Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. I'm a Realtor by day but garage monkey by night. My background though is engineering so I love this stuff.
The learning curve is EXTREMELY high for tuning. I've been studying up and working on it for a few years now but still have TONS to learn. This is tuning Volumetric Efficiency / MAP / Speed Density tuning.
I tuned this several times before. First time didn't' realize I was sold a defective Wideband. Second time I used long term fuel trims. Third time I used short term fuel trims. And this last time I got a new wideband.
I didn't realize you cannot use short term fuel trims in high power regions of VE table. Those require more fuel to be safe, plus narrowband / short term trims are not reliable there.
I had to richen up those areas by (1) turning on PE - trucks have it mostly off (2) making those areas VERY rich... as rich as 10:1 (3) adjusting VE table w/ wideband until it was ALL w/in 5%. (4) then adjust PE to 12.2:1 across the table. You can in theory lean out a bit at higher RPMs as load is less say to 12.8:1. However, with error in your tune / system of 5% you want to stay lower say at 12.2:1. Peak power is around 12.8:1 I'm told.
