I think it's more a case of Thanos knowing everything about the Annihilators as well as having a Adam there to help which made things a lot easier for Thanos. Darkseid would have neither foreknowledge or outside help. Still, if we are talking at his best, Darkseid would take it. But at more consistent levels, the Annihilators would probably overwhelm him before he managed to figure out everything they could do. The fact Darkseid is also arrogant enough to believe he's inherently above them before they even start fighting doesn't exactly help his chances of not getting caught off guard by their combined power and versatility either.

When you've seen Darkseid struggle physically, you have to remember that what you're looking at is an avatar, NOT Darkseid, and Darkseid can manifest different avatars, depending on the situation - though only ever one at a time in any given universe. Beyond that, characters like Superman and Doomsday are simply on that level, just as, in Marvel, there are characters on Thanos' level. I COMPLETELY disagree that with Danco that Thanos is physically superior to Darkseid as well, since Darkseid has different avatars for different situations. The one that fought the Anti-Monitor would've broken Thanos with little to no effort. Remember who and what the Anti-Monitor is. Even Darkseid's normal avatars are more than a match for Thanos. Thanos is a singular, though powerful, being. "Darkseid" is an instance of a being to whom Thanos is literally less than nothing, even WITH the Infinity Gauntlet. There's really no comparison. So, for this fight, if as you say, you're taking Darkseid at his best, you're talking about the avatar that fought the Anti-Monitor, and Darkseid obliterates this team with almost NO effort.

I'm # 40 I could see the Annihalators pulling out a hard earned victory as Gladiator and the imperial guard were able too BEAT THANOS and the Annihalators are more powerful than the imperial guard and THANOS did need help to BEAT the Annihalators from Adam warlock so I'd say Annihalators 4/10 On random encounters and with prep time 6/10.

In my opinion, darkseid is practically useless for vs battles. Because he is just about the most inconsistent character in existence. One moment he can trash the entire justice league on his own, fight the anti-monitor and fall on the multiverse and nearly destroy it. The next he gets beaten by superman or doomsday or wonder woman. And yeah they are all avatars, but that is just an explanation for his inconsistency. If you are gonna fight an avatar, you have to decide which avatar you are using and that severely limits his feats. And then you have the idiots who dont realize these fights are never about the true darkseid so they will cry about all his feats like nearly destroying the multiverse. Darkseid just doesnt really work in vs battles in my opinion.
