They're going to be for some time to come. He stood in a spot almost impossible to find - it's got obvious appeal, but it's not so tied to that particular era in that it got swept away with everything else that it coincided with. The insane fashions helped put it into that rare place - neither the music and definitely not the image alone would have had the impact, but a crazy and beautiful genius? That's the stuff of immortality, especially since by the time he eased up on image he had gone past mastering the craft and began to experiment. It all just kept compounding on itself over and over, era after era. I'm only a bit more than half your guys' age, but I agree 100% that this man was absolutely extraordinary.

Sadly, the music is not being played live. I think late on OGWT(*) everything was live, but while Bowie is clearly singing live, the rest of it is a backing track. His hands don't match what the piano is playing, and you can also hear Bowie's voice in the background chorus vocals. I'm pretty sure this is actually the album recording, minus the lead vocals, which he is singing live over.

It's been a while since I checked in with Bowie -- I'm sitting here just SMH -- I don't think we will see another artist with his unique style and artistry...not in our lifetime. Yeah, he always took a moment to 'enjoy the ride' -- one of the things I liked about seeing him live. Recall him going off stage left and swayin' and boppin' to "Stay" during phenomenal guitar solo...just great to observe. A true rockstar who btw was not one of these Ahole divas who made crazy demands from those in his social circle. Unless I'm mistaken he left this world with no poop all over him and that is an accomplishment for someone in the Biz >>

This guy was tapped in to a bloody powerful source. I absolutely love David Bowie. I need to thank 3 things for getting me into Bowie. First is the BBC cop show woth hilarious premise, Life on Mars. Second, Kurt Cobain for covering 'The Man who Sold the World' in spectacular, iconic fashion. Most of all have to thank my Dad, for always singing along and telling me how cool Bowie is. I remember being very young and hearing Heroes for the first time and crying in his arms. So yeah, thanks BBC, Kurt, Dad and David.
