The Kenyan currency line- ‘my currency is Kenyan, I’m in it for the long run.’ People from Kenya usually can run for a long time especially if u look at Olympic runners. So he’s tryna say that his money won’t run out or something like that
@willnoucamp2 жыл бұрын
No hype no cap Dave is on a different level to everyone. Generational genius talent. No US rappers, no UK MCs, no J Cole, no Kendrick, no one is beating Dave sorry.

I thought that’s what he was referencing! 😆😅 we’re still figuring out when it’s slang vs something we would say in the states.
@leeannsheridan43804 жыл бұрын
@@BradAndLex even I’m still figuring it out and I live here in what you guys class as the projects, different areas have different slang so it’s sometimes confusing. I was watching a different Dave reaction from you guy’s and he was using the term “Corn” that’s another word for bullet/s I’m not sure if you guy’s use that over there? The word Peak means rubbish, Peng means good (a peng ting - a hot girl). There’s so many, but a lot comes from Jamaican yardy culture originally and is just adapted etc. Great channel btw guy’s, not sure if you’ve checked out J Hus? But him and Dave are two of my favs. K Koke is great too. We have a lot of talent here.

I don’t know if you found out yet but when he said in his other song - “my currency is Kenyan, it’s in it for the long run” He meant his money is here to stay and it’s never going to lose, Kenyan runners are known to be the best in the world at long distance running, so it’s a word play but also his saying his money is here for the long run
@saraplunkett22854 жыл бұрын

Kenyan's are world renowned long distance runners, so the analogy is that his money is long like the distance race winning kenyan's run.

dave isnt kenyan he said his currency is kenyan im in it for the long run because kenyans are naturally good at running long distances , it could also mean that he’s making investments. daves lyrics are very adaptable and has many different meanings

This is not an attack on your channel, but you guys are missing some of the best wordplay/metaphorical genius/honest poetry of a deprived ethnic generation encapsulated by a black man in England through song that will be once in a generation - Dave is honestly the voice of so many of us.. but put on a platform that reaches far across the water - I beg you look deeper into the meaning if not just this song, but psychodrama in general - Modern day Shakespeare for the oppressed

Bro will u stop saying in black culture. In the uk we’re not as separated as u guys. Everything Dave is saying applies to white people as well. Some of his closest friends that he classes as family are white. All the gang warfare in london is mixed culture it’s not just black people
