@@DavidGreen-pc1im You can't love Britain that much if you want to turn it into even more of a pale imitation of America. An elected head of state is costly and undignified. Just another office for self-serving politicians to occupy. The monarchy supports many charitable/nonprofit organisations. The monarch needn't stoop to empty rhetoric to gain votes. The King was raised for this. He has long-standing relationships with foreign leaders, and counsels PMs. He speaks multiple languages. To be head of state is a duty and should remain so, not a popularity contest whose prize is fame and self-enrichment. You would demean our state by turning it into a republic.
