The wife and I started Dave's common sense approach to money (the way our grandparents handled money) three years ago and are much better off. No more paycheck to paycheck. Cut up the credit cards and live on less than you make each month. Get out of consumer debt. 3 month emergency fund, saving for retirement, saving to buy our next car with cash (no more financing things that go down in value). Praise God - love it

Bryan capitalist belief - I guess you forgot about the Great Depression then. You see in your world if a country operates according to the “capitalist system” they should never go broke or experience financial downturns - when you hit the wall on your debt we’ll see if that holds true ok. In the meantime 50m on food stamps and another 50m working poor non of which can afford healthcare so they need to get Medicaid (socialist handout program?) so I would talk to loudly just yet.

Politics and economics are two sides of the same coin of distributing and allocating power. The only purpose of pretending they are not intrinsically linked is to convince people to look in one direction so you can rob them via the other. That means we have adults. They cannot go far from their teaching with the knowledge they learned in their Dave Ramsay book. WE WILL ALL HAVE FREEDOM. Thank you Dave Ramsey! One of our children told us to call you next year. We didn't always do the plan perfect but Dave's techniques make it easy enough to get back on track. Ok... greed by definition is wanting MORE THAN YOU NEED. Socialism wanting everyone to have the basic Essentials to live is not greed. Wanting people to not starve or be homeless or die of treatable diseases, isnt greed. Wanting to hold onto a surplus of money that you dont need in exchange letting your other humans die is by definition greed.
@charlessands6933
@charlessands6933 3 жыл бұрын
@@randomcommenter3819: there is the problem though. Who determines how much you need if I go out and I work and I make a decent amount of money and I can determine what I want to buy. If I want something that I don't need I can buy it if I can afford it. Under socialism I probably won't be able to get that thing because it's not determined to be in need. Who wants to go through their whole life letting the government determine whether you get something or not? Many more people are in poverty and have been in poverty and starving and all these other things that you mentioned under socialism and or communism than ever have been under capitalism. Under capitalism more money goes to Charities and other helpful agencies and personal donations and personal people helping each other out then ever goes out threw socialism because people have more money to deal with on a personal level. Also, without capitalism you ultimately have slavery. If I work and I work and I work and then the government's going to take on a 30 40% of my income or whatever for all these social programs to give to other people to try to equal things out. Well why should I work all those hours just to have it all taken away and given to people who are able-bodied might not but might not only want to work maybe 20 hours a week? Now remember here I'm not talking about people who can't work due to mental or physical disability or age or whatever. We have a moral obligation to help those people and we do on a regular basis. But under socialism the government decides you don't need this you do need this and you can only get this on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sundays well what happens if I want more can I work to get more but that's apparently being drawn now because since Billy can't have you shouldn't be able to have it either. that seems to be the trend in our world society.

Ann Rand's capitalism philosophy is about "you first" and others "second." It isn't others first, and then you second. You should benefit first from your hard work. What benefits you, will benefit others. Not the other way around. You could equate the philosophy to "pay yourself first."

This is an excellent video. I think it is important that Dave Ramsey drew a distinction between capitalism and anarchy as he called capitalism without morality. Obama was and is bitter at the private sector of the economy, perhaps for legit reasons, describing it in his book 'Audacity of Hope' as "four years behind enemy lines." I have to agree that in capitalism there is much monkey molasses, having worked 6 years with three different companies as an engineer. Corporations are run, sooner or later, by ladder-climbing, corrupt, dismissive, heartless, indifferent, and/or incompetent executives and supervisors. I work where I am wanted, and capitalism lets me do that.

Isidro Leal that’s because capitalism isn’t a redistributive system. It’s a system of individual liberty and values that holds you to a standard of worrying about your own Wealth and yours alone. You people don’t understand a thing about basic economics. You think individual liberty is an issue for some reason and that working a job you don’t like is some sort of exploitation of your life. What you fail to realize is that your success depends on YOU and what you do with your life not anyone else. You’re not entitled to anyone’s money or property, and this idea that you think you get to decide how money is controlled is ridiculous, selfish, and evil.

