reading it for the “complexity” of the characters but like…they aren’t complex…it’s just abuse babes, wake up!! But anyway, subscribed really enjoyed this video ❤

I agree. Like when i was first learning about dark romance, I thought id at least see some hannibal esqe relationships where its more of a push and pull but no. Its just abuse

Love this video and your breakdown of dark romanticism! I'm a fan of dark romaticism, but not dark romance, so it was fascinating to hear your take on what dark romance is trying to do like dark romanticism (poorly) and how the writing seems to suffer in quality with the potential impetus of the authors to write the works in the first place!

VERY mainstream, literally walk into a barnes & nobles and you WILL find a group of pre-teens crowded around these dark romance shelves (probably with no guardian to dissuade them from reading them…) low key…. We should start id’ing to buy these books 🤷🏻♀️ also, I see the poppy war trilogy on your shelves, have u read the series? If so, how’d u like it?? Bc it left ME so emotional

I can’t believe she had the audacity to call it misogyny as an excuse for her to write and romanticize misogyny and violence against women! BFFR! 🙄

The comparison with horror they made in the article you read is so ridiculous. Horror is supposed to be horrifying not romantic

You said it not me💅

the author saying romance and dark romance being frowned upon due to misogyny is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, no offence to her
@katiesnudden8299 ай бұрын
She is correct in some aspects. A lot of the hate romance in general gets is misogynistic. THAT being said, nuanced and concerned critisim that addresses the negative parts of the genre is not misogyny. Its like when I originslly hated Twilight as a teen it was because "its stupid and only desprate girls read it". That was definitely internalized misogyny. However as an adult, i uate the book for its excuses for abusive relationships, purity culture bs, and random stabs at womens femininity when they cant have children
