The intro explanation on its own is worth a watch. And this is before they have sang a single note. David Gates was explaining that this was a song for his dad. But because he thought it would be too much for the general public, he made it in such a way that they would relate to it as a love songs. So two songs in one. Now have clever is that, that the meaning can be construed any way you wanted... This is brilliant