All boring and unpopular, except it really works. It has to be a lifestyle, a deeply ingrained way of living, and it will take years, but it will result in ending up with surprisingly more than you think possible. And you do not need to have the income of a doctor, lawyer, engineer or business executive to do it, just a decent job and a lot of self dicipline.

You'll find plenty of republicans who do it when they act nice to the scum that treat them like trash. You'll see democrats do it when they flat out lie that they aren't radical leftists. Call them on the facts in those areas and they make fools of themselves. Nobody ever calls them on that... Pretty weak. Dave Ramsey can't carry Milton Friedman's jock strap.

To all that make the argument that Scandinavian countries are socialist: They’re not. 1. They rely on a heavy private market capitalism system for their country. 2. They incorporate a public social safety net. This may seem likes it’s socialism, but it’s neither solely owned by socialism nor capitalism. This can be put in place by any economic system. It happens to work the best in a capitalist economy, as we see in Scandinavia. 3. In Sweden, for example, about 50% of the education system is privately owned. How do they compete with public schools? Vouchers. Parents and students have the right to go to whatever school they want to with their tax dollars. Yet they have some of the best schools in the world both publicly and privately because these schools are competing for govt money. It’s playing the subsidy game but with the people actually in power. This is a classic argument of pro capitalists. 4. Healthcare in Sweden is both public and private. Yes, they pay high taxes, but people are willing to do that so that if some bad happens to THEM (not necessarily concerned about others), they will be taken care of. 5. It’s actually much easier to be an entrepreneur in Sweden than in the US. Due to the social safety net they created. There is more incentive to go out into the market and make something, and SERVE the market. The market still gets to naturally make its decisions as well. In the end, we should be looking up to Scandinavia countries and how their model of capitalism, instead of misleading people into the lenses of socialism. Social democracy is heavily needed in the US. I’m willing to pay high taxes so that EVERYONE HAS AN EQUAL PLAYING FIELD, BUT DIFFERENT OUTCOMES. If that “ain’t capitalism” than you’ve been a sucker to crooks your entire life. Crony capitalism in America needs to go, no one should be sitting here trying to defend crony capitalism and crooks. Yet, no one should be trying to defend an economic ideology that has failed in every country it’s been tried in called socialism. We need to enforce as a society Equal opportunity, not equity. It’s time to tear down the party lines and stand up together as AMERICANS and defend this. We need to fix our system for the better.

Taking government out of business is like disbanding the police forces in a major city. History has shown us time and time again that once private industry is left to its on devices without oversight all hell breaks loose. Anyway, the subject of capitalism vs. socialism is in reality an academic exercise. Is there something unholy about having safety nets in the wealthiest country ever in history? Are the people an asset or or they a liability when things go bad for them? Should people have to sell everything they've spent a lifetime working for in order to pay for medical treatment? What's fairer, your tax dollars going to a military contractor for the new model of the latest weapons that cost billions each or taking care of those you need it? 99% of all people in America want to EARN their living. Corporate America could care less about their workers. It's true. Laying people off is a favorite board-room game. OK, and if people are only as good as their paycheck, are we to believe that a CEO is is worth 500 times more than a worker??????

You make perfectly valid points. You do. That is why we do not have a purely capitalist system. But I don't think very many people are arguing that gov't should have NO involvement with the economy. Just *less* than it has had for the past 2 decades. Businesses, for all their faults, can respond more quickly to changing market conditions than government can. They are *more efficient* in general. I have no issue with safety nets in general... but too many people have become dependent on them, or blatantly abuse them. As for health care, no one would say it's inexpensive, but at least you can get it. Try waiting hours for treatment for a broken arm or leg in a Canadian emergency room, then tell me completely socialized medicine is better. Finally, I'll say this: *somebody* is going to have the power - either businesses which the American people can drive out of business through boycotts (or simply choosing competitors), or the government, which is firmly re-entrenched every two years. Which one is ultimately easier for the American people to hold accountable? News flash: it isn't the government.

