Who wrote the book of Enoch? When I look at these things I see a Bible that's obviously skewed towards God being right in every circumstance even when it's pretty obvious something is going on. That something isn't... Kosher. I don't think we're getting both sides, you know? Also I don't actually believe in any of it but it's still fun to think about.
@boredfartless4221

+Kaari Mcbride LOL oh come on, you can either believe the story or you can't. Who wrote the story? Well if you believe in god, the fallen angels etc, are real, then obviously the descendants of the witnesses and survivors of the events, who would have been noah and co. wrote the story. Who also would be your ancestors. You can't sympathises with the fallen angels, even the pagan religions say that Azazel/Toth/Hermes deliberately introduced Weapons and War to people......what a fucking arsehole lol
@shinohidanzetsu

Boredand Faartless I think Noah would be an untrustworthy narrator. He'd just seen God literally murder the entire world save a few people and a handful of animals. I'd be praising so hard if I was that afraid. That's why I think the bible is a little one sided, obviously it's told from one perspective that strongly believes in one series of events. But looking at what God has done in the bible I think I have enough to say that he's done more evil then Satan or his Fallen. The difference between Pagan Gods and the Christian God is that Hermes doesn't claim to be all knowing or perfectly good. He's just a guy that does what he wants. God makes claims that are inconsistent with his behavior and his behavior is consistent with the Definition of evil. It's fair to say that Lucifer knew God pretty well, as did the angels that chose Lucifer over God. We hear that Lucifer was vain and prideful but, maybe this was justified. Maybe he would've been a better God.

God is not bound by our little minds. He can proclaim a universally applicable principle and still reserve the right to a few exceptions, if it fits in with His endgame, namely to preserve a people who would take good notes and not mix in their own opinions on the things they witness and hear God say (the Bible), and this was the nation that would see Jesus born among them and save the "whoso's", (whosoever will believe.)

I think it is the worst verse in the Bible, and shows how God himself, supposedly perfectly moral being, actually takes away a person's free will and force him to disobey him, and then use that as an excuse to kill the firstborn of all non Jews. Amazingly, Christians still have their way around it. They say Pharoah hardened his own heart before God did it as punishment. It's so amazing how twisted their minds are. It's like your son disobeying u, and then you force him to disobey you further, which you then use as the excuse for killing him for disobeying you. And yet you are considered moral while your son is depraved. Fucked up book.

