Thanks! I will definitely do some more

Once you have chopped the single break up into slices you can even hover over the sample select in the instrument tab and hold edit and use the left and right keys to preview other possible samples which makes it even easier to audition.

I don't think the tracker is the beast at chopping breaks, I think you're the beast my friend. So dope, just wow

Yo thanks man!

Great video! The M8 is indeed a beast at chopping! I’ve always used the LFO method for dirty timestretching on the M8, so I’ll have to look at your envelope technique.

Dope! Don't have a M8 but applying these techniques to loops of my own music on the PE Tracker I recently traded for - really cool stuff. Also doing the granular beat stretch technique and intentionally putting the middle Position in the wrong place can lead to some very cool results for broken sounding playback.

A South African with an M8! 😁 I was wondering if there were any in SA. (Or are you living abroad?) I've ordered one and the batch is scheduled to ship in November! Awesome video, by the way! That trick of changing between different breaks in a single phrase is magic!
@DashGlitch2 ай бұрын
Yea haha it's a unicorn here, but basically most synths are, the music stores here just care about guitarists so I do have to order most of the things I want from abroad. It's been relatively smooth sailing, the M8 was a breeze, shipped quickly and safely. I tend to use priority shipping when possible

great stuff. this is the sort of thing I'd do on machinedrum and live mangle / arrange. how possible it is to swap the breaks / chops / retrigs etc on the fly as it plays? or is this just a preprogramming sort of idea?
@DashGlitch18 сағат бұрын
Very easy, if you swap the sample out it keep the loop in tact just switches the sounds, you can also midi control it

Can I ask a question about video editing? I was very interested in how you made the keys illuminate blue when you press them, did you highlight each press manually in the editing program?
@DashGlitch9 ай бұрын
No this is a touchdesigner project someone made specifically for the M8, I just screen captured it :)
@klementus9 ай бұрын
@@DashGlitch Thank you, it's clear now. I looked and thought: did he really highlight every click during editing, this is so much work... 😆

I’m trying to decide if I should see about trying this once it’s available again or getting a tracker mini, some aspects of this device seem confusing but I like that you have a lot of options, is it worth trying?
@DashGlitch9 ай бұрын
Absolutely, the synthesis engines are pretty deep and the sonic capabilities are crazy, it's a bit confusing but a lot of it can be bypassed with midi, sampling etc.
@fulltang17 ай бұрын
Get both, easy. M8 is truly pocketable with insane synth capabilities, very unique.

If you're not sure. Just buy a teensy for like $30. You can run it on a teensy through your computer using keyboard as controls

Great vid! How is this for a TOTAL NUBE? Non MUsican. Can I figure it out?
@DashGlitch8 ай бұрын
it's probably a good idea to play around with renoise first (it's a software tracker) and see if it makes sense to you before investing, if you haven't had much music making experience

you could try m8 headless, def. cheaper option to try it out and have the same functionality of the m8 but on the PC
