The rave scene in America is *far* softer than Europe. In places like Berlin and Holland, it's regular for both DJ's and ravers to go clubbing Friday night until Sunday (clubs open Friday midnight, close Monday morning 11 am), openly participating in sex and drugs in the clubs. Dj's like Sven Vath were known for mammoth 12+ hour sets

Say whatever you want, but this guy is speaking the truth about what makes a superstar DJ. Look at Calvin Harris, Avicii RIP :(, Martin Garrix, Skrillex, Diplo, etc. They are all music producers, and some are mainly just producers, like Calvin Harris and Avicii, etc. Who got into DJing because of producing, for others it is different but the reason these guys are so big is that they have made tracks which have been heard by billions of people around the world. Sure the House and Techno Gatekeepers can cry and complain all you want, but the fact is that this is EDM Today, EDM is very mainstream. These Slap House tracks get millions of views on youtube and EDM has been and will continue to be placed in the charts for years to come, maybe not in one country but in another, it will be huge. I am not sure about the part he said about drugs but he was telling the truth about everything else.

Notice at 1:10 Guetta now thinks the question was "how do you become a famous DJ?" rather than a "good" DJ. That's Guetta's subconscious defense mechanism kicking in.
@davidbaca18565 жыл бұрын
No, he answered the question at the beggining, he said that if you want to be a good DJ you have to be able to rock the crowd with your own style, your own music, if you can do that, you are a good DJ, and then he explained what is the difference between the famous djs and the resident djs in the nightclubs of your city who only plays music.

How would David Guetta know how to be a good DJ? He's hardly a producer and he is in no way a DJ. He only plays pre-mixed sets on stage because he is too afraid to fuck up live. And people pay 80 bucks a night to see him press play on Soundcloud basically.
@onlytiesto19 жыл бұрын
Rob Ztar you should look his umf set 2015, several times camera focus on the mixer and if you see the faders on the mixers are left or right, never more on 1 fader. i think his pre-mixed are overs now and if that is not enough then check this "martin garrix & david guetta mixing mambo ibiza" cameras even closer, you would see the mixers faders and some skills, you should get more info and stop bashing because of ignorance..
@RobstarG9 жыл бұрын
He admitted in an interview with Noisey and later in an Interview on TV that he does not mix sets live. My statement was not based on ignorance, but on his own statement. And moving a fucking fader wen you know the camera is there filming you, is not a big deal. And even if the fader is moved, you dont know if the mixer is plugged in at all. I prefer The Glitz, Sound Nomaden, Umami, Systemfeind, A.N.A.L. and a lot of others over David Guetta a million times. Not only do they play their sets live with actual DJing skill, but they also play way better music. Not this americanized EDM crap. Go to Soundcloud and listen to sets of the DJs I just mentioned. Get your mind blown! ;)

@StraightUpSAD9 жыл бұрын

@RobstarG9 жыл бұрын
Joe Bieker You cannot go to a Festival dedicated to House/Techno in Europe without having at least 70% of the crowd at least a little whipped on Speed, MDMA, XTC or cocaine, in some cases also ketamine or Crystal Meth. Also we don't say EDM in Europe, because EDM is basically what David Guetta does and that's utterly awful mainstream bullshit with no sense of quality or originality. In Europe there is House (lots of different segemnt styles) and there's Techno (also a lot of different segment styles). EDM in Europe (at least in Germany and the UK, that's what I know) is basically what will be played in big mainstream party temples, which aren't even referred to as clubs by the Techno and House crowd I've met and partied with over the past 10 years now. There is a very strict seperation. The usual techno crowd is also dressed in a way they would not even gain access to a mainstream Disco palace. Our Techno clubs are rugged, mostly a bit dirty and you better don't go there in high heels and a mini skirt or as a male in nice leather shoes, a white shirt and a suit vest. Not only will you be laughed at and stick out like a sore thumb, you will also not have fun. I can see where the success of David Guetta and the likes comes from with the laziness on lack of perception of quality that goes along with the consumption of radio and so on, but I never really listened to radio and when i have to, I suffer. Music played on most radio stations today is so generic and lackluster, I'd kill myself if had to party to that shit. That includes Mr. Playback David Guetta. He never plays live, he just makes move on stage while a pre-mixed set is playing. That's not a DJ...
