I was "saving myself for marriage" when I was "bisexual" too. Years of growth clarified that "waiting" was just my subconscious way of avoiding doing intimate things with women because, at the end of the day, I just wanted men. But, boy did I ever try to convince myself otherwise!
@elliefuller36672 жыл бұрын
A lot of lgbtq+ Mormons who “save themselves for marriage” actually engage in same sex relationships, they just haven’t yet accepted that doing that is “sinful” so they will either end the relationship and “repent” or leave the church. When I was still attending church at 22, I was in a relationship with another woman, I had been in the relationship for a little over a year when I finally made the choice of religion or girlfriend. I had been questioning the church ever since I was a teenager, 16 and I realized I was bisexual, that’s when I started doubting everything the church said because I felt that same sex attraction + relationships were not sinful, doubting one teaching from the church led me to doubting all. I chose girlfriend over church, and in all honesty, I am happier now than I ever was in the LDS church. I am now a Presbyterian (PCUSA Presbyterian church, not the other one) and it is wonderful being in a fully-affirming religion, now I get to believe in God and a plan AND I have my girlfriend. I did a lot of research on fully-affirming churches and the PCUSA rang differently, I do believe it is the church I’ve been searching for my whole life.
@charlieinfinite94342 жыл бұрын
@@elliefuller3667 If someone has to choose between a religion and doing what fulfills their life and needs (as long as it doesn't harm themselves or others), then the religion is clearly the one in the wrong. Religion should be about enriching the life you live - not about changing your life for its expectation.
@elliefuller36672 жыл бұрын
@@charlieinfinite9434 Absolutely, perfectly said. That’s why even when I still believed in the LDS church it seemed icky to me that people would say “there’s only one true church.” Even if that’s true, everyone has different personalities and dispositions. How will everyone fit into one religion? Isn’t that exactly why there are so many, because it fits different people better? I feel that the PCUSA is MY true church, not everyone’s, but mine only. I know it isn’t part of the doctrine, but I honestly believe it is possible that all religions could coexist as the truth in several different forms. It would be cruel for God to have an earth with so many faiths and have everyone choose the correct one, I believe that He might have made a truth with many facets like a diamond, with each facet being a unique religion. They are all slightly different but have similarities, and ultimately in the end all of these could lead you to a paradise of an afterlife, IF you live as a good person.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I do feel that labels are important to many people. Many want to have specific labels for their sexuality like bisexual or gay, and a lot want to have specific labels for their gender like transgender or non-binary. Me for example, I feel a lot better labeling myself as bisexual because it gives a more solid sense to a pretty flexible part of the human identity. But then gender, I’m gender apathetic, I don’t pay mind to pronouns as much as others, I will go by any pronouns anyone calls me. I’m struggling with my own sins, sometimes I sin without even knowing it because my eyes haven’t been opened yet in that given time because… I’m human. I’ve been born into a sin cursed world. Do you read the Bible often? I’ve read majority of it ( I say majority because I’m pretty sure I wasn’t paying attention a few times, my mind wanders lol) and when I did I found out how much mercy and Grace and love God truly gives to us and we don’t even know it or see it until our eyes are opened by the Holy Spirit. I also didn’t realize how many sins are against God and that’s not how He wanted our lives to consists of. I don’t want you to think I’m attacking you in anyway, and I’m not the best with words to be honest but as a member of Gods family i want to help anybody that I can as Jesus wants us too. :)

Nobody has the right to force anyone into hurrying someone’s coming out journey. It is a very personal process and if anything I believe a few years back when he was bullied through social media… stemming from Perez Hilton blowing up some religious quotes David tweeted at a time when David had just returned from a religious LDS mission… you could tell David meant no harm towards anyone and P Hilton did intend harm when he stirred up trouble for David and so many people were trying to bully David into coming out and it was so painful to see as a fan of his…and now we know it must have been especially brutal for him at a time when he was at a very vulnerable stage having just returned from two years of worship and service towards others. He was just readjusting to a normal life again on top of dealing with stardom and not wanting to let his fans down! Can you imagine the delicate period with coming to terms with his sexual orientation on top of all that bullying and hate. He is such a nice person!…I’m sure it set him back and scared him along with feeling like he hurt people going through what he was going through. He apologized but the public was brutal especially the lgbtq+ community were actually bullying him on many levels! That should never happen! We all need to understand that everyone has a right to come out when they are ready and not when others think you should! He has a right to worship and belong to whatever religion he choses just like anyone. If anything he is bringing awareness to the LGBTQ+ community and their rights within the church. I hope he performs at the next Love Loud Fest with Imagine Dragons! ❤️🙏🏻🌈😍🔥💥🥰🌈😅

@elliefuller36672 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t, Molly. See, coming out is important because hiding a part of who you are is difficult. Living in a world where people like us (the lgbtq+ community) are extremely outnumbered and we don’t often get to see others like us in media, it is tough. When you come out, regardless of whether it has a positive or negative feedback, you feel much more free because now you know how the person/people reacted and no longer need to sit and worry about it. For example, when I came out to my parents as bisexual when I was 17, they kicked me out of their house. I had suspected they would react poorly, and it really did cut deep to have such important people that are supposed to love you no matter what kick me out, but I had taken a massive weight off my shoulders by telling them. When I came out to my siblings, they all reacted well, which took even more weight off my shoulders. Then the same with my immediate circle of friends. And finally there was no more weight on my shoulders. Coming out takes a lot of vulnerability, but in the end you will likely be glad you did, no matter how the person reacts.

After all these years and I've waited to see if he would break free and come out and I'm glad he's finally found the courage to do so and live his truth. He came out as gay to his family but now he's not sure if he's gay but bi. This is clearly a sign of being in the denial stage and not being fully accepting of himself yet although I'm sure he's known all along of his truth but was scared to come out which is completely understandable. Or maybe because of his strict religious beliefs his family has a very hard time accepting his truth so he comes out as bi as a way to validate both. God loves us, no matter if you feel a kind of sexual orientation. The most important thing is avoiding the sin when we don't be obedient to the chastity commadment. Keep pure in the middle of this declining world. I love you David for being brave!

Sometimes you fall in love with people regardless of their gender and/or sexuality. What’s so wrong with that? Everyone is on their own journey so acceptance is a good first step.

I sometimes have feelings for women, but not in a relationship context. Usually just crushes. But I do still prefer guys. So yeah, I also do feel in a spectrum of bi. Probably a 2 on the Kinsey scale. Anyway, WE STILL LOVE YOU DAVID! WHAT MATTERS IS THAT YOU ARE TRULY A GOOD PERSON. ♥️

t's funny how I'm not surprised by this because I've always known that he's either gay or bisexual. I remember telling my friends whenever we talk about his songs (we love his songs by the way) that he's either gay or bisexual but no one would believe me and they thought I was bluffing but well...

Sounds like he still has a long journey to self love and acceptance ahead of him. I remember telling myself that I was bisexual as a way of forcing myself to “stick to women”. I was absolutely miserable until I finally started living my truth as a proud and open gay man. If he is bisexual, then that’s perfectly fine too, but based on my own experience, his tone of voice sounds like he has a lot of internalized homophobia still.

There’s denial and uncertainty in his face.. he’s on the right path, but he’s still feeling the weight of his religion and what the faith may view as a sin. I wish he gets to the point of happiness he deserves sooner than later.
