My dad passed away march 7 2020. I was on a 6 month trip when it happened. I drove 18 hours back home when I heard the news. Straight back home. I drove into town and went to the gas station as I turned on this song from KZbin. I didnt hear it for years. I walked into gas station to hear it playing in the store.. I love you daddy. I miss you so much. I know your here with me.

I'm 72 years old and every single time I hear this song I want to cry. I don't really know either, except it brings back memories of a love from decades ago that didn't work out. Also standing next to my dad's bedside in the ICU as he slowly passed away. He didn't want to leave us, but it was the pastor saying "Bob, it's OK to go now" that he finally went to be with his Father in heaven. I miss you every day, Dad!

I first heard this song when I came back to the States to retire from the military with over 20 years in and 14 years of those overseas. It would play at the same time every morning on my shower radio. They never said the singer's name. There couldn't have been a better song for my transition period to civilian life. It encompasses both sides. Loved my time in the military. Felt like I was leaving my buddies but at the same time I was going home to my Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers who had supported what I was doing. Then again I hadn't really been home in 2 decades. I have to tell you that I'd stand under the shower listening to this with a few tears. It still moves me. Maybe the song means something different to everybody else but I will always think of my buddies and going home.

You came to Camp Foster Okinawa in 2014. I was so depressed back then. I felt like an empty shell compared to who I was before I became a Marine. Years in the infantry broke me. That night when you sang to us I smiled again. Yiu showed up wearing black leather in 95 degree 100% humidity. You barely made it thru 1 song before you tossed it to the crowd. You gave me enough motivation to just go a little farther. You saved my life all those years ago. 10 years have passed. I now have a family and im getting help from the VA. Thank you.

How awesome this man will be performing this 4th of July celebration at the historical US Army installation, Schofield Barracks, on the island O'ahu, in the Aloha State of Hawai'i. No doubt, when he rolls up on this song, there will be a thunderous sound of cheering and fanfare, as this song is the theme and tribute to our beloved Service Men and Women in the Armed Forces, that home is the only place they, and we all, want to be. My last deployment in the Army was extremely tough. This song helped me make sense of things and help me put things in perspective. I can't tell you the impact this song has had on me. I'm looking forward to seeing and meeting Daugherty in August 2023. My hope is I will have the opportunity to tell him how powerful this song is and how often I heard it and quoted by my fellow brothers and sisters in arms I'm not running from, I think you've got me all wrong, I don't regret this life choose for me. I don't regret a single day spent in uniform, and I will never regret the path my life has taken. Bad knees, PTSD and whatever else's comes my way. On my last day in country, my brain kept playing this song on repeat, I'm going home. I'm grateful to have made it back.

Agreed, I live in a military dependent former Pineapple plantation town near an US Army instillation, and I see many of our service Men and Women go off to some conflict overseas, and hearing of some not making it back home, hurts many of us, especially those brave souls I've personally got to know. This very song gives me and the many military families hope, that they all will return back home where they all should, want to be. I salute the Armed Forces this Fourth of July, our Independence Day! God bless them all! 👍

This song always reminds me of my cousin who passed away due to accident. Everytime i listen to this song, it never fails to left tears into my eyes.. sadly my cousin was on his way home but he never made it.. i hope he found his way back home up there. We missed you forever. 🖤🕊️

I have no idea why, but I pulled this song up tonight and the tears have not stopped. I lost my best friend, wife, lover and mother to our children in the fall of 2019. We were best friends since high school. As she was preparing to leave this life for heaven she kept telling me it was going to be fine. Indeed, she was going home. And while I know she is no longer in pain I still miss her so much and can hardly wait to join her some day soon I hope. Indeed, Coming Home means so much to me on many different levels. I will love you Pam forever and always.

Am I the only one who cries at this song? Not because of nostalgia, but at the realisation that my parents house doesn't feel like home anymore? It used to be this safe haven back when I was a child and a teenager. The easy life disappeared when I was 17 and I moved when I was 18. Now I'm 26, bought a house with my BF and I love it. But still, I miss my home that I can't return to. It is there, but it isn't.

Memories eh. Amazing how a song brings back not just the thought memory of another time, but the entire state of being. The smells the atmosphere the fun the feelings the happiness, the take on life. It feels like you're visiting the past, and you remember things that you haven't thought of or felt for years, but they come back clear as day. As if your life of the past and all it's components are tucked away, stored deep inside your mind waiting for the perfect key to unlock, which often is music. Like there's memories.. and then there's music inspired memories.

According to Chris in an interview, the song means he had wished for a successful career as a singer who tours but was finally going home to his wife at the end of the tour because he was tired of all the people and places and wanted to go the woman- Deanna- he hasn't always been the best man and friend to but while he doesn't regret this career choice and the life he has chosen, her love has always been enough for her. It's all about marriage, family and relationship ahead of fame and success. That is so sweet.