+Adrian Fisher equality of outcome = communism equality of opportunity = socialism You don`t have equality of opportunities in a capitalistic society because there is no social net and not everyone is born in the same environment. If you think about it, inheritance (which is at its peak in a capitalistic society because wealth has the most extreme distribution) is the most anti-american thing you can do, it is the complete opposite of the self-made man philosophy of the west.
@adrianfisher3349

After Math I don't understand how equality of opportunity can be considered socialism. It means a respect for private property rights and lack of restrictions to enter the market in that sector. Would we have many of the developments we now enjoy if we needed to ask the public servants in the government for permission to do things?
@aftermath4096
@aftermath4096 8 жыл бұрын
Adrian Fisher because you don`t have the same definition of equality of opportunity than me. I include circumstances of birth, you do not. Also, I didn`t judge which of communism, socialism or capitalism is the best. Both socialism and capitalism have pros and cons. But all in all, socialism strive for equality of opportunities, and it does so by imposing some restrictions (the contribution of everyone to the social net). Its just not true that capitalism strive for equality of chances though. A child born in a rich family will have a much easier time accomplishing certains goals and will even sometimes have undeserving privileges that a child born in a poor family will never have. Socialism tries to minimize this discrepency by redistributing part of the wealth.
@adrianfisher3349
@adrianfisher3349 8 жыл бұрын
After Math No system of government that fails to recognise and respect basic rights and liberties of people as individuals can be considered as moral or any form of objective definition of good. Socialism comes in different forms, two of which are communism, and fascism. Socialism, by your own admission has no respect for the rights of the people as individuals so if the people are deprived of their birthright, to be free, they must be slaves. It's not possible to create an organisation with rights or authorities greater than those that created it. I could not create a company and lawfully grant it the right to send people into your home to take your belongings because I don't have the right to do that. If one man does not have the right to do that then it follows that no group of multiple men can do that either, unless of course, you enter into contract to agree to it. If you believe that people have the right to an amount of money or other resources up to any arbitrary level then you don't believe in the rights of people to own anything at all. It's just that simple. We're all born with the right to do anything we want as long as we don't harm anybody else and as long as we honour all contracts we enter into.
@aftermath4096
@aftermath4096 8 жыл бұрын
Adrian Fisher I understand your point, but you only talk about absolutes, like everything is black and white. I can do the same thing. In a society with no social net and absolute liberty, the word society doesn`t make sense. You would live in a place with very little compassion for others who are born in worse circumstances than you. Sure, you would have complete liberty, but you would also treat birth like a lottery. This is a very bad thing to me. I don`t want to live around ignorant people or sick people who are stuck in the system, I want them to have at least the chance to educate themselves at university (without risking insane amounts of money thereby becoming debt slaves if their education doesn`t pay off) and be treated like humans if they have a disability or become sick. I didn`t choose at birth my country, but now that I'm older, I choose to stay here and sacrifice a part of my freedom for the benefit of the community, for the better.

It is because their are so many people who work full time, but can barely pay the rent, buy food, and stay off of welfare. Go connect with a single mother who is doing her best to make ends meet and raise a family and see if it is true. The Welfare system as it stands is very binding and does not help people to budget or believe that they can make it on their own. As for the doom and gloom message, that depends upon the perspective. First: free market is in the past, forget it. Capitalism has changed, and history won't go back. Since the end of the 19th century, the whole world is already divided into zones of influence, and the new participants of the "competition" have nowhere to go. Speaking metaphorically, all the seats in the first class car are already taken. Therefore, now, in order to take a place there, you must first throw someone out of there, destroying him physically. But it will be very difficult to do this, and at the same time a lot of people will die. Second: Free market and free competition will always lead to a monopoly. The fight always ends with the victory of one of the participants, no matter how many of them, and no matter how long this struggle lasts.
