Datsun 240Z L28 stroker ep.18 - Fixing the Megasquirt MS1 ECU install
The wiring harness install for the Megasquirt MS1 did not go to plan. In this episode I troubleshoot the problem!
*SPOILER*
As it turns out the power supply was directed to the incorrect pin in the DB37 connector. In short, I had a counting error!
Swapping the power supply to the correct pin and the ECU fires up. Happy days! Next step, tuning.

Agreed. I’m taking the knock detection one step further. I am in the process of making a DIY digital engine stethoscope to tune with. I’m aiming to keep costs to less than $100AUD. This will feature in a future episode 😉 Most knock sensors are tuned to a limited detection frequency range normally as a function of bore diameter and conditions under 100% throttle. A stethoscope will allow me to hear what’s going on at all RPM and load cases and tune according (well thats the plan anyway!). One hitch is that I have to tune the map with a factor of safety because the stethoscope won’t provide an input to the ECU unlike a knock sensor kit....
