THANKS so much for this!!! Way back in the day Elton John gave enormous recognition and visibility to his writing partner Bernie Taupin, and we all thought that that would be the way of the future for song writers !!! Unfortunately it still hasn’t turned out that way but perhaps now with the popularity of podcasts and "behind the scenes" stories and analyses , we can see that truly begin to happen!!!

a lot of artists could learn from avril lavigne, taking a song that you know will change your life even if it's not your style. too many artists are so concerned about being "genuine" and "authentic".
@feralkitten147510 күн бұрын
what's wrong with authenticity tho?

0:11 verty misleading. “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” never went #1 on Billboards Hot 100. It was a Pop airplay chart. Big difference.
@suorfrio73219 күн бұрын
Not misleading, it was number one. Lots of artists and industry people talk about numer ones in a more general notion, not just the hot 100. The airplay charts, at least back then, used to measure how well the song was doing specifically on radio, which is what matters to writers and producers focused on radio performance. We as the audience tend to focus much more on the hot 100 cause it adds up radio + sales + streaming and more, which is fair cause it gives us a more global performance result of the 100 (or 200) songs that are being consumed the most. If a song does well enough on radio its more than satisfactory for the industry, especially pre 2010, so when a song goes number one on airplay it is regarded as a number 1 song. And also, a song going #1 on airplay will ALWAYS have industry eyes on the song, artists, writers and producers behind it, cause if does well on radio its a great sign, commercially speaking.
@peterpalmato4676 күн бұрын
@@suorfrio7321Definitely misleading. That song went to #1 on not one Singles chart anywhere in the world. I think it went #1 in Lauren's mind only, sadly.

That’s not what Lauren said. If you go back and listen to this video where she mentions that she was 4 months pregnant, but she and Avril laid down on a blanket and knocked out lyrics together, and then she (Lauren) came up with more lyrics and melodies for Complicated later, and Avril went with it.

Sure, but the way she’s talking it sounds like she’s done most of the writing for this song. And I remember Avril bragging back in the day about what a prolific and great songwriter she was. So I’m surprised to find this out now because they really wanted to make it seem back then like everything was coming from Avril‘s original ideas. Which wasn’t the case. So it’s interesting to me, how they try to sell it to you as a kid, the picture you see isn’t what it is. Anyway. Cool.

I don’t think Gaga actually wanted it, I think her label wanted it for her. The sound of the song didn’t fit what she was putting out in 2010 & this was the era where she was starting born this way. I’m assuming the label wanted it for her because of the title of the song.