+Mango Float Have you *honestly* never come across that particular "good one" before? (Actually, it's not *that* good... see below). It's one of the most common objections to the co-existence of an omniscient Higher Power *and* human Free Will. It's been around for not just years, but centuries. In fact, millennia (although normally argued a little more, er, sensibly, shall we say? :D ). Long before KZbin comments, anyway, that's for sure! ;)
@NellSmith
@NellSmith 8 жыл бұрын
+Crimson Vulpes _Short summary:_ Knowing *all possible futures* does not necessarily imply knowing *which one will occur*. An omniscient Higher Power (the nature of which is *NOT* limited solely to that of the Abrahamic "God") can know *everything we can or could possibly do*... but not necessarily which of those things we *WILL* do. Furthermore: who can say whether or not the Higher Power even *HAS* "a plan for us all"...? *MUCH* more in-depth explanation follows! :D 1. There are as many ways to (try to) understand the Higher Power as there are conscious minds capable of doing so. No one person’s view of the Higher Power will be precisely identical to any other’s, nor is any one person’s view more valid or "true" (a problematic concept in itself) than any other’s. One common view (and, it has to be said, a *very* easy, even trivial, target for satire such as this video features) includes the "traditional" concept of a rather anthropomorphic, Abrahamic "God", who has a pre-conceived "plan" for each human being to follow. But this is just *ONE* view of the Higher Power, and is professed by only a percentage of Humanity. Why not consider the many *other* views which exist - or formulate your own, if *none* of them resonates with you...? 2. There is no reason why the Higher Power would or even *should* have "a plan for us all" - or indeed a "plan" for anyone or anything at all. Some religious texts, or interpretations of those texts, state that this is the case, and yet these texts - and their interpretations - are works written by human beings, who are fallible and whose views also vary wildly. To try to circumscribe or dictate the nature or intentions of the Higher Power is beyond the capability of any mortal being: it is so far above our comprehension that, although we can certainly form a spiritual relationship with it, any attempt to claim true understanding of its "motives" (far too human a term in any case) is at best mistaken and at worst simply arrogant. 3. The argument that the omniscience (including foreknowledge) of the Higher Power conflicts with or negates the possession of Free Will by finite beings (such as humans) may appear problematic, but is, in fact, very easy to refute. Consider the following, if you will: An infinitely powerful computer, programmed with complete knowledge of every possible move that can be made in a game of chess (and therefore knowing every possible outcome of every possible game of chess that could ever occur) is observing two people playing a game of chess (for the sake of argument, let's assume that a computer *CAN* observe... we're not debating cybernetics here!). Every time each person takes their turn, and moves a chess piece, the computer immediately calculates *every possible move and every possible outcome of the game* from that point onwards. Every time another piece is moved, the computer does the same; discarding moves no longer possible and re-calculating all possible moves that *DO* remain, together with all possible remaining outcomes, including any *NEW* outcomes which may now have become possible. Therefore, at any given point in the game, the computer knows *all possible moves by both players* from that point onwards. It also knows, even as the ongoing situation changes, *every possible outcome of the entire game*. It is, therefore, omniscient *AND* has complete foreknowledge (in this simplified case, regarding solely a game of chess). But does the computer know either (a) exactly *WHICH* piece - out of all the possibilities - each person will move next, or (b) precisely *WHICH* of the virtually infinite number of outcomes of the game will, in fact, come to pass? No. It does not. It *cannot* know these things, because (for finite beings such as humans, which exist - unlike the infinite Higher Power - within the confines of Time) they lie in the future - a concept which has meaning *ONLY* for finite beings or entities - and the future *does not exist*: what we call "the future" constantly changes according to the events of the present (which, in itself, is an illusion which *also* does not truly exist, since at all times we *actually* experience events not *as they occur*, but *AFTER* their occurrence, slightly in the past. *THAT*, however, is a discussion for another time!). Therefore, the computer knows *everything* that each player *can or might* do, but not exactly which of these possibilities they *will* choose. It also knows *every possible way* in which the game of chess *could or might* finish, but not how the game *actually WILL finish*. Now: substitute "Higher Power" for "computer", "life in general" for "a game of chess", and "any/all possible actions of human beings" for "any/all possible moves in a chess game". What do you have? Yes, both a Higher Power which has infinite knowledge (*including* foreknowledge) - that is, omniscience - regarding all possible human actions and futures, *AND* human beings who, simultaneously, possess the necessary Free Will to choose *which* of the infinite possible actions they will take, and, consequently, *which* of the possible futures will result (since, as stated above, "the future", as we understand it, changes constantly according to ongoing actions/events, and is thus created by such and wholly dependent thereon). Of course, there is no place in the above for any "Divine plan" - but, as I have said, *why* should such a plan exist...? Who can, after all, know the intentions of the Higher Power - even assuming that it has any such "intentions" - or, if you like: who can read the mind of God? One can even substitute "random Cosmic events" for "chess moves", and then see that, while the Higher Power may (I would say certainly *DOES*) know all *possible* events within (and futures for) the Universe itself, it does *NOT* necessarily follow that the Higher Power knows specifically *WHICH* events or future(s) will actually occur - meaning, of course, that even the Higher Power does not *specifically dictate* the ultimate fate of the Universe or the events along that path. See? Not so hard, is it, if one removes the (false) "Divine plan" idea... and it doesn't even require anyone to explode... ;)

Celcus (175 AD), who said Jesus was born of a virgin, said His father is a carpenter, and confirmed Jesus had miraculous powers (See cold-case Christianity for more details) Here’s the physical evidence of Jesus and His Resurrection: 1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back (the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect) 2) The Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs 3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move (they didn’t have any help. TrickyTrickyFox It was actually born somewhere around the 50s, if I'm not misinformed, with the rise of post WW2 comic books and the connected rise of action figurines. Up to that point there had only been dolls, marketed towards girls. The term action figure was then invented to make a fake distinction between two qualitatively identical toys to market them to boys. Many parents saw right through that bullshit though, and so when they said "No boy of mine is gonna be playing with dolls!" in all their patriarchal glory the boy would defend with "They're not dolls, they're action figures!"

