I know you were making a joke, but in case you’re curious the Lore for ya is because it’s a painted world that is basically a purgatory made to seal away people/magic basically the dark arts ect that were against the gods. Hence they aren’t worried about the painting itself being stolen since it’s just a gateway.

I laughed my ass off when he said that...Most people I watch play DS1 miss that bonfire though...I think they hid that one a bit too well considering the area it's in...The only reason I found it was because the big guy threw a bomb at me and it knocked me off the edge right on top of the bonfire!

A friend of mine had the same situation as you have. He had beaten Elden Ring & Bloodborne as only Souls games. He sometimes shat on DS1 for being easy, especially because "Even you can speedrun it" (I did a little bit of speedrunning in DS1, best time was around 1:35) . So, he took on the challenge to beat DS1. And completely freaked out at Sen's Fortress. He was furious at the fact that so many mobs could 1 shot him, or put him in a stun and then the trap would kill him. I was loving every moment of it.

About the mimic chests. You don't need to hit them to figure out if its a mimic or not. They have some characteristics that gives them away. For example, if you watch closely, you will notice that they move their mouth slowly breathing. They also have a chain on different side.

My first time I had trouble finding the rafters(and had to look it up), died a few times to the archers, and summoned and used magic for the boss fight(they're both weak to fire if you spec for it). This guy also blasts through Sen's Funhouse.

Ring of favor and protection that you got from the killer is basically Erdtrees Favor but MEGA OP. It buffs your carry, stamina and HP by 20%. But if you ever remove it it breaks. Also On the balcony in Ornstein and Smoughs boss arena is lautrecs armor and some other things. I suppose I'll also point out that since you beat Sif the great wolf who was guarding her masters grave and joined the forest hunter covenent. That the npc there aren't hostile anymore and one can be talked to. He moves to the blightown swamp and becomes a merchant for some unique weapons. Killing him and his ninja friend also offers some cool loot.

Ornstein and Smough is peak video gaming. You can Use the four pillars around the stage to kite the big guy and protect yourself from his attacks, specially the dash It’s the first boss with a second phase in the game so you are mind blown by the build up and the sheer balls of the developers Not only that, you can choose the second phase you want, by killing one or the other first. (Different cutscenes). Their move sets complement each other The fight is so fast it makes a slow game like dark souls feel like devil may cry The music is phenomenal, epic and menacing. It’s the first time metals are used in a ost in the game. You get “big chest ahead” after the fight Best boss in video game history

To use the boss souls you need an appropriate weapon type upgraded to +10 and then you can modify it with Andre to become the boss weapon. Each boss soul needs a different weapon type to be upgraded, most can be with a few types though.

if you prefer dex weapons, both the ricard's rapier and the scythe (if you picked it up in the tar pits of sen's fortress) are powerful dex weapons. the scythe is a favorite of mine as it and the great scythe are both halberds that scale well with dex

Mimic chests have their chains out in a line, as opposed to regular chests which have their chains curled, I usually just give them a whack regardless.

I wish more Bosses were like O&S. The uneasy music of first S appearance, and godlike punishers after O jumps down from balcony. Throne room arena, fight OST, 2 ways to deal with encounter as you wish. That is best Fromsoft design, sadly not much used again. For me, they are peak of DS1 encounters, but there are still some more interesting ones on your journey, especially DLC ones.

I noticed that you cut the part after the first gargoyle where you need to climb your way up to the broken window. Since you come from Elden Ring you probably thought nothing of it, cause in that game you climb on roofs all the time, but in 2011 it was like "Where the hell do I go?