This, to me, is the most incomprehensible verse in the whole Bible, and yet most people just blip right over it without a second thought: Moses met with Pharaoh? How on God's green earth did he manage that? Pharaoh was the human incarnation of the sun god. A dirty, hairy, smelly shepherd comes bumbling in out of the desert and requests an audience? They'd put him in chains, drag him to the Nile, and feed him to the crocodiles.

He was adopted into Pharaoh's family as a baby, found out he was an Israelite, saw a dude beating and Israelite, killed the dude, and ran away. So they probably wanted him back. Plus, Moses had Aaron talk to him because he complained about a speech impediment to God.

Edward Wood 1- They didn't completely forget him, and if someone has a demand or else their God would avenge them, I think that could get the Pharaoh's attention. Plus, He could have fun arguing with who was basically a nobody. Plus, if the God of bible really was there, i think he could make a way pretty easily. 2- even if that's the case, which is isn't, since he had lived there his whole childhood to adulthood, then there's another reason to have Aaron.

I have a question for Christians. God has clearly violated people's free will multiple times in the Bible, so why doesn't he violate the free will of every well off person and make everyone collaborate together to help the poor? We would have no more poverty, and crime would be almost completely eradicated.

r36125yt Have you not watched the video? Pharoah wanted to let the people go (after seeing that God meant business), but God hardened his heart so he would not. So yes, God made Pharoah continue to do evil. It doesn't matter if he previously wanted to do evil, or that he would've continued if God did not send the plagues. He wanted to stop, and God wouldn't let him. Reason for wanting to stop is irrelevant, God forced Pharoah to continue with the "evil" choice.
@r36125yt
@r36125yt 10 жыл бұрын
Overlord Valvatorez No Pharaoh did not want to let them go. He was defeated and had no choice in the matter and was angry about it. He wasn't moved at all by discovering the true God. Atheists say they would become believers if God would reveal Himself but it is not enough to believe. There must also be a change of heart. Pharaoh received proof yet his heart unchanged. Unlike us, God can see into a man's future and decided to pass judgement on Pharaoh then and there for the benefit of future generations. The point is that it is not enough to just believe in God. Even the devil believes in God. Moses, through God, parted the Red Sea, yet the Israelites still ended up turning against God in the end. If people want proof of God before choosing a moral life, their future is grim. With God, goodness must be chosen for the sake of goodness and then God reveals Himself. You won't learn the truth about the bible from a hostile video.
@r36125yt
@r36125yt 10 жыл бұрын
Overlord Valvatorez Something else you won't learn from these videos. God "hardens ones heart" by permission. For example the devil could only do what he did to Job through permission from God. With Pharaoh God did the same. The devil could not convince Job to commit evil because Job was good. It worked the same with Pharaoh. But the devil was able to influence Pharaoh through his own free will and Pharaoh's inclination towards evil.

I don't know... I think I've read worse....the judges decision in Roe vs Wade. An innocent baby gets cut out of the comfort of her mother's womb by a crazy woman and doesn't get justice because she is not considered a person unless it could be proved (which of course it couldn't) she took a breath outside of her mother's womb. Millions of babies are murdered in a much worse way each year. But atheists are more concerned about a bakery that will not make a wedding cake for a same sex couple because the owner of the bakery feels that it violates her principles. So atheist are more concerned with shutting her down than defending the life of an innocent baby. At least from Exodus we know that God actions were in condescension to people of a barbaric mindset. But clearly we should be more civilized to today than to have to resort to the institutionalized murder of innocent babies because atheists don't consider the unborn as a person worth protecting. We know from the bible that God took no pleasure on enacting justice against wicked nations. But atheist seem pleased over their control on abortion.

***** With that segway, here's a little story I just made up using DarkMatter2525's Jeffrey character, and of course, Yahweh/God. (Feel free to share it.) Picture this... Some theist who's pissed off at God has been challenging God to strike him dead for hours, and people are taking notice. If an atheist did it, they would just say God doesn't perform miracles for disbelievers, but here's a theist yelling stuff like "I miss my wife and I know you sent her to Hell for being an atheist. Send me too you son of... yourself!" As he's walking down the street ranting, a church lets out and people who know him start pleading with him, saying they understand, his wife was a good person, and begging God to grant his request. Farther down the street, they pass by an atheist gathering of some type. The atheists join in, but even start mocking God saying "You can't do it, huh?" and stuff like that. Telling God to go ahead and send the poor guy to Hell and them with him. The man yells out "Come on God, just squash me with your little finger and send me to be with my wife." Just then, out of the sky comes this HUGE hand, and its little finger comes right down on the guy, making a puff of fire and smoke as it touches him, and he's gone. All of a sudden the atheists are saying they've changed their mind and don't want to go with... saying stuff like "God, that was pretty bad. Hey, could you like talk to us now that you're out of hiding?" Now we back away from this scene to see that it is taking place in an image on a cloud-shaped thought bubble, over a sleeping Yahweh. Jeffrey comes in and wakes up God, telling him there's a theist down on Earth who's been begging to be sent to hell for so long that he's got a crowd of both atheists and theists yelling along with him, while the God they're yelling at isn't responding because he's asleep. Yahwah smugly tells Jeffrey "Relax. I took care to the little trouble maker.". Jeffrey replies: Yeah... In your dreams!

Donald Kronos i actually find both theists and atheists closed minded in your comment. How can anyone be sure they know what happens? the bible doesn't tell us that, so how can we know? Science also can't explain what happens to you after you die besides what happens to your body. I find it arrogant for people to assume they know what will happen.

I remember reading this in Catholic school and even though I wasn't strictly religious or not, I was disgusted... I told my teacher that God clearly wasn't good if he murdered innocent children who could've done good with their lives and had no control over their circumstances, pretty sure that was the start of me not being religious any more. Even now, it shocks me how horrific this is. I can't believe people worship a monster like that. Christians say 'it's all about the new testament' but I don't see how you can just disregard a whole text that is meant to be part of your religion. Still, I'd appreciate some videos on the New Testament (I know the stories in there are way more boring, but I'm sure there's some good material :) )

So, hmm, apparently, some grammatical differences between the NIV and KJV Bibles make this story pretty different. In the KJV, God doesn't try to kill Moses; he, having foreknowledge that he will kill the firstborn, goes to immediately kill the Pharaoh's kid. While that's happening, Moses is forcibly holding down their son while his wife circumcises him, so God won't kill the kid. I found an article explaining this at length, as if it's still a great thing, when really, it's a horrifying thing.

I got into a debate with a Jehovah witness about this I said that God "hardened Pharaoh's heart" and he claimed that it was Pharaoh that "hardened his own heart". He asked where in the Bible it states that God hardened Pharaoh's heart and that it must be the wrong translation. So, I went to Biblehub (I am always on there when I watch these videos, because sometimes I just can't believe it actually says the things it says and I want to see what the actual words are) and gave him a dozen examples from different translations including his own New World Translation.

raveeno2005 I really don't mean to start a console war, or a PC master race debate, but that's more of a PC than anything. I don't see where you get Playstation from, since that's Dark Souls II, available on PC, Xbox 360 and One, and PS3/4. The controller doesn't give anything away, and doesn't really restrict it to consoles either, since many PC gamers have a controller hooked up to their rig. But, the display looks like a monitor, sitting on a desk, and he is sitting right in front of the desk, as you would a PC, whereas, more likely than not, consoles are in the living room hooked up to a TV, and the player plays from the couch.
@wenbenz
@wenbenz 9 жыл бұрын
***** Your point? that is completely irrelevant to what I said. My point was, given the clues of the context with no explicit display of the machine, the machine is more likely to be a PC. And I know that there may be some people will hook up their console to a monitor and play that way, but more likely than not that will be a PC hooked up to the monitor.

I really enjoy your toons. I was a devout christian for ten years and studied the bible daily, went to church and watched televangelist. I constantly denied myself and lied to myself to over look how much of a piece of shit god is. I enslaved myself to the concept of god and became a lovingly judgmental liar. I've been free now for ten years. After my apostasy I am able to be myself with out feeling guilt. I am better now than I was and I'm never going back.
